i heard it was easy to burn your plant using this soil.. what is the propper way to use this stuff. starting from seed all the way to the end. i got the seeds today and im gonna get the soil today too. thanks alot to anyone who helps!

I have never used it but start out with the light warrior mix in little cups and transplant later. For the first watering make sure u see just a little runoff to make sure its thoroughly damp

Fox Farms Ocean Forest is the best. Just don't add any nutrients for the first week, other than Fox Farms Big Bloom at the recommended rate. It provides the essentials for a strong stem and roots.

I use it, and never had a problem. I don't even have to feed them til the first week of 12/12, after 3-4 weeks veg. The first 10-14 days are in 1 gallon pots, then go to 3 gallon pots for the final 10-14, then to 12/12. The only thing I've used during veg, is one or two light doses of Calmag, and that's just a precaution, not because of deficiencies starting. I'm still tweaking though, it's endless.....

I will warn you about FFOF - It starts off great for about 1 month - then the soil spikes ... from like 6.5ph to up in to the 8 Range. dont know what causes it but watered at 6.5 every time and ended up with run off in the 7.5+ range.

Really? Wow, mine always goes down, not up.

mine was down for the first month - then when i started using nutes ( I had to use PH up ) to get my water right - I believe the soil kept the PH up in there causing the prob.

I also read were it was too strong so I tested it by mixing FFOF,Perlite, and Topsoil in 5 out of 6 mediums. The other I used FFOF and Perlite and the str8 FFOF an Perlite plant is way more healthier then the other 5! It's greener, bushier, bigger leafs, fatter stem! It's just a better looking plant str8 out!!!!1

It's all I've used since I started my previous grow, zero problems so far. I have a 2 month old Jack Herer that started in FFOF from seed and is 2 months old now, this is her this morning. Good luck.

I use happy frogs for seedlings, tried OF once and was very disappointed, have my tomatoes in what was left of it now and they are all burnt up, would not use it if it was free

I use it straight up. I put my clones right into it in 16 oz cups.

When I transplant it is into 3/4 FFOF & 1/4 Perlite.

Works for me :weed:

I had a strain that was sensitive to OF, so switched to Happy Frog, for the first stage. When I go to my final sized pot, I go with OF/Happy Frog 50/50 mix, with another 10-20% perlite added. I'll probably switch to H F after I run out of OF, mainly because it's cheaper. Plus, I'd rather add my own nutes, then worry about starting with too much added.

I can't complain though, it really is a good soil.

Ocean Forest is good stuff. Never had any problems. I do use happy frog for seedlings, however. I don't need to start nutrients until a few weeks unless I have a heavy eater.

I mix FFOF 50/50 with brown bag super soil and put the seedlings in little starter pots for the first 2 weeks sometimes 3 untell they actuly start produceing fan leaves then transfer them to 5 gallon pot with pure FFOF and that seems to work great for me

thanks everyone for answering my question. i gave rep to everyone but the last 2. (ran out) now i know.(will give more rep tommorow!)
