name one successful warehouse or greenhouse grower that lowers their lights during a grow. just one. thanks.
For what it's worth I do a room and never raise or lower my lights, but it's also a dialed in room and I've used the lights in it for a while. It did take 2 runs or so to find the perfect height for me with them however and I feel like it's very understandable for a first run using the lights.

What lights? And what height did you land on?

De gavitas. I found the commonly spouted heights here on the forums are not at all what I found work for me. I now run about 20 inches over canopy. Ceiling is about 7 ft. Hung my new 240 watt QB a few inches lower at maybe 18 inches. I'll redial in for the qbs when I take down a gavita and put more in its place but so far I'm just adding light.

I see. I thought you mounted them to the ceiling or something. That's about where I'm running the QB at, too. That's also where I ran my DE1k.

2 plants side by side and only one had gnat's ? I sort of find that hard to believe .
Side by side but opposite ends of the room.
It was just temp. I ridded them fast, took action. One plant was drinking faster then the other but were both being watered the same time, is how it occurred id guess.
Other plants on the garden eventually got gnats to, even HGL had them for a wk or 2 Its been a long ride & im doing my best.with the time i have.
Right now the only plant with a root bug is the RandomeDank#1, under the Bar-8 Proto. It has fast spider looking fuckers running around the topsoil after watering & some winged bandits too. Nothing on the plant leaves thankfully. Used DE on it last night but am nervous i got the wrong shit? Who keeps telling me to use it? Sorry, forgot. 20190819_170514.jpg

what exactly did you not understand when i used the words "successful, warehouse and greenhouse"?
You think all I've ever done is this room?
N, you're right, we rarely move our lights but do adjust plant distances accordingly as any decent grower does. Especially in the face of 1400ppf "Danger Will Robinson". Plus all you would do after I pushed the limits, fox tailed out & fried my leaves yellow, maybe some bleached buds too,, is Awww, Hybridway Sux or he would've known to lower his plant. The whole test is ruined now.
This sucks, lets go c a proper 2oz grow with 1 wk veg. & cheer that guy on. Quick my fellow Trolls, let's look for the HLG-100 Grows to drool over those even know we still can't afford one & our Moms won't let us grow more then the family peppers.
Awww, shucks!!!

Never been my experience that gnat's caused much of a problem with plant growth, more a problem with them getting stuck in the buds that we smoke,

Well then yoive never had a problem with gnats. Me either till just recently. Always been able to rid them with a fan. Cant even say they are fungus gnats cuz they are way more tactical & combatant.
Talking about the one plant that has a root bug now & the padt plants that had something just a bit worse. I was leaning towards Aphid but IDK. different stages o them i can't seam to match up online. Immune to almost all deterrents/preventative. Mate ontop of PestStrip. I mean who does that. I see centipedes die walking past them. Anyways, nighttime update pics .

My gavitas are mounted to the ceiling, however due to the profile of a qb that wouldnt be possible and maintain good lighting. If I switch to all QB I may do something close to that with them but I'll probably still leave a good 6 inches for airflow since they make more of a second ceiling than my gavitas do and airflow around my lights is very important to me.

I was going to ask a few weeks ago if they might be fruit flies.
Fits the pattern.
Fruit flies fly higher and can be caught more easily near the lights the reason you had success catching them with (sticky traps not pest strips right) near the light.
Fruit flies make more sense, they will fly in your face and hover at the mid level of the plant where gnats tend to stay closer to the soil.

Do you have a worm bin or fresh EWC bringing in fruit flies?

Fresh EWC can also be a reason to have the spider looking things that walk on the edges of pots and in the soil. They might be harmless mites if they came from EWC.
