harvest time, this week + pictures

I've read that sticky 3 times or so. Since I'm a newb, I like to have good indicator of how close they are. I know that since you don't smoke the leaves, don't go by the color of the trichs on them. But I was looking at it more as a progress indicator, watch the trichs turn brown as they work their way up the leaves to the bud.

I wish I had a nice camera, I think it would be cool to do a time lapse photography of a bud, 2 pics everyday, in the morning just as the lights come on and just before they go off. Then we could watch a video of a bud maturing.

I've read your whole tutorial FDD, i don't want to put stupid questions, but, as you can see, the behavior of my plant as a whole is unpredictable. New white hairs (means growing as fdd said), long flowering time, i'm in my 13'th week of flowering, new bid sites everywhere, the main cola is still growing (new white hairs appeared).... The first bud leaf was from a bud that you and many others considers it to be done, but if i look at the trichs, they aren't done. The second leaf was from a bud that i don't consider to be done, you only have to look at the trichs. So, is the first bud done (95% brown hairs)... please look at the trichs... and yes they are from a bud, it's a bud leaf. Thanks, i appreciate.

Yes, she's definitely done. Give her some dark hours and harvest.
Now for the ultimate test of patience - curing.
I tend to hang to dry for a week,
Straight into masonry jars that are opened every day for half hour or so.

Maybe you can smoke the really small buds after a week of hang drying.

Don't try and dry it too fast, you will ruin the flavour.

good job.

You have some incredible patience dude. I'd stick with fdd's advice. You'll know when she's "ready". It will look done....i'm in day 60 flowering myself so I know that feeling chompin at the bit but by all means, wait until you feel it's done. From what i've read (contrary to what i've heard by many people) there is a 3 week optimal window of harvesting so you're not going to lose potency by going a few extra days or any nonsense like that. Obviously most people chop early b/c they don't have the patience...not because they're "done". Listen to what your bitches are telling you :)

Yes, wait a few more days. And do try that 24h darkness thing. In my exp, it does have a nice effect.

I'd suggest cutting any buds that are finished and the adjacent leaves... but only if they're ready!
the placebo effect can be a powerful thing.

and, fdd is right about the "ripe" look they get, i have grown the same strain for nearly 5 yrs and sometimes its done @ 8.5 wks and sometimes 10 wks, good job thus far though bro. and remember, stability of the growing environment can affect things dramaticaly.

Hello, today i've harvsted my baby after 36 hours of darkness. i've choped everything that looked done. I haven't chop down the main stem yet, it's still growing. I will attach some pictures of it (compared with a hdd). Now they're left to hang for 1 week and then jars.

Thanks for your help. i couldn't get here without RIU support.

I've got a new yeld developing, and with some luck it will be the same amount. I hope the buds will develop quicker and i will try to give her organic food only. I will not revert to a vegetative state because she's big enough. Let me show you the plant after chop. Mayble i will try to tie those branches down in order to receive more light.

Thanks, what do you think?

come on guys, i will appreciate those inputs... and i did that think with the lower branches, i've tied them down and chopped the rest of the buds from the higher branches, so now the plant it's smaller and the light reaches all the buds... if you're interested to see pictures of "after harvest one" i will post some. Thanks again and i will wait.

it's not going to grow more buds. the small ones left on it may grow a little more, but for the most part it's done. unless you reveg.

I will show you a picture of what's left of the plant and still developing. What about the harvest, i haven't received comments about my harvest...

Thank you for your answer and help :). What about harvesting, this is my first grow and i don't know exactly when to harvest. I don't have a scope and i'm trying to take closeup pictures with my digital camera.
How much more should i wait?

Thanks :).
Although I am sure you have already harvested by now but I will tell you anyways. You can find a pocket microscope online or at your local hydrostore for 15-25$.

those should fill in a little. :bigjoint:

sometimes, outside, what i like to do, is let my lower buds go a lot longer. just like you are doing. i will cut the main colas and leave all the popcorn. i let this all go until it is "over-ripe" then i make hash out of it. talk about "stoneD" weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :eyesmoke::eyesmoke::eyesmoke::eyesmoke::eyesmoke:

Will cutting get during the night actually make a difference in THC? Very curious...[/quote]

No. Im not sure about that. THC deos not leave at night time. Ive heard that you should cut during daylight while the THC is running like sap on a pine tree on a hot summer day.

It's perfectly ok to chop off the mature buds and wait for the others to gain up. Cutting the mature ones will divert more nutes to the younger ones, making them finish faster, while the older ones are already hung up for drying. It's a win-win situation.
see this statement is confusing, i thought if you cut your plant during flower it stresses it out, so why when you harvest it is ok to do this?
