Remember when I asked if anyone had seen the bottoms brown first? Pay attention to your plants! There's a reason you haven't seen it - unless you effed up! I watered this morning, and noticed that the limb with the 3 browning lower cola was separating from the trunk. Yes, death will make them turn brown early - duh.

So if you do LST or HST and you don't have grafting wax available - get some. I think I caught it early enough but we'll see. It was "cracked" about halfway around on the top, but the inner structure was still good.

And my bored, stoned, caffeined, OCD butt couldn't stand looking at the pot flexing in. Too random when you are trying to be precise. Fixed it!
IMG_8557.JPG
And since I can be more precise with tension (pulling one side doesn't affect the other) I have light tension on all four sprouts.

Very nice :) It looks like my clones aren't going to make it :( Gonna be starting seed this weekend if the clones don't pick up a bit..

The semi-final weight is 70g. Factoring in all the stem removal along the way, this is between 25-30% of the harvest weight, so now I cure it.
IMG_8562.JPG
It will still lose some weight, but nothing a Boveda pack won't absorb. I have dates on top of the c-vault. 7 days across the top are the "burp" period. Each day (2-3 times a day at first) I'll roll it back out on the screen and make sure nothing is stuck, let it air out, then re-weigh it.
By the end of that week, it will be cured enough to sit for a week and will not be losing any more weight.
IMG_8566.JPG The bottom is a once a week check-off for a month of cure.

Yeah, clones are finicky. they also grow crooked and you can't plan what you are going to do with them. I ended up with about a 90% survival rate, but a less than 50% keeper rate. Kept one of two GDP clones, and 2 of 6 skunks.

Seeds are symmetrical, predictable, manifoldable ;) etc. And from the seedbank I buy from, guaranteed to germinate. I think I'm all about variety now. If I get my usual ounce-per-pot-gallon, I have 16oz of skunk growing right now...

Another thing I do early on to help get the moisture out of the big buds is to vacuum it. Like marinating meat, it opens up the structure to allow moisture in and out. I leave it vacuumed for about an hour, then dump it and let it air out.IMG_8570.JPG

Update!
Moved the manifold under the 65w until I harvest the small skunk.
IMG_8571.JPG
I did that so I can flip the 4 skunk - which I did. I did that because I got confirmation of receipt of my seed payment ;) They say shipping might be slower because of the season, but it's quick once it hits the mail. Last few have been 4-5 days from overseas. They have a lawyer and an office in Cali, but the company is in Amsterdam. So the money stays in country for the customers part of the transaction. Everything from here on out is guaranteed by the company until seeds pop.

I was busy burning brush and clearing some undergrowth on my property so I didn't get to post pics. Here's the new situation just before 12/12 lights out this morning.
37 days from flip. First thing I noticed today is that the pistils are all getting skinny. Also looks like the broken limb is surviving.
IMG_8572.JPG
20 days from flip. Diners, Drive-ins & Dives hair-do's
IMG_8573.JPG
Day 1 of flip - no pistils yet ;)
IMG_8574.JPG
And the only thing in veg is the northern lights. Since it's under a 65w and might not drink as much her watering today was only a half gallon. Wasn't a feeding so I'll just see how it goes by pot-weight.
IMG_8575.JPG
And last but not least, weight went from 70g to 68.5g in 24 hours, but nothing was stuck together - which is odd. it already feels dry to the touch, but still feels "green" if you take my meaning.

I was in no hurry to flip the NL anyway, so If this goes well with the 65w this might be a happy accident. I have plenty of room in there to start seedlings.

Stoner note for later. 30 days for the 4 skunk in 2 gallons to get to this point. I have harvested as early as 45 days from flip and gotten good dense nugs with a fat top even though there were only a few amber, it was good smoke. I have 5 of each seed coming, and could have 6-ish oz of 3 strains in 90 days tops.

I decided to aggressively pursue the vacuum cure technique. I have a pint jar with 28.5g of tops, one with 28.5g of big nugs, and half-pint jar with about 10g of smaller nugs. I'll monitor weight loss % by grade and start the official cure as they are ready. (one day with no weight loss)

Anyway, I'll post a smoke report in a month. other than that the 2gallon GDP that I was expecting 2oz from, will not be able to lose enough weight to be below 2.25 oz. I expect it to be 26, 27, and about 9 for the 3.

Ok I'm finally all caught up

Everything looking great as usual bud.

Looks like you ended up with some nice smoke , can't wait for the report.

How's the competition going? I haven't been in that thread for a while now.
Best of luck with everything.

Long time no see ;)

The "competition" is what it is, I'm growing my plants. That said there are only about 20 or so people still in the running for a ginormous prize list.

I am retired and single. I have a cat, but I don't talk to it... much. Today I laughed my ass off and thought I would share. With the Game of Thrones hubbub this just hit the spot.

OK, really really last update on the harvest until the smoke report LOL
2 things. One, here is a side-by-side. My last 1/2oz of GDP from the last harvest, and 1oz of the tops from the most recent. Almost identical structure and density-wise.
IMG_8587.JPG
And this is why I always roll the harvest out onto a screen to mess with it. This is just from various trimming and "shuffling" activities as it dried.
