BTW DrGreenFinger

i've recently added a 'controller bucket' to my aquamist so i can easily monitor ph, ec, and tds without disturbing roots as well as for me not having to lift the tops all the time to add nutes

if you want pics, let me know bro
not sure who read whose mind, but as soon as i began reading this post i started thinkin PICS! ;-) hell yeah, we all wanna see. that controller bucket is the shit. i was frustrated and wanted a separate res to work with.

show...PLEASE!!! :idea::weed::peace:

hell yea boss, i know what ya mean about being frustrated....last few grows i've been lazy cuz its winter time and i put my chiller in storage because i can maintain...but all of a sudden it got super uber hot, and may i add earlier than normal. I decided to freeze some water bottles long story short... i got pissed off fishing through roots for my frozen water bottles!!! Not to mention ph and ec monitoring

so i pulled out the brainstorming notepad and started tinkering....its nothing super sophisicated. it does the job and im extremely pleased with it. I run the second pump in the aquamist on a timer because my aquamist is higher than my controller bucket so it steadily drips as a rainfall even when the pump isnt on...so i wanted to make sure i wouldnt have no leaks...no overfills no NOTHING. And to be honest, my winning record with hydro is pretty damn good overall....the controller bucket would be my first overflow...and it was only cuz i was playing with my [recycle] timer cycles when i had already got them down pack. end game doubt, yanno? But all is good now

secondary pump on the right side that is on a recycling timer and pushing water back to the controller bucket

constant waterfall DIRECT from chiller (output of course)

and the infamous simple 'controller bucket'

the pump in the controller bucket pumps the water through the chiller to the waterfall on the left of the aquamist constantly. the return in the controller bucket is from that secondary pump on a timer in the aquamist

and a video if you want to see it in action

----------------------------

materials:

-1 square bucket (in my mind...square is easier for leak proof, grommets can be pita when they wanna be
-2 pumps
-pvc and some fittings/adapters
-Botanicare ebb and flow bulkhead fittings (i used bulkhead fittings for a tight fit and no leak plus i just used some threaded pvc fittings that screwed into the other end of the bulkhead....perfect fit, fucking genius! hose clamps to attach to bulkhead fittings)

because i already keep hella sprayers, bulkhead fittings, and other supplies/materials on hand to build at need...i didnt factor that into cost. With that said.... the bucket was probably around $40-60 bucks to build....damn sure beats those premade controller buckets going for $150-300 USD.

i've already ran line from my RO machine...ran it from a T already there, im heavily thinking about using it for a float valve on my controller bucket for top...however it will fluctuate especially cuz the pump kicks on and off. I also have my meter probes in the bucket for easy and constant measurements.

All-n-All....its simple....but i love this motherfucker. no more fucking with the main res.... and plus i'm not a fan of forced air injection... air pumps can cause wild EC and ph fluctuation. So i dig the 'nft' effect that has been added just with the addition of a controller bucket. Fast, cold, constant flowing water? Plus the 'aero' from the aquamist? how could i go wrong?

thats whats up LB. that woulda solved my headroom/need-for-a-2nd-res probs. what would be wrong wit' a broke/cheap MFer usin frozen bottles in th controller bucket?

good shit!

off topic, visited 1 of my outside sites today. fuckin deer got me for 8 out of 9. bitches! upgrading my repel game. suggestions besides coyote urine, human piss, deer stop (or whatever the spray is)? used blood meal and human piss last year, same spot, to get rid of gangs of 'em. didn't use piss this year cuz i was convinced it was the blood meal. i only used 1 app of piss (sprayed boundary) last year, plus most say it does not work unless you continue to apply or use piss bottles with holes and keep filling.

ya dig? i paid a MFer $50, drove an hour to get him, and cut him in for 25% to go out wit me at night to go thru 5-6 ft grass (for starters). scary as fuck for a city cat like me. this guy talks all this shit on the way. we get dropped and make it to the beginning of the long field (of tall grass) before the forest we gotta go thru before our opening, and he's shakin like don knotts. 2 scary MFers, middle of the night, military back pack on jam, middle of nowhere, alone wit' visions of "hills have eyes"... we had to improvise. just off the freeway, and up a hill where no one can see. :weed: pray for our dumb asses.

i just got my hands on the church (greenhouse seeds).
:weed::leaf::weed::leaf::leaf::weed::leaf::clap::clap:

with proper pruning and training the church should produce excellent results with this system. :weed:

LoudBlunts, what size tent is that Aquamist system in? I assume a 4x4'... I called them and asked if it would fit into a 4x4' grow tent and all he told me were the measurements.

If he gave you the measurements, wouldn't that tell you whether or not it'll fit in the tent?

The measurements he gave me were 48"x24", the inside of a 4x4' tent are not really 48" square, at least mine isn't. More like 45" square.
So in theory it wouldn't fit, but we all know everything doesn't go according to theories. That's why I asked because they are expensive and my tent is all I can use for now.

Ah, gotcha! That post of yours made me wonder if you'd put on your Thinking Cap today! ;)

I'm willing to bet that it could be fit into the tent. Squeezed in perhaps, and it'd be quite difficult to take it out for maintenance, but it could be done.

if the aquamist fits in my 3'11" x 3'11"

he should have no problems with his 4x4 and with room to spare.

i dont even move mines. the system has a bad ass drain system with a garden adapter so you can hook up a hose and run it to a drain. Me? i just went and bought a saddle drain valve that i placed on my existing plumbing in a bathroom and ran that drain line from the aquamist straight into the drain lines of the house.

so basically i have a sink that i can wash out, let it sit, whatever and just turn the valve to drain.

if the plants are growing an oz. each, will there be enough space for the roots? about 2 months into flowering wont the roots get in the way of the sprayers?

oh, the roots go ham now!!! pls blv it!

but no they dont get in the way of the sprayers....well at least not that i've seen.

either way i'll shoot some cannazym in there to eat up the dead roots and root maintenance

so you do have root problems? what stage of the plants life do you have to start worrying? and what exactly does cannazym do?

LoudBlunts

lol where did i say i have root problems?

on the contrary in my previous post i said that roots do go HAM

however, i dont have any problems clogging anything

i use cannazym for random things. eating dead root matter, recycling substrate, root maintenance, etc etc
