Day 45 Flowering.

Now some before and after shots of the Satori after being moved out of the shade of the Skunk Haze.

The first pic is show she looked on the 7th. Thats when she was placed more into the light.

IMG_0508.jpg

Now look at her, and her run off is right around 7, so likely bleaching. Quite a difference.

Day 45 Flowering.

Now some shots of the Skunk Haze in the back right corner. Can't remember which one she is.

First pic is the cola thats mostly in the light. There is a pretty obvious difference in the leaf health between this cola and the one on the darker side.

IMG_0722.jpg

Now for the cola thats hidden away. Perfectly healthy.

IMG_0724.jpgIMG_0723.jpgIMG_0725.jpg

I hope Im not sounding like a broken record with more and more pics showing what I believe to be bleaching. I just you all to get a good idea of what it looks like, and how you can spot it. Inspect your plants on sides nearest your lights and farthest away. You might just discover your lights are too close if they look anything like mine do.

Now a few shots of the SkunkHaze in between the lights. The top of her stems are purple. She's been like this for some time, but its gotten more pronounced now. Time to do research. Hope its not too a P deficiency.

Im gonna try to get some good overhead shots of these ladies if possible. They stand so damned tall though.

Well, yesterday I discovered I have had my clones on 12/12 for the last 2-3 weeks.

I apparently can't use a timer correctly to save my life. The clones I took a few days ago didn't appear to be flowering yet, so good thing I took them then. Hopefully they will be fine.

I decided to go ahead and take JTRC, C9, and 3rd D clone and move them into the flowering chamber. I dont have much desire to keep them as mums, plus I did take clones of them as well, just in case I change my mind. One of them is only 8.5 inches tall. I haven't seen any stretch out of them even though they're flowering. Maybe she wont even top 10 inches..lol. That'd be a site. Ill get some cute pics of them next time.

I also discovered what I thought was an extra C9 clone was actually a skunk haze male. This actually worked out better for me. I now have potential 3 different S. Haze males that are cloned, with another needing to be placed into soil.

After I make babies with the 'purp' bagseeds, I will pair the Chunky Male clone with my best Chunky lady.

My Satori clone is already flowering too, and I may just move her into the large tent and hit her with some of the Satori pollen I collected previously. Im not gonna keep her as a mom. Too slow in veg for me. Im unsure If Ill even bother to grow out the F2's though, but just in case I get the urge..

Skunk Haze mating will occur last of course. Im thinking of pairing the slowest flowering male with my slow flowering, Hazy leaning lady. Her buds are 2-3 weeks behind her sisters. If she turns out the best, Ill definitely be growing out her f2's, regardless of the long flowering period.

Here is a quote from Shanti regarding male selection for breeding.

The importance of selecting plants for the traits that are useful to the breeder/grower is the main reason genetics have evolved as they have. Male plants of this species need to be carefully selected to avoid a lot of laborious work, which means one will need to do a lot of testing of F1 seed made from a particular male to verify if the sex linked traits are real or not. Males that auto flower irrespective of daylight hours are normally eliminated to insure against hermaphroditism or unwanted male traits. Males that flower too quickly or too tall are also not the best for breeding since they put too much energy into fiber production which is not the trait one is looking for in a medicinal plant. Males that have large hollow main stems are sought out rather than males that are more pith-filled stems - the main reason are that large hollow stemmed males are better THC producers than other plants. Males that produce tight floral clusters rather than airy sparse floral clusters are usually better to breed with. Finally if you rub your fingers against the stem of a developing male and are able to get strong odors or aromas (terpines) you will be advised to use these males as trichrome production and flavor are directly related to plants that produce odors early on. There are several other traits to look for in a male but these are rather advanced and need microscope help which is not really relevant for the hobby grower/breeder.

Onto other things now. Ive got my Blumats installed. Too bad half of them were damaged in transit. Still usable, but I have to be careful with the caps. Grr. Ive emailed the Hydro store and the manufacturer, but no reply from either yet.

Well I think that is it for now.

Oh, and the clones are all looking much better underneath the MH. That HPS bulb was crapola.

Update time.

Day 48 Flowering.

Ive got some pics of the small clones placed into the flower tent.

Group Shot first. JTRC, 3rd D, and C9.

IMG_0796.jpgIMG_0797.jpg

The C9 isn't looking too great. I could care less if she improves. She's only 7 inches tall or so. If she doesn't start looking better soon, Ill replace her with a better looking clone.

Now some closer shots of 3rd D. If you'll notice the plant marker in the second pic says Chunky, but Ive ended up writing on both sides. Next time Ill get masking tape and place on them instead of writing on both sides, duh.

IMG_0798.jpgIMG_0801.jpg

Now some pics of JTRC.

IMG_0799.jpgIMG_0800.jpgIMG_0802.jpg

They really grow up before your eyes. I can't wait to see how they look in a couple of months when they are unseeded.

Damned seeds have really impacted my yield. Ive already harvested the DB. She could have gone longer, but all she was doing was just making more seeds. Yield is crap. Ill be happy if I can pull a quarter of smoke-able bud off her. Dont expect any pics. Im too ashamed to post them. haha.

Day 48 Flowering.

Ive got some good Skunk Haze shots. I could only get one out of the tent to grab pics. She's a huge bitch. Id love to be able to grow a clone of her outdoors.

First pic is showing her from behind. Ive always been a butt man. :hump:

IMG_0803.jpg

Here she is from her sides.

IMG_0806.jpgIMG_0814.jpg

Okay now one from the front. I think you will all like this one.

IMG_0816.jpgIMG_0817.jpgIMG_0818.jpg

Now, some miscellaneous shots of her.

IMG_0815.jpgIMG_0809.jpgIMG_0807.jpgIMG_0810.jpgIMG_0813.jpg

Now, for a couple pics of the crazy cola from the lady in the corner.

Very nice work. Love all the detailed info, just spent almost an hour reading the whole thing. I have a similar problem with mag deficiency. I think what you are seeing isn't bleaching, but more lumens is raising the nute requirement of those areas...so the deficiency is just shown more. That was my finial conclusion on the same problem, raised my ph to 6.5 and the crisp has stopped progressing. Keep up the awesome work +rep

I wish that were true, but I just dont see it. If there were a lack of magnesium in the soil all parts of the plants would be affected as its vital for the production of Chlorophyll. The Skunk Hazes on the ride side of the tent really show contrast between the 'light' side and the 'dark' side. Even the lower leaves on the affected plants look fairly good, so I think it has something to do with the lights being too close before.

Maybe its not bleaching, and instead I am seeing symptoms of heat stress. I think 15 inches was too close for the lights.

Either way, the damage is done. The later plants are looking much better. Hopefully this is a trend, and I wont have any big issues with the ladies in the future.

And before I go to bed, Id like to say thank you for spending the time to read through the thread. Hopefully Ill have some harvest pics in the next few weeks to reward everyones patience.

Thanks for the link. Im disappointed its a fem seed. I dont grow them unless its a freebie. Plus its 13 pounds for 1 seed! Thats way outside of my price range :). I think Ill probably go with Critical Haze. 18 seeds for 70 pounds. I get to make f2's, and Ill finally get to grow out some Mr. Nice gear. Of course, Ill probably change my mind about what I want to grow as usual :).
I didnt realise i had given u the link for a Fem Bean.. They come regular too, i've seen em, should be available regular through the same company.

Thats much better then :). Ill take a look into them now.

Hmm. Are you sure they come regular. All of Positronics seeds are fem'd I believe. I couldn't find any regulars on attitude.

Ive got some good news and bad news tonight. Might as well go with the good.

I fiddled with the Blumats some more tonight. It takes awhile to dial them in perfectly. I can't remember If I mentioned I installed them recently or not. I have a bad memory, but 13 were had cracked caps. I contacted the company and the Head Honcho wrote me back and apologized, said they were 10 year old stock that was supposed to have been recalled. He is sending me another 24 free of charge! The cheapest I have seen a single blumat for in america is $6.95. Thats almost $177 in free grow equipment! Kick ass.

Now the bad news. I am pretty sure that home made isolation chamber is a pile of crap. Ive noticed the Satori right next to it has lots of little seeds forming down below :(. I guess this is what I get for wanting to make babies. FML. Every time I try a home made DIY pile of shit, I get a pile of shit. First a Cool-Tube, then a Carbon Filter, and now a iso chamber. I swore off DIY yourself shit after the carbon filter, but noooo ohhh noooooooo, I tried once more. Thats it, no more!

Ive moved the males and two female clones out of the tent and moved to a whole other location. They'll get 68 watts of CFLs to continue flowering for now. It might be enough to make some seeds.

Ive collected pollen from the fast flowering male, but after looking at them all none are really appealing. Oh well. Ill still use them as they're seeds for a buddy.

My ladies are totally cluster fucked with seeds. Some of the least affected are the Skunk Hazes and 3rd d on the far side of the tent. Satori is nothing but seeds. Chunkies are somewhere in the middle. JTRB looks pretty good still. JTRC & C9 meh. Ive even got a few seeds forming on the Early Durbans.

Now onto other stuff. I finally believe its heat stress that has caused so many problems. I may have never even had a magnesium deficiency me thinks. Who knows. If I did have it, then its a great way to cover up heat stress. Sneaky bastards.

Just another problem on another..Boo.

I snipped off alot of the fan leafs from the canopy of Chunkies, and a few here and there from C9, JTRC, Satori. These leaves were more yellow or necrotic than green. Most only had 10-20% green left in them. Its weird how the plant wasn't removing all water and nutrients once they got so far gone. I wonder if they are left there to shade the lower leaves below as a defense mechanism. Seems logical.

I dont anticipate any further problems with lighting. *fingers crossed*

This grow has been full of hurdles once I got into flowering. Everything was so easy during veg. I hope everything is back on track now.

Boy you sure have had to overcome some serious hurdles. Bad news on the ISO chamber. I am a DIY guy and I find sometimes it just don't pay. Sweet deal on the blu-mats. Aways I like the free score on the new ones. if ya end up with to many beans, I wouldn't mind giving some of your genetics a try. Just a thought.LOL

Anyways fingers crossed my friend,

Peace

Yeah, Ive definitely learned its better to pay extra for professionally made items, rather than try it yourself. And no more isolation chambers..lol. From now on, Ill be setting up a tent/room far away from my ladies when making seeds.

Once Ive got some Chunky Cindy F2's, and Skunk Haze F2's, I will send them to Seedboutique, so they can give them away as freebies. It's the safest way for me to distribute seeds people may be interested in. You could then order from Seedbay, and request them as your freebie. You may or may not get it though.

Day 50 of flowering.

DoubleBubble.

I sampled a joint of Double Bubble with two buddies tonight, and am pleasantly surprised by her. A solid 8.5. Much better than the brickweed Ive had to endure the last few weeks. She's still got a bit of that bubble gum smell. Hopefully it'll really come out after a two week cure. Ill probably jar it in 2 days.

The smoke was pretty smooth and not really harsh considering it isn't completely dried. Lots of seeds. At least 20 in just two small lower branches. Probably only get 7 grams out of her when its all said and done.

Skunk Haze

Ill start off with a few pics of the Skunk haze male I once believed to be C9. This guy has the strongest stem I have ever tried to crop, and its so tiny! I was straining to squeeze his damned stem so I could crop him. Even my buddy was shocked at how strong the little fuck was. I finally managed to bend him over, but I bet he'll have a good sized knot in a few days.

He's taken the place of the Double Bubble Clone. Im not gonna make any seeds with a hermie. She dies tomorrow. He'll get to knock up a Purp B Clone. These are for my buddy. Might turn out to be some good girls in them seeds. I may grow like 5 of them in the future if PurpB is good smoke.

This guy looks like shit after having been rootbound for way too long. He's in a bag of soil now. Hopefully he'll perk up in the next few days.

IMG_0880.jpgIMG_0855.jpg

A couple quick shots of the Hazy lady. She is definitely going 120 days without a doubt. She's in fairly good shape considering she's a hard one to keep watered. I can give her water over and over and she doesn't get enough. She has lots of lower leaf scorch near the bottom. Good thing I dont lollipop or Id have middle canopy leaves lost. A little bit of yellowing on fan leaves nearest the light. She's the tallest girl in the tent, and I can't keep her cropped down enough. She's always growing right back up within a few days. I think Im gonna go in and do some lst'ing to bring her further down tomorrow.

Day 50 Flowering.

Jack The Ripper

Ive realized the purple stems on the Skunk Haze are because of the lights. All the plants directly under the lights have purple stems at the canopy. Greener stems are a bit further down. The Early Durbans, bagseeds, and skunk hazes on the darker side are green. Ill have to look more into that.

First pic is JTRC with purple stems.

IMG_0851.jpg

JTRB below.

IMG_0852.jpg

These ladies have at least two more weeks to go. JTRC will finish up first it looks like. B, maybe 1-2 weeks later.

Who knows what day flowering?

Early Durbans

The ladies continue to look great. Staying nice and green and real healthy. I upped their water amounts with the blumats. A couple were light to the liift. Its gonna take awhile to get these things completely dialed in. No real strong odors coming from them though, but some are starting to get resinous.

My Durban Poison came today. Got it in 7 days from Attitude. The seeds are larger than one would expect. Look nothing like small sativa seeds. Hopefully that means the calyxes will be fairly large. Packaging is great and top notch. You wont get crushed seeds from Afropips.

I thought Id throw up some pics of my sweet Kief box as well. If you dont have one, I strongly suggest buying one. You can get lots of Kief off buds with just minor sifting and the buds still smoke great.

I used it to to collect some pollen yesterday from the fast flowering 'Purp' Male.

It cost me $100, but its money well spent. Dry Sift >>>>>> Water hash, and its not even close.

Well, I harvested the Satori tonight. She was a complete and utter loss. 90% went straight into the trim bag. I might get a few grams of bud after removing tons and tons of seed. Ive already thrown her clone into the tent. Im not keeping her around. Too slow in veg, and the quadfoliate was just a bad thing. The main cola was nothing but leaf, steam and seeds.

I guess Ill throw up a few pics so we can remember her by. Im thinking about picking up a pack of Mandala Sadhu. Read lots of great things about it, and it'll get the ten extra Skunk Haze seeds I am wanting.

First pic is a few fan leaves from further down on the girl. She looked much better below the canopy. I may just some day take a healthy plant to harvest if I can get the lights just right.

IMG_0887.jpgIMG_0888.jpg

A couple shots of a seed forming way down below on the plant. She was heavily pollinated below the canopy.

IMG_0915.jpgIMG_0916.jpg

Now some shots of her main cola. Looks more like celery than anything.
IMG_0920.jpgIMG_0922.jpg\IMG_0902.jpg

She was weeks away from harvest. 3, maybe 4, so I doubt what I got will be any good.

Le sigh.
