Its time for Clones. Ive learned something really fucking important thanks to DoubleBubble. God bless her soul, even though she is a hermie, she's provided valuable information.

I have two clones of her. I put one into the flowering tent two days ago in a one gallon fabric bag. The one in the tent has remained in her dixie cup. There is a stark constrast in the rate of growth between them. These clones both rooted at the same time as each other. Damned near twins when they were separated. Im pretty sure the generic HPS bulb in there is a complete piece of shit. It was only used for one grow before. I dont know if its gone bad that quickly, or its just garbage to begin with. That could explain why I only got an O per plant with Nirvana WW, and bagseeds from last grow. Either way, Im replacing it with a spare 400w MH I remembered I had laying around. I should know if its any good in a few days. Oh, and the other clones under the HPS that are in fabric bags dont look nearly as good as the DB flowering clone either, so we can rule that out.

I really need to buy a light meter to measure my bulbs before using them, and periodically check the output every month or so. In fact, I may just order one tonight, so I can test the output of the MH, and another spare HPS I have.

Below are pics of my smallest Skunk Haze clone as she's progressing. Hover over pic for description. When placed into soil she barely had any roots, and barely reached the rim of the cup. Vigorous girl even with the shitty light.

Clone Side By Side.jpgIMG_0486.jpgIMG_0487.jpg

Oh, and I can say, I finally have clone for all of my ladies. I also decided to cull my lone remaining male clone from outdoors. He was the slowest to root, and didn't produce nearly as much roots as the others. All 3 Purp Males have been placed into the isolation chamber with a Clone of A, and B. Lets make some seeds! Oh wait, Im already doing that :( I discovered another hermie bagseed. Its been culled. But unfortunately she pollinated her nearest sister. Damned bitch. Im never planting another bagseed someone gives me. Not even if the shit amazing.

Here comes some Satori your way.

I feel like a proud papa with her. She's probably my healthiest plant from the first group to go into flowering. Her run-off when tested 5 days ago was also just right, so no surprises she looks so good. Id say the only reason she's had any real leaf loss is because of water-stress. She's a bit pale, but she's been that way from early veg to this point, so I reckon its genetic.

Okay, here is where we get into some interesting pictures. The Skunk haze below has already told me whether generic bulbs can compete with bulbs designed for horticulture. Case Closed.

Pay close attention to the position of her main cola in the next few pictures. Note the pole thats spaced in the middle of the tent for reference. On the 4th she was underneath the generic HPS in the first picture. In the next few days she has actually curved alot towards the Ushio! I think Ill be purchasing another Ushio as well, and immediately.

Here are a couple pics of one of the other ladies that is definitely leaning heavily on the Haze side of her genetics. I think Im looking an an easy 120 days with her. I was really hoping for a Haze pheno, so the long flowering time doesn't bother me. Im a Haze newbie, and to experience some 25-30 year old haze will be a nice treat. Hopefully I dont get a Skunk #1 high haha, but it looks like O.Haze is so dominant in this cross just from their growth patterns, maybe the high is dominant too.

3rd, 4th, and 5th are pictures of her other main cola thats on the darker side of the tent. Crazy branch.

IMG_0473.jpgIMG_0474.jpgIMG_0479.jpgIMG_0480.jpgIMG_0481.jpg

And now some pics of my last girl. She is the one that keeps reaching for the light. 2 days ago the end of her main cola was 8-10 inches lower in the canopy. She doesn't walk to that light. She runs to it.

Okay a break from pictures, and onto other stuff.

The ladies got watered tonight. Most got 48 ounces. Skunk Hazes took 64 or so. They are always the thirstiest. I didn't have time to top water, so I just bottom fed them, and boy do they suck up the water fast. I stopped giving water when the water became slow to be pulled up or stopped. The top of the soil is moist and cool, and didn't seem like they would need watered from the touch. I lost a few large fan leaves from the Chunkies, and some smaller leaves on the Skunk Hazes. Im thinking they need watered every day. Ive managed to get the canopy temps down to 83 after running AC full time, and lights at night. Temps when lights are off are 70, so Im happy with this. They're still transpiring quite a bit to go through a gallon of water in a couple of days.

That made me wonder are their rates of usage is normal for plants that size(never grown them this big), or perhaps its being caused by heat stress. I changed things around 2-3 days ago to keep it cooler, so maybe its not heat stress thats the reason for increased respiration.

If anyone wants to read some scientific stuff on high temperatures and how it affects plants can check this out. I just found it on google and im reading it now.

More thoughts.

While watering plants and doing a bit of pruning downstairs I realized I need to change how I prune. The only time I ever prune down below is when a leaf is damned near dead, or to remove small lower branches that will never produce anything. Were talking mini-branches. Or to remove larger branches after all the leaves have fallen off for whatever reason.

UB has always said, a plant knows when it no longer needs a leaf and it will shed it when it no longer serves a useful purpose. I should have kept this in the forefront of my mind before now.

Those lower leaves/branches that are never going to produce anything, not even fluff, still serve a useful purpose. You might think, "Oh but Im wasting nutrients on maintaining them, or removing them adds to the energy available for the canopy." Well, I say bullshit.

Those branches and leaves provide needed water and nutrients in times of need. The more branches and leaves you remove the less deposits the plant can dip into when it needs it. The plant knows when they're not gonna provide any useful buds for reproduction, but by god she still wants them around. Would you throw out a perfectly good snack or bottle of water if you weren't thirsty or hungry. Hell no. You'd save that stuff for later consumption when you need it. I think this is what our ladies do too.

Now, I only snip off branches when its become brown and withered close to the stalks, and I only remove leaves if they are crunchy and brown. Ill give my ladies all the time they want to empty them out and let her discard them herself.

Well its getting late, so Ill finish with some Chunky Cindies.

IMG_0471.jpgIMG_0470.jpgIMG_0540.jpgIMG_0541.jpgIMG_0491.jpgIMG_0542.jpgIMG_0495.jpgIMG_0493.jpgIMG_0463.jpgIMG_0459.jpgIMG_0458.jpgIMG_0460.jpgIMG_0464.jpgIMG_0462.jpg

Below are some pics of Magnesium Deficiency. Quite severe in the second one. Run-off when tested yesterday was a bit above 7, so Im happy. Much better than the low 5's they were in. I meant to foliar feed the chelated mag I bought, but as usual I forgot it. Im not sure how much good it can do at that this point.

Its good to know you appreciate it. I was up till 3:30 am loading pics and whatnot. Thats okay though as my boss called me and said dont come in today. Wohooo. Free day off. Ill go check on my 3 outdoor plants today and see how they're doing. One actually appeared to be flowering the last time I visited her, which is odd unless she's an auto-flowering strain. I guess Ill get a better idea today if she is or isn't.

Well, I checked on my ladies again today, and they looked great. Very minimal leaf loss below the canopy. I think I only had 3 leaves or so to pull out. Some days Ive pulled out 30+.

The ladies were definitely thirsty again. They got between 32-48 ounces or about 1L-1.5L. Skunk hazes were thirstiest as usual. Ive ordered two sets of the Tropf Blumats to help ease water matters. I really wanted to get 4 sets, but can't spend that much at this time. Got them for only $50 each when another hydro shop in Cali was trying to charge $95 per set. This after their website said it was $65 each. I was told those were 3 year old prices and that Id get free shipping. Bullshit buddy. Wasting my fucking time calling them. I can't wait to try them out.

Resin production is really starting to ramp up on them. The JTR's are looking nice and frosty. They looked pretty damned impressive under the pocket microscope. Probably 60/40 to 70/30 cloudy/clear.

Then, I looked at the Skunk Hazes, and damn are they frosty. It doesn't pop out at your eyes like alot of modern hybrids, but once you get up close and personal, you really see her for the beauty she is. I only inspected two, and one was a bit frostier than the JTR, but just much smaller trichome heads. Then I checked out the one in the back middle of the tent, and she blew me away when I looked at a calyx up close with the scope. It was just a sea of tiny trichome heads. I couldn't even see any stalks. Just heads crammed in next to each other with almost no space between them. Really really dense coverage. She was probably in the same 60/40 cloudy/clear as JTR.

The Chunky Cindies are also near that ratio as well. I dont think I looked at any others.

I pulled that shitty HPS, and replaced it with some cheapo Plantmax MH. If the plants dont improve within 3 days, Ill know its crap as well, and go onto my last bulb.

Oh and lest I forget, I highly suggest dry sift to anyone that hasn't tried it. God I love it. Sooo much better than water hash. Water hash is on the harsh side and makes me hack a lung up usually, but dry sift is nice and smooth and tastes much better. Ill be grabbing a 24 x 24 silkscreen for dry sifting some of the trim later on, and then use the remains for water hash.

Here is the screen Ill be purchasing.

Got a few pics and ramblings tonight.

Anyone that loves Indie Music, should try out some Lonely London Lad. You can find him on Myspace. Great music for driving after being sifted. The only music in my life ever I ever really bothered to sing to. I think I could listen to it forever. Its been in my cd player for alot longer than other artists. Lots of great songs, imo.

Anyways onto the plants.

I realized tonight TGA gear doesn't respond well to topping. Of course I was high. I think Im much more receptive to my plants while high, and really only notice stuff like this then.

The two Ive cropped(one JTR female, 3rd D) haven't shown much sign of forming a knot where cropped. They just take a long time to heal and actually have bled from it. Ive got pics! Its been 7-10 days is my best guess since being cropped. They never bled any when topped early in veg. It actually looks more like dryed up orange vomit than blood. Id have to say Im pretty disappointed with TGA gear to withstand stress. They can't handle water stress well, nor super cropping. They tips are the only part of the cropped branches actually sticking back up. The branches just lay there like a limp dick.

My next grow will have lots of cropping involved, so It doesn't look like Ill be keeping any of the TGA stuff as mothers even if they are top notch :(.

IMG_0587.jpgIMG_0588.jpgIMG_0589.jpg

Here is a bagseed that was cropped accidentally and has pretty much grown straight back up. I know it was cropped at some point in the flower tent, but not sure how long. Probably around 10 days ago.

IMG_0585.jpgIMG_0586.jpg

Now some Skunk Haze. They respond extremely well to super cropping. I can crop them, and the next day they are already 8-10 inches higher than when cropped. Its a losing battle when supercropping them, and thats no joke. I accidentally cropped a cola early in flower, and It was too short to be cropped at this point, so I hung it straight back up with fishing line, and two days later It had healed enough to remove the fishing line. This actually happened twice and within 2 days each time I could remove the fishing line. This cola is even pancaked shape. Not at all cylindrical. Sam really did his job on selecting his parents. He says selected males and females came from 10,000 of each! Talk about alot of work to select parents. With how stress resistant they are, he may very well have. Top notch trichome density, and stress resistant.

IMG_0590.jpgIMG_0591.jpgIMG_0593.jpg

I really need to crop some lower branches of the Chunkies, so I can see how well they respond to it. I dont have time for some pansy bitches who can't take a punch. :)

Random Bagseed shots.

First girl is really short and squat. Came from the same group of seeds as its 4 sisters, but they all stretched 2x as much as her. Ive never had a plant this short in flower. She's not gonna stretch any more I think. She's probably about 14 inches tall. I hope she ends up as one nice budsicle.

IMG_0569.jpgIMG_0570.jpg

This is a pic of KFC as my buddy calls it. Kant fucking Kill. It has lived a hard life. When it was flowered, I would say it had a 50/50 shot of even making it to harvest. She's really turned out well, and has responded to cropping better than the tga gear.

Day 41 Flowering

I thought Id start out with some more bagseed love. First picture will show what she looked like 37 days ago. Just pick out the 2nd smallest from the pic and thats her. She was actually healthy then, but then went into a slump, but rebounded nicely.

Picture 034.jpg

This is her now. She's exactly 17 inches tall, and done stretching.

Coming up next some Satori.

Day 41 Flowering.

Heres a few of the Satori lady. She's the least frostiest of the ladies that were first put into flowering. She also took the longest to flower as well. I think around 28 days before really budding. We've got a long way to go with her.

IMG_0618.jpgIMG_0619.jpgIMG_0620.jpgIMG_0621.jpg

This lower cola isn't gonna produce jack shit, but Ill keep her around in case the canopy needs to suck her dry. Cute though.

Up next some Purps and their clones.

Day 41 Flowering.

Some not looking so-Purps.

Purp B. Oh god. Look at all those lower branches that arent even gonna produce larf! What am I gonna do with them?? Arg. Oh Ill just leave them alone.

IMG_0622.jpgIMG_0623.jpg

Okay, Ill show you what they are useful for now. Its been two days since watering, so keep that in mind. This little larf producing branch has been sucked fairly dry to provide water for the rest of the plant. Im unsure if the plant will continue sucking water out of it now that Ive watered today. I dont see it making a comeback at this point. Ill grab another picture tomorrow to see what changes occur.

IMG_0624.jpgIMG_0625.jpg

Day 7 Flowering.

Now a few pics of the clones in the isolation chamber. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are one clone, the last two pics are the other two males. They're much slower than their brother. All 3 males have been in there since the 5th. That first boy can f'ing flower fast. Ive read conflicting statements about fast flowering males. Some breeders believe the slower flowering males are better breeders, while others believe its the faster flowering ones that are worthy. Maybe UB can provide a bit of info there. Hes made a few crosses in his time.

Day 41 Flowering.

A few shots of the JTRB. She didnt begin flowering till day 22 or 23, since then she's really taken off and surpassed her sister who began to flower 2 or 3 days earlier than her. I believe she will yield well for me.

Day 41 of flowering.

Well two of my Skunk Haze ladies went and got themselves in trouble. It appears they got too close to the light and ended up with some bleaching. Figures this would happen when I let a woman think for herself and do as she pleases...j/k :) Please dont kill me ladies. I think I caught it in time, as it looks like a mild case of N deficiency. I hope at least. We'll see how they progress over the next few days. I did some more cropping, and rotated them further away from the light. I dont think Ill be letting them set their own distance to the lights anymore.

IMG_0597.jpgIMG_0594.jpg

More shots, and a few that show off some resin.
