the link i gave you has a much stronger light.. thats the one that i said "shines"

the ones you gave a link to are fine.. just not as strong.. so plant height would need to be taken more into consideration..

Fantastic posting!!!

I started my 1st grow three weeks ago with the "bag seed" method as mentioned in the post. I am running 1 600watt mh and 10 26watt 6500k cfl in a 46x56x72 room constructed in the basement. I am new to this site and have to figure out the "in's & outs" of posting and adding pics, but confident that can be dealt with. Plan on adding them soon, cause there is a vast wealth of knowledge on this site that I am sure will very useful in the near future. Thanks for the help Cheers

i aim for 22" going into flower, which is why i'm after a good veg light
if you have a strong flowering light then those lights will easily get you to your 22" goal...

ill be starting a new grow here in the next couple weeks.... i am going to take a lot of pics and do a photo journal on here of things.. not so much the grow itself.. but more of little things like germinating seeds... transplanting.... super cropping and fim'in.. things of that nature.. im starting to compile a check off list of things i dont want to forget.. if there is anything specific that anyone wants ill be happy to add it to the list..

I've found 1/2 styrofoam reflective sheeting also works very nicely for reflectivity in my room, I just cut the sheets to size and slid them in place, tacked the corners with a staple gun. Turned out to be cheaper than any mylar or other film I found locally.
In the vegetative section you briefly mentioned pre-flowers, I've FIM'ed once, and now have some very nicely formed tight bunched circular tops, are these the pre-flowers?
I've started from bag seed, I think what I'm seeing is a skunk-indica hybrid. Bushy squat plants about 10" tall, the leaves all show more rounded out fingers and a nice fan spread. I'm planning to try my hand with LST on 1 of the few, any tips or good threads you can point to?

Thanks for this supremely well-covered overview. I've been searching around for some answers to my newbie questions (other sites, as well as here) and this is by far the most informative - and well written - coverage I've encountered. So thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

preflowers are actually "sex organs" that show from the plant.. ie the pistils from a female or the start of pollen sacs for males... so if you are vegging out a female, for instance, and start seeing pistils popping up all over then you know you have a female...

it sounds like for the most part you have your ducks in a row.. http://www.marijuanagrowing.eu/dubman-guide-low-stress-training-lst-t2335.html this is a good lst link.. it has a lot of pics to really help you get an idea of how to do it.. or at least a basic way... there really is not right or wrong way..

hi! nice to find your post... first of all let me say i ve had a successful 1st grow... https://www.rollitup.org/showthread.php?t=91760. so i m not really a rookie lol. last week i got my first feminized seeds in the mail.... may be i m real anxious and thats whats killing me... i germinated 1 big bang and 1 white dwarf on monday. on wed. i transplanted them to soil... and waited. They were about one inch long, i used a 1600 lumen cfl. two days later i HAD to see how they were coming along cuz it felt like they were taking more than usual. imagine that originally we used seeds from the terrible weed you get in the street here in argentina, so this time we felt they shoulda sprouted already. the big bang had its cotyledons, burn or dry... thats how i d describe it. we did move the soil on the top a tad thinkin it would help. what should i do now? i kn ow i shouldnt have messed with it ... but it was quite an investment for us so it needs to sprout lol... anxiously waiting your reply.... if you have any questions i ll stay online. thanks

UPDATE: the cotyledons fell off and the root dried off... i d never heard about not using light before it sprouts so may be thats where i f/%& up. now i have one big bang and one the church left. i started germinating right now... although its hard to bounce back from this failure... please advice on what i ought to do so this doesnt happen again. does it have anything to do with the fact that these seeds are from a seed bank (fem.) in stead of the random seeds i got from my dealer's pot?? thanks again hope to hear from you soon!

alright bro.. so first off what you had happen isnt completely rare.. its called, for lack of better words, crib death... basically the seed just dies when its a baby... so dont feel bad..

it could be a combination of things.. but more than likely it was just the seed itself.. could have been an old seed.. or a not fully mature seed... or just a fluke seed.. its nothing you should feel responsible for or bad about.. nothing you said you did sounds out of the ordinary..

they light prior to sprout doesnt matter either... when i start to germinate my seeds, from the moment i get done soaking them and put them into the rooting cubes, until the time i harvest they are under light.. the lights i use are strong too... so a little cfl isnt going burn them out if my lights dont...

good luck in future.. hope your next seeds dont turn out like this.. let me know if you have any other questions!!

thanks for replyin man! well i hope the next two dont die too!!! the white dwarf was quite expensive including shipping and western union charges. do you know of anyone who ships seeds to ARgentina?? we bought them through sedagrow.com who is a guy whos like a broker. so may be the seeds were old. the seeds we ve used before were some caribbean skunk. is there anything i should look for in the seeds to know if they are no good??? we are tired of smoking the weed they smuggle from paraguay and the seeds we obtain from it dont usually germinate. well let me know what you think and thanks for takin the time. saludos desde argentina!

I'm growing hydro in an enclosed cabinet with about 4' of height room. Ending 1st wk of flower and plants are already within 16" of lamp. It seems I must crop them but I've been told flower is too late for cropping. Haven't been able to sex them yet, so I'm thinking there will be some more room when males are gone, and then I can scrog remaining females. So - should I crop now (and where/how should I do it) or should I wait for sexing and then scrog?
thanks!

http://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/feminized-seeds/cat_37.html thats a link to the attitude seed bank.. they ship world wide.. have a HUGE selection of seeds, strains, and breeders... so you should find anything you could want/need there...

their shipping is very stealthy and descrete.. they offer a ton of shipping options.. best way to pay is with a credit card (if its legal in your area) or a pre paid visa... they basically will send the order out the next day.. i put in an order yesterday and within 12 hours they have it packed and going out...

as far as seed viability there is basically 2 ways to tell.. the best way is the squeeze test.. simply squeeze the seed between your fingers with a fair amount of pressure.. if the seed doesnt break then thats a good sign.. smashed seeds mean they are no good... also the colors... they should have a nice greyish color to them... there could be dark streaks throughout the seed.. or not.. it depends... but white or whitish green seeds are premies and are no good..

mostly if you order from attitude there should be no issues.. they are a very very reputable bank... and if you have any issues, and take them up with attitude in the right way, im sure they would fix it..

well bro.. lets see where to start..

first your right about wanting to do all the "pruning" during veg.. once flowering has started its pretty much too late.. you should crop/top your plants about a week before flowering for best results... i would recommend going with FIM'ing over topping tho.. its a lot less stressful to the plant..

if you are wanting to allow them to grow out more you may want to consider doing some super cropping... just a thought

hmm.. what else... oh... make sure your light is always as close to the plants as it can be without harming the plants with bleaching or burning... depending on the lamp you can be pretty close... this will keep your plants shorter, bushier, and non-streched...

and now for the scrog part... scrog stands for screen of green.. the idea of scrogging is to place a screen (like chicken wire) over your vegging plants, and weave the plants in and out of the screen as they grow through it.. this is to maxmize the canopy the light hits.. and essentially makes every bud that grows above the screen a cola.. this is a trained growing technique that needs to be done throughout the entire veg cycle.. what im getting at is its not something you can just do when you start flowering.... sorry if that ruins your plans bro... you can try some LST if you want... but im not sure what your goal is plus there are some variables i dont know...

anyways.. i hope that helped some.. if it brings on more questions feel free to ask and ill be more than happy to help..
