any information on how to use ph up or down and how much.... im watering with a one litre bottle but will be goin to 2 when i transplant but ne wayz the product is from general hydroponics i checked the website but didnt learn much and the bottle just talks about how dangerous it is but if its so dangerous wouldn't it hurt my plants? do u dilute it , or anything i just bought it hopin i would find some info on how to use it somewhere im not a begginner but just have never really fooled with ph and never really had problems other than yellowin leaves any help is greatly appreciated thanks!!!!!!!!
ph up/down is super easy shit to use... its meant for hydro applications and/or adjusting nute solution/water, so if you are using soil and need to
adjust the actual soils ph then you need to get something else like http://www.wormsway.com/detail.aspx?t=prod&sku=EJND502&AC=1 that will actually affect the mediums ph.. you'll also need a ph tester to check to make sure your in range.. a soil ph tester is different from a standard ph tester... so make sure to get the right one for the right thing..

basically to use it just add it to your water and test the water to see if your in range... a little goes a LONG way... in my 55 gallon res, i can move a full point of ph with about 1/4 cup or so of ph down... of course your water will act differently.. but start little and add.. its always easier to add more than to take away..

oh.. and it is not quite as dangerous as it says... the stuff is made from organic materials... citric acid for the down and something for the up (not sure cause i dont use the up)... but it is highly concentrated and can burn your skin if left on it without being diluted... its fine for your plants and for people who arent going to try to drink it like its juice or bath in it... bongsmilie

my gut says to tell you to spend the money and go with AN... GH is great though if you are on a little tighter of a budget..

stick with a 3 part system... unless you wanna go with a 2 part system.. just be ready to get some cal-mag or other calcium/magnesium supplement for your girls if they start showings defs..

if you can afford some additives, and are with the AN line, get at least the bud blood and big bud.... bud candy, overdrive, and hammerhead are all excellent as well.. but the first two are the basics for them all...

if you are using GH definitely get the koolbloom liquid and dry... you'll be happy you did.. otherwise you'll see a significant drop in yield..

im sorry.. misread the last question you posted...

yea.. you can use either of those... you can almost use any nute in any application.. just need to vary according to medium and grow type.. some cant be used like that.. but a good majority can..

hey simpson love the avatar. Anyways i have two new girls there on day 15 veg. I was just wondering if its normal for some plants to kind of droop at night. kind of light there sleeping i guess. Every night about 1-2 hours before lights out the leaves kind of lay down then after about an hour of lights on there back to normal and no droopyness to them at all.
New growth is coming up normal and fast.
Thanks for the help. Nice thread.

Soil- Fox farm happy frog W/ Perrilite.
Lights-300w of cfl both 2700k and 6500k
Planted on 11/10/09
No nutes added as of yet. Transplanting tomorrow

Heres a couple pics from sunday(pics arent of them droopy just wondering if you know whats up.)

its kind of hard to say without comparison pics of how they look when they droop...

does the entire plant go limp or do the leaves just sort of lay down??

what kind of light cycle are you using??

they look healthy.. so i am still a little stumped... but pics will help (if you can get them).. ill do some thinking in the mean time..

congrats on the first step to being self reliant.. or something like that... its always so much more fulfilling and safer to smoke something you grew rather than something you got somewhere...

glad to see you subcribed... hopefully you'll get the answers you need.. anything else feel free to ask..

good luck with your first grow!

Hey thanks for the reply bro. the leaves are the only things that droop. The plant doesnt go all limp like you mentioned. Not as of yet anyways. there on 18-6 light cycle. they are beautiful and healthy as can be. Never had it happen to me like this, just a little odd. ill get a picture of her droopy tonight.

Sampson, I'm back. Hope you been good. Been a little delayed procuring everything. I've decided to put that v-drip thing in a sun tent. Any wisdom you care to break off re: any actual grows that have gone down usin them(good or bad). Don't have a fan yet, and could use some help on that one. I know I need an inline fine for exhaust @ the top of the tent. But do I need an intake fan @ the bottom, if so, which would u suggest? Also, I decided to drill out the ol 4 inch pots, & did get some good coco. Spoken to a few & read a bunch about people mixing @ least 30% w/ Perlite or hydroton. Already got some hydroton just in case. What you think? Hydroton @ the bottom of the pots to encourage the roots to go out the holes I drilled, or mix the hydroton in with the coco while fluffin it, a true mix essentially. Any help is of course appreciated. I'll grab perlite if ya think. Got rapid rooters, which I plan to stick straight into coco. Should I put any kind of rooting solution or other nutes in with the rooters. Gonna stick them under a 2' flourescent I got from HTG. Gonna def. need some guidance @ that point. Prob. lookin @ 2 weeks tops from now to be germin. Got that 400 watt HPS in top of tent. Thinkin bout openin front of tent & putting 2' flou horizontally facin in toward tent & plants. Whatcha think there? Sorry fo all the questions, just quickly approachin go hour & super pumped. Oh, also got good PH meter & a PPM meter is on the way. Thanks for all your time, look forward to hearin from ya. THanks for all help as always & stay up!

welcome back bro.. been good.. getting things around for my next grow and grow room expansion... things have been nice...

so i've never used a drip system myself... i have a couple things tho... it'll be hard to tell you what drip rate to start out at... anyone will tell you that.. so its a bit of a guessing game... best thing to do is find an average drip rate and start there.. if they need more increase the rate... they need less decrease...

your exhaust fan should be at least an equal cfm rating as the size of the tent in cubic feet.. so if the tent is 100 cubic feet you need a fan that is at least 100cfm... dont go much bigger as it will suck in the sides of the tent.. you dont need an intake fan.. the air will be drawn in passively... if you can get fresh air to the tent that would be best... or you may want to think about co2 down the road... if you do get an intake fan make it a little less strong than the exhaust.. its better to remove more air than to add it in so the tent pressure stay negative inside.. positive air pressures can cause warmer temps...

you can mix perlite or hydroton in with the coco if you want.. i would personally go with hydroton if you choose either... although i don't think it is needed with coco, it wont hurt either way... try mixing them all but 1 pot, keep that pot just coco... and see what happens... its really just a growers preference... it may be beneficial with a drip system tho, since the drip is constant and the coco holds a lot of moisture.. like i said tho, i would try both ways and see the diff...

rapid rooters are nice.. you dont have to add anything to them.. but if you soak them in some root 66 or other rooting hormone before adding the seeds it will help them germ and start out faster.... you can also soak your seeds for about 24 hours in plain water before throwing them in the cubes.. this will also help jump start germination.. leave them under the floro with a 24/0 light cycle until you transplant.. then change the cycle if you want to...

there isnt much reason to add a single 2 foot floro in your tent.. it wont put off enough light to really be beneficial.. if you put one on each tent side it'd be different.. but keep it simple for now...

glad to hear you got a good ph and ppm meter... those will be important for ya...

so i think that about covers everything... sounds like your on your way bro... keep me posted when things start happening and ill follow along.. anything else pops up before then feel free to ask!

no.. nutes dont compound like that... it will still be the same values (they are just ratios), but the concentration of the solution will increase.. your more than likely fine to increase the nute amount tho.. just watch over the next couple days after you water to see if it adversely affects anything...

they dont look bad... not at all... i was worried at first before i saw the pics.. i had a couple girls on my last grow that would go almost limp over night and perk up in the morning.. yours are not anywhere close to what mine where.. so you should be fine..

now if the drooping worsens, or they dont perk back up, then there may be a problem.. but i am confident in saying your girls are ok.!

Hi there I'm new to this site & growing mj ! Can I hav some input as to what strains are best to grow indoors for yeild ! Wud ak48 be a good yielder if grown to 4 ft in height with pots max ! What sort of yield should I expect ?
well first off welcome to the site and to the wonderful world of growing your own... you'll be way happier smoking your own than anything you can get... even if its not as good...

so your question is.... well... hard to answer.... mainly because there are a TON of variables... if you dont have enough light or strong enough light, the right temps, the right, well, everything, it can seriously damage yields...

plus a four foot tall plant is going to be pretty unpredictable.. if its a sativa dominant strain it will be taller and thinner.. if its an indica dominant strain, if it reaches 4 foot tall could be 1.5 times wider... your plants need to be grown for the space you have and the lights you are using...

to answer your question ill assume that things are perfect all around... now large yielding strains can basically be tracked to saying chronic crosses, big bud crosses, critical mass (a new stronger version of bid bud) crosses, and northern lights crosses are all good yielders....

as far as yield... well... you could get anywhere from 4 ounces a plant up to a pound maybe... again.. it just depends..

the biggest thing you have to remember is that more than likely your first grow will not be a great one.. it takes a lot of fine tuning and control of environmental factors to really push the plants to yield their best.. growing weed is easy.. growing high yielding, high potency buds is not as easy... overtime it is.. but in the beginning its a learning process....

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE

Hi I'm growing in a closet that's 3ft x 3 ft and over 6 ft tall ! I've got a carbon filter in there ! 400 watt hps with a cool tube ! And a fan in there for air movement ! Temp try to keep between 21c & 24c there a heater in there for when lights off time ! This is my 2 nd grow both in good soil useing bicuzz nutes ! 4 girls power plant each time ! 2nd grow still in veg ! First crop only gave me 28 grams dry of each plant they were about 3 ft tall in the pots were am I going wronge ? How can I increase my smoke ! Please help ! Thanks

thanks simpson i think i will grab a bag of the koolbloom or beastie bloomz to up the phosphorous, the koolbloom npk is 0-45-10 and the beastie bloomz npk is 0-50-30 thats good cause i didnt want any nitrogen. and if i do need some it will be little, let me know which one you would choose !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there could be a lot of factors that caused smaller yields... my first thought is you over grew your lights.. a 400w hps will only penetrate 12 to 18 inches into a plant... so basically 1/2 your plants didnt get enough light to flower properly.. this would cause the plant to waste energy trying to make flowers in places that wont be worth anything... so first thing would be to increase the amount of light or to decrease the height of your plants..

the second thing you can do is to super crop the shit out of your plants throughout veg... this will force the lower limbs of the plant to push upwards, while keeping over all plant height down...

what you may want to consider doing is splitting the closet into 2 so there is a top and a bottom... 3x3 is not a very large area to grow large yielding plants in... but you have a good amount of height... you could split one section off with a few floros and keep a mother plant going, and have another section or two that are full of straight to 12/12 clones... this would maximize the light used by each plant since they wont outgrow the light... but it would maximize the use of the space...

you could also turn your grow into a SCROG style grow if you dont want to fuck with having a seperate flower/veg room... this would help out a lot in your yields also...

basically what it comes down to is making the most out of the light you have and the space you have... any of those suggestions will work.. if you have other questions about super cropping or scrog or anything ill be more than happy to explain...

thanks simpson i think i will grab a bag of the koolbloom or beastie bloomz to up the phosphorous, the koolbloom npk is 0-45-10 and the beastie bloomz npk is 0-50-30 thats good cause i didnt want any nitrogen. and if i do need some it will be little, let me know which one you would choose !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well the dry koolbloom is more or a ripening formula.. i wouldnt use it until about week 4 of flowering... if you use the koolbloom line get both the liquid and dry... i havent used the other so i dont know how well it works.. but i can say the kool bloom does an excellent job..

the beastie bloomz is from foxfarms since im using the trio pack from foxfarms i think i will go with the beastie bloomz, i lollipoped three plants that are four days into flowering stage did i wait to late or next time should i do it at the last couple of days of the veg stage. here is a pic of two that i lollipoped!!!!!!!!!!!
