I'm not completeyly convinced those are seeded calyx. They swell up on some strains about this time in flower as they fill with resin. Glad to here they are drinking. If they are drinking then problems will be minimal.

I am positive because I plucked one off to see and found a nearly mature seed. Plus, the male flowers directly above were open. Thanks for keeping a close eye on me MC! Oh, also, are seeds from hermies always female? I remember reading that somewhere but I'm not sure if it's true.

Not exactly sure but logically there are no male genes in the mix so it should be. It also might have a tendency to herm the offspring but in your case it should be minor. I think it depends on whether it was genetics or stress that caused the herm.

sheww good call!! but if you like that strain now you got the seeds!! but how long into flowering before your buds starting forming.. im 14days into flower and i just have a bunch of hairs and little calyx's i guess their called.. ive seen other pics where 14 days and theres decent sized buds i feel im behind where they should be.

It depends a lot on how long you vegged for. Mine started growing hairs at about 10 days. After 14 they were just fuzzy like you're saying. I didn't actually see buds until about 3 1/2 weeks.

I have been giving my girls just pHed water for a couple days so today I changed the res and gave them half strength nutes. I also did a closer inspection to be sure that I got all the male flower and found out that my red girl has hermied as well and pollinated herself. Pics are of a male flower on her and of a seed that cracked it's calyx. I removed all the male flowers I could find (only like 5 or 6 total) but is it a good idea to remove the pollinated calyxes also or should I leave them there? I never got an answer about the spiders...should I kill them or let them be? Thanks for stopping in!

I would kill the spider, I don't like pests.
Yeah the male flowers on the red one is kinda bitter-sweet. I might consider letting the pollinated calyx produce a viable seed. That red hair plant is easy on the eyes, she's a beauty. A chance for another one with those seeds may be worth letting them develope.

Yes they are all on the third and fourth node on the main stem. I think I will keep a couple seeds from the red one to grow next time.

Well, I meant side branch. Sometimes if it happens on one branch you cancut that branch at take the hermie part out.

Looks like you have good trichs. How close to ready do you think you are?

Yeah it sucks cause both of them only grew male flowers about halfway up the main stalk so I can't cut it off. I'm thinking about 3 weeks until I chop.

Bummer about the Hermies, but you will get the seeds, gotta look at the bright side!

I'd leave the spiders, they shouldn't hurt the plants and they are great predators of bugs that will hurt them. Spiders are our friends.

Lookin good LT, lettem grow a bit, nice job bro!
Thanks a lot man!

Time to start saving box lids and boxes and hunting jars.
I bought a 12 pack of quart jars already and I'm just gonna dry the buds in my grow tent. Is there anything else that I will need?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Thanks for the tip!

I am planning on making hash with my trimmings cause it seems like a huge waste to just throw it all away. What do you guys recommend as the best method? I'm probably gonna get the set of bags from eBay unless someone thinks there is a better method.

Getting close to harvest?

Start getting ready now.

You will need some nice scissors, not cheap ones. Your hands will cramp and get tired, so get a helper.
Some harvesters wear rubber gloves to harvest, and use alcohol to get the trichs off of the gloves, but they make my hands sweat too much.
You will need several Boxes if you dry in boxes and several box lids for those little bitty buds that you can not hang to dry.
You will need some shoe boxes or containers to separate the FAN leaves (that have no trichs) from the trim leaves that do have the trichs.

You will need alcohol to clean the scissors.

I hope you make HASH and make OIL too with the leaves.

I prefer a screen to remove the trichs, instead of ice and bubble bags, but that is a matter of choice and preference.

Thanks Roseman. How do these look?

And where should I go to get a good pair of scissors?
all the Pot-Hydro shops on the internet carry good scissors.

We have two pair that we ordered that are especially for the kitchen, that we bought to eat crab legs with at home. They open and close very easy, and they are very sharp.

It is a matter of opinion and preference, but those bags are for if you have a pound, or half pound or more, I would think. I had TWO bags loaned to me, and I just don't like the stirring around in ice water, and my hands nearly froze, but I was stoned and not careful, maybe.

I like a Kief Box, with a screen, it is just right for lazy me.
I can use it as a rolling tray too, and save every trich that falls off daily.
