Going to be out of town for the next week so there will be no new updates. Also big news on the next crop cycle, but I am going to sit on that till I get home and finish and lock in what I am going to be doing. Fiance' is going to be taking care of the plants for the next week then it will only be about 5-7 days til harvest.

Nice shape on the mothers. Pretty buds. Great job pushing the nutrients just enough to burn the tips. Looking really great.

-Dude
It's only an opionion but I believe if the tips are showing any signs of burn there are probably other things going on such as stress and slowed growth. I don't believe pushing nutes so high necessarily gives you better results, but perhaps the opposite. I think he knows they are little hot, but can't so much about it at this point.

Most of the damage that is seen in the flowering pics was from me fucking up around week 3 of flower when I wasn't phing my water and mutes before I put em in the soil. I was using the constant feed schedule and accidentally took my soils ph to 8.7. When the plant finally showed my mistake it did so by dropping more then half of the fan leaves and doing most of the damage seen on the leaves as well. Was completely my fault and I have learned from it. I already know the next crop is going to be much better since I am going to be building a dedicated flowering room. Will say more about that when I am not posting from my iPhone at a truck stop and will give more details. I will say this much now. Am prolly going to be using 2 600 watts and 2 4x8 t5's with flora suns and haven't desired on what other bulbs. So if you guys wouldnt mind throwing out some advice my way and give me suggestions on what equipment you think I should buy. I am thinkin quantum ballasts with magnum xxxl 6 inch hoods but if you guys have some advise that would be awesome.

Snooch to the muthafuckin nooch!!!!

I use Advanced Nutrients. I increase ppm gradually over a few weeks, and level off at 100ppm below the dose that burned them. If you know a better way to push their nutrient uptake, let me know. There is nothing wrong with my method. I shouldn't say mine because Advanced Nutrients has a nutrient calculator on their website that will tell the non-novice to do the same thing in flower. Look it up, it's safe, and recommended. AN recommends 920ppm in week 1, 1000ppm in week 2, 1120ppm in week 3, then leveling off at 1180 in week 5. My increases are slightly higher but only because 100ppm was easier to remember than: 80ppm,1120ppm, and 60ppm.

We all have our own different approach in what works for us. I'd recommend you to read one of homebrewer's journals here where he does a head to head between dyna-gro and conoisseur. There is alot of good advice which I also agree with in there. It's a fun read with lots of beautiful healthy pics and good yeilds. Basically the main points are less is more with nutes, if you don't overfeed, you do not need to flush, and the plants wont be starved the last weeks when they are supposed to be packing on the most weight. It might not be for everybody, but it certainly doesn't hurt to see how others are growing successfully and might be able to pick up a few good tips.

I'd like to help with the lights jsamuel, but I grow strictly in the hawaiian sun here... :)

+ Rep for a kick ass grow.

I'm going the T5 w/ specialty lights myself. I am lucky. I have all but one of the types I need because I used to keep several reef aquariums. Thanks for the time served guys. If you were in from 93 to 2004 then we might have chewed some of the same dirt. I got dinged in a IED attack in Kabul in mid 2002. It's the reason I am wanting to grow. Good bud manages the permanent effects of my injuries so much better than the shit the Dr's prescribe here. I'm prescribed enough Oxycodone to give Rush Limbaugh a permanent boner. No thanks.... I need a healthy liver and kidneys to keep up with my homebrewing beer hobby.

I give them nutrients all but the last week of flower. No flush. I tried a handful of the Advanced supplements, but they are expensive, and with the quality just the Sensi Line produces, the cost is hard to justify, at no added retail gain. Perhaps with a smaller garden I would use some of them. Anyways, I have never tasted that chemical/metallic taste found in buds which were over-nutrient feed. So I stopped doing the flush and haven't noticed the difference since.

As you said, to each their own. My point is, the gradual increase I suggested is a part of the recommendation from the manufacture, and as such should be followed and considered the "proper dosage." Since I don't deviate from that much, I can't see the harm. Other nutrient lines may be different. I haven't tried many others.

Good discussion...

I'm not sure why, but myself, and the few other growers here I'd consider worth listening to seem to all have concluded 3 things about nutes, it's only opinions, so take it for what it's worth, but here goes:
1) Nute companies listed feeding schedules usually seem too strong.
2)you don't need a bunch of boosters and ways to throw away your money.
3)The flowering nutes tend to be shy on nitrogen, and it helps to add a little back in to keep things green during flower.

I know this perhaps goes against alot of the mainstream views, but imagine for a minute perhaps it has some merit, and try for a week. I feel confident people might just find they like the results and doubt there is much risk of harm in the process. I am always with an open mind, so I welcome any opposing views on this as long as they are backed up with real experience, and not just anecdotal evidence from reading other people's results. I won't ever take offense or argue, as I am just here for the sharing of knowledge like it sounds you are...

Amen. That sounds like gospel to me. It's funny because I hadn't read your third one before, but noticed it myself. Some strains more than others. I really like the A.N Sensi products. I swear on my gnarliest bud I've never had a nutrient damaged leaf in many a cycle by simply following the directions. Who-da-thunk-it? I started experimenting and found the step-up increases in nutes preferred. The nutrient calculator on the A.N website is spot on. I check ph, ec, and tds every time and they always match their listings.

I remember in a fdd2blk thread a discussion about cloning applied directly to branches with interesting results.

I have an interesting journal myself in my signature. Wouldn't mind having some Hawaii growing knowledge in my thread.

Nice, hey you wouldn't happen to have a link to that cloning thread? It sounded interesting enough to read... :) Ahh, you may be talking about "air-layering" where you clone on the mother plant until the roots are ready, and then chop it off and plant it. I've always wanted to try this...

first off, good grow now a question. how much space are you taking up, what is it from one pot to the last? and what size pots?

No link. It wasn't layering, which I've always wanted to try too. This was just cloning gel rubbed on the stem. (apparently I forgot to type gel last time.) It wasn't long ago when I saw it, so it's probably still up. It was interesting. I followed it when a few in the thread were trying it and posting the results. I didn't stay around long enough for their conclusions.

Who are you asking Captkody?

Sorry for they delay in responding. I am 400 miles from home without great computer access. Depending on your height and if you are going to do a scrog or last your plants I would say you could fit 2-3 plants in that space though if it were me and you have the height I would do a longer veg in a 10 or 15 gallon and just do one larger plant. This will be my last grow in limited space since I am going to build a new room in my garage. I think my new room is going to be 8x12 up to 8x 16. I know that tri and dude would also be able to help with your question so I hope they will jump in.

Also I think I am going to go with 2 600s in the new room with 3 4x4 t5's. Either going to be quantum ballasts or phantom ballasts. Anyone use either of these ballasts and can you let me know what you think oh them?

Hey, was this the thread? https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/59243-root-gel-some-experiments.html
I read it all, very interesting, but not for me. I'd prefer some science proving all this stuff isn't bad for the consumer of the plants. Either way I can appreciate the science and look forward to investigating it more in free time, thanks Duder for bringing it up... :)

I didnt get to take any final pictures before I cut. They ended up being ready to come down before I made it back from the south and my fiance didnt take pictures before she cut em all down. Right now they are in the drying cab. Will give stats and pictures of the final product right before they go into the curing jars. Also KP, when ya get a chance hit me with a PM, need to ask ya something about the SDXSB.

Just a quick update on what will be built next week. As much as I love Par t5's, I wont be flowering with them next go round. I am in the process of getting 4 1000W's for a new 10X10 room. Kinda kills my original question about 600W's, but I am so excited about a 4000W Flowering Room!
