DIY with Quantum Boards

Been lurking this thread as you know and seen some posts on QB during veg. I started a couple of plants originally using the QB panel ( Gorilla Glue and Bubble Bomb ) , they have grown much thicker stalks and branches ... No spindly shit.

This tech is spot on with its spectrum ... I personally dont need a veg only panel ( 6500 - 5000 K ) for my particular grow setup , but for those with a veg " room " or clone area ... I believe it would be exceptional. I have experimented using ( 2700k - 3000k ) bulbs and ( 5000k ) for seedlings and found the " warmer " spectrum to pull ahead on initial stage growth. That is why i put a potted seedling under the QB ( 18" as height ) with other plants. As far as i can see ... The QBs will veg nicely as is.

True leaves have formed and have not experienced stretch ( although it may be strain specific ). I expect sativas to grow " spear shaped " colas anyways but for my plants it has worked very well. I have multi stage plants under QB to see how each stage responds.

For me ( using tents / reflective ) i have NO need to ADD royal blues or deep reds -
Into any build i may do. For deep red - i have all red deep red G8's that i could hang above in the corner if needed but so far those lights are hanging in my last LED ( vipar ) tent. Which is doing ok with those plants.

Budz, I also agree the QB as is does an amazing job in veg. I'm seeing every thing you are. I popped a papaya from Nervana so I can do a comple grow from sprout to harvest with a photoperiod in Scrog. There is no doubt the QBs will do the job, I'm ecstatic with them so far.

Since heat is now lower with builds even ( with remote driver placements ) and such , it is less chance of " frying " new sprouts as with more INTENSE lighting . I could literally put a propagation dome with rapid rooter plugs on a warming pad with this QB running and would get a better germ rate. ( which i might try once i get some plants harvested ).

So many choices and setups because the " heat " issue is pretty much solved. With the large exposed surface area of heatsink ... You could use a small clip fan mounted in the corner blowing on to panel for even more controlled cooling . I am anxious to see what is planned from @robincnn with new panel designs - maybe a mixed board ( 5000k and 3000k/3500k ) or even better .... IR chips and maybe UV boards. With the longer narrower boards planned it is a no brainer that T5 will fall away , and even builds attaching panels like this at tent corners for vertical light options and fill ....

Lets hope trump doesnt fuck up the weed revolution ....

that type light is completely useless, won't even grow lettuce! there are many better options if money is tight, look into cobkits light engines. Just one will outgrow ANY ebay light under $300!

OK Ru Ru, my 2 cents worth...don't buy some POS off of ebay for $35. You will be disappointed. You will waste your money. Save your money for a real LED light engine! You hear all the rave reviews here on the QB...you won't hear anyone raving about how much herb they grew with their discounted ebay cheapo led light.

Don't take offense. Just trying to save you some money and a very disappointing grow.

No offense taken. I was referring to something to drop the qb board into.

Link to el cheapo?
I a looking for some crappy cheap or blown Mars or other to make into lights that work well.

I think he's just buying it for the case.
Just for the case indeed.

Metal brake and some fundamentals of cubism :)
If I had one & the experience. I was actually thinking of buying aluminum track, c-channel or angle, window screen framing, lexan, etc.

Nice. They look great. How are the temps?

Bubble Bomb. LOL! I had not heard of that one yet.

One of my cronies has a bunch of new strains he created. Hard to come up with names any more

How many QBs are you going to run ? Other than look I don't understand why the need to house them ?
Splash guard mostly. I'm brainstorming what to light my 60x31.

And as the amount, unsure, maybe 4 on the 320-1400 driver. If I go that route, for sure window screen framing / lexan. Built to fit. I'm not cramming plants in, I like some elbow space.

Bubble Bomb is from Bomb seeds ... Decent breeder ... I like their Atomic Bomb and THC bomb strains.
And am interested in their Gorilla Bomb ( GG #4 cross with their THC bomb strain ).

Had honey do's to do today and made my way to the depot. I happened by this little light for $20 and have been thinking of a small veg light. I use a T5 18" single for clones but wanted something a little more output when the tent is in flower mode. Will be used outside of the tent on my clone bench. Its a wanabe micro Quantum =0p 15W 80CRI 4000K

Awesome. So you are vegging at 3000 K?

Temps in the tent?

So 8 days apart from picture 1 and 2 of those plants then how many more days to the big plants?

Amazing stuff.
Pic 2 was on Dec 25 or 26, temps at 77-78, my tent is as blue light as Budz pics show I just don't have white balance on my camera. The 3000k "specs closer to 3500k" Is a good middle of the road for both veg and flower imo. As far as veg the pics don't lie.
