Do you live in the USA? If yes, why are you buying from china? It's not cheaper considering the custom fees and shipping cost
No custom fes...and im not from usa
For 10 boards thay ask me to pay about 130$ so its 650 + 130....
Or this one 460 + 50 shipping...
Well its not much diffrent but if its the same why pay extra ...

Yes it is lol.
How much cheaper? Also you can't be sure the product you are buying is legit,a lot of people buying from alibaba got scammed with fake lm561c diodes, there is a thread on ledgardener forum about chinese boards with fake diodes, kingbrite,r2t and feidaming are not tested yet though.

A lot cheaper. I can, because I've already dealt with this vendor and they have proved themselves to me. This isn't some random Alibaba vendor. A lot of people in the community work with Jerry. Really all I'm saying is its safer to assume whatever KingBrite's selling is legit than otherwise based on my experience with them.

Yeah I know he's legit about COB but boards are recent stuff so I can't be sure. Anyway if you buy a board let us know how it is.

If it uses all the same components as HLG's then its still just another example of Chinese thievery of intellectual property, one of the reason I now avoid buying any product directly from Chinese sellers. I know Kingbrite seems to have a good rep, but, especially if they are calling it a QB then they are right there in with the others who steal from us. F*** Alibaba and all who sell there!

Absolutely in total agreement. In my experience, that vendor (KingBrite) is extremely professional, and sends high quality components at a fair price quicker than I imagined they could. I've dropped a glass lense of their's on its face from 6 feet in the air with a heatsink attached to it and it didn't even scratch, much less crack. There's data posted on this site that confirms they produce high quality stuff. So if I, personally, see them selling a product (which has been manufactured in China prior), at a good price, I'm hesitant to jump on the bandwagon where everyone believes its garbage solely because its coming from a Chinese vendor. Jerry isn't a stranger to the community.

I just might grab one with my next order from them and test it against the data provided by HLG on their product page. I won't be paying HLG a 60% markup for one of their rigs. I mean if you create a visual representation of the data HLG provides you'll see its pretty much a trash product anyways.

So forgive me, but I am ignorant on this...How exactly does HLG 'own' this technology? What did they invent? Did they invent these diodes? If so, why haven't they patented it?

HLG is a prime example for why you don't go to market with a sham marketing strategy. The HLG-550 is miles away from a 1000w HID replacement. Its fundamentally flawed, so there's really nothing they can do design wise to overcome SE HPS. They tried to cut costs, and ended up giving whatever they had over to China and haven't even patented whatever it is they claim is their's. Its unfortunate, but if you want to lie to your customers and manufacture your shit in China, don't be upset when legit Chinese vendors start pushing your stuff for half the price.

If you or anyone actually read the thread, you'd know what was their design and what was not. And don't make shit up either. Where did I say the chip was HLG's? I said intellectual property, which includes their brand. And you can keep your antique, energy wasting tech.

I'd love to see one of those boards tested. Maybe you could get cobkits to do it for you and use his Sphere, get real, no user bias data.

Its already being discussed to tax home growers by the kilowatt. Won't be long before we're forced into efficiency.

I'll smoke my shitty bud grown with my shitty HLG lights thank you all the same.............

Calm down, its not my fault you bought a shit product lol. Would you like to go to their product page and load their data into a graph generator to see for yourself? Or is that out of your scope? Designing lighting systems is about distributing photon output efficiently. The HLG-550 does not do that. The efficiency of the diodes isn't even the most important aspect of the unit. Who cares how efficient it is if you can't distribute it properly. That's how it works man, no need to get upset over it.

Your bud is likely fantastic. I'm not saying the spectrum it produces is poor. I'm saying it is low powered and has terrible uniformity. You'll find that the non-biased HLG-550 owners say its moreso a 600w replacement than a 1000w replacement.

Actually, you know what's hilarious? They've decided to just remove the PAR map entirely from their product page now, so you can't even do what I've already done to produce the data I've shown you here. Such a transparent company with nothing to hide!

The problem is they use the same exact name if they made the same product an named it different I would be on your side. Also you get a better bin diode with hlg so you do have higher output I think it's worth it to pay the markup most people don't factor in shipping with Alibaba either shipping will turn that 60% saving into 30% after you factor in 5-10% loss in output it's really not worth it maybe you save $10 per board.

Please do show us posts from these unbiased 550 users who say it's a 600w HPS replacement.

I guess I'll play Guinea pig here..
Got these installed last night.
Running at 700ma I cant open my eyes inside the tent. I'll be needing some good sunglasses for sure.
These are 3500k 304 boards with the 660 LEDs from Shenzhen meijiu lighting co.
The promise LM561C S6 LEDs and I found several positive reviews of the boards from this company so I went ahead with it.
Total cost with shipping ect including aluminum angle for frames and all the wiring was around $1300 for 16 panels
Shipping was $202 and customs/duty was $16.
Rest of my stuff wont be here until next week... but I'll keep everyone posted.

Have you even plugged in a quantum board? My guess is no maybe you should just STFU till you actually know what your talking about. The 550 is plenty for a 4x4 tent. Also you know they sell other product right? Plenty of options if you want better spread.
