DIY with Quantum Boards

I was geusstimating max total power based on the 0.6 W rating of the diodes.
Yeah it is a little different than the LM561C boards. The VF is lower and really helps the efficiency numbers. About 2 volts less per board. Strangely enough the power draw is even lower than what it should be on the HLG-550 V2. Should be roughly 2 Volts X 4 boards or 8 volts less X ~2.3A...... Or 18.4 watts.... The 550 V2 is 472 watts @220V vs 507@ 220V for the V1.... Strange but GOOD lol.

Did you have any luck?
indeed i did have some luck. it must be luck since no electrical understanding was involved on my part.

i tried setting it up the way you described but 2 of the 8 sections weren't lighting up. the sections corresponded to the 2 connectors that weren't in use, so i figured they had to be involved in the mix somehow. i added one of the wires to the serial connection and the other to the meanwell connector and it worked. all 8 lit up at 256 watts!

hopefully all the plugging and unplugging and messing about didn't damage the board any. i'm quite sure my eyes are damaged though, i still have a checkerboard of circles in my vision.

now for the final step of connecting it to a potentiometer... cross my fingers it won't explode the whole thing.

a thousand thanks for your outstanding guidance.

What problem did you said you’re having with the qbs?
I believe i should of dimmed them down. I ran gung-ho and ran 1200 watts over a 4x9 area. Room ran super hot. Oh and i had a 750 watt cob fixture in there as well, also on full blast. And I also believe that with all the points of light the QB's have and the higher temps I experienced that there was a huge amount of hot spots. Which in turn created the severe fox tailing. Heat wise those QB's are right up there with DE's in the heat factor, one just has to be aware of that and adjust accordingly and i did not due that. It was observation at first that air cool hps blows those QB's out the water in terms of quality. But "maybe" i should of ran them smarter.
Then i get the one fan boy that talks this shit and that shit about there is now way a 600 watt QB should run hotter then a air cooled 1000 watt hps and he starts to talk about my ventilation system not being right and it was operator error on my part. But should i really tell the stupid motherfucker the roomed is sealed and enriched? Or just let him fan boy for a while?
Any ways as you saw the bud came out pretty good just i think could of came out better. Probably not going to craigslist the lamps, maybe in 2 runs i will do another led grow, just cant right now.

Not trying to start shit (and I think your buds look great btw, more like a 7 or better on looks IMO), but I just don't understand your claims about QBs running hot. I am only 24 w/sqft, so I can't full compare but I have low temp problems if anything. I run flower at night and my interior temps get down to 60-65F or so and I have a hell of a time keeping my tent above 70f with the exhaust fan damn near turned off. Even on a hot day, I usually only run 1 to 2 F higher than ambient. All drivers in tent, lots of fans, and a 440CFM extraction fan. I could see the COB fixture increasing those temps and intensity a lot though.

I ran 1950 watts in an 8x12 foot shed which holds a 52 square foot canopy inside. Not sure if this helps. I assure you it was very warm. Way warmer then 3000 watts of air-cooled hps. Again maybe i should of dimmed the 600 watt QB's down to 450-500 watts a piece and i could of achieved better results in terms of heat. Im coming from an open perspective here trying to have open conversation in a dominant LED thread. Just trying to learn. I don't mind playing the bad guy here.

So, before you had (3) 1000w air cooled hoods with active cooling (pulling air from outside through hood and back outside) while the room ran sealed? Just trying to fully understand your setup.

I feel you... I felt the same way about CFLs. They are hot as hell and were burning my girls up!!! I switched to a led light by Roleadro, and it burnt my plants also... Got my QB and thought it was the answer to my problem, guess what? Burnt my plants too! But, for the same reason as yours, I kept it turned all the way up... We live and we learn, don't give up on them yet... I'm getting two more for my cabinet space!!!
