Cloning directly into soil

Has anyone ever took a clone trim and planted it in soil and have it successfully root without clonex or anoether rooting hormone?

It can be done but your chances of success go up dramatically if you use some rooting power or gel. Get the **best** potting soil you can find, sift out all the sticks, stones, etc and make a hole with a pencil, stick the clone in it and tamp the soil around the stem rather than pushing it into the soil.

that's all i've used, dirt and water, every clone took
though i did do 1 clone in just water to see it happen, very cool, but tossed the clone after
not that i've done a lot of cloning, maybe a half dozen or so

im new to the cloning, so u cut at a 45 degree angle and make a hole with a pen or whatever and then just pack down after that?

that's it in a nutshell
2 items that make the difference
keep moist, that most people understand, but not sopping wet
and don't use too much light, that is what most people don't understand
it doesn't take much light to root your clone, just a little, like a 13 w cfl
and patience

You need to have some sort of humidity dome over it to keep it from drying out. Make sure not to have over 2 leaves and cut off the outer half of the leaves to reduce transpiration. Keep the clones misted about twice a day and keep them under the dome and if you can put warmth underneath (a heating pad on low or a seed mat) it will be much better.

for even better results... use a 4 by 4 inch pot ..fill with the seed starting soil..and place your clones in there..right next to each other.. press the soil around them slighty.... to can fit 25 to 30 .( cus once they root u will be separating them away) .then get a decent plastic bag or zip lock... mist the tops of the clones with water and then cover them with the bag..put under a soft clf light... or t5... come back in 7 days..and u have full clones..then take those apart and put in 1 inch plug racks... this can be done in large scale..say 50 to 100 per larger pot...

also i hate rooting gels as they tend to come off the plant..over time..the best is the powder as it sticks to the stem and its for good..you can it at lowes or wallmart..3 to 4 dollars!
