I checked the trichomes with the loupe tonight. I would say 50-75% amber on Indica upper buds, but an interior bud I checked had zero amber and hardly any cloudy. The sativa pheno looks like about 10% amber. Today was day 58 which marks the first day of the 58-70 some day window described by the breeders. Since the interior buds on the Indica need aging, I guess I will go awhile longer for both.

Is there anything to the Newbie growers books telling you to leave the plants in full dark for 3 days before chop? Also, does anyone know where you get silk screen, or is there a better way to catch the kief? Finally, I have a gallon zip lock bag full of yellow leaves... Pitch them right?

Ya no need to keep those yellow leaves. You'll get sweet leaf when you trim. The amber trichs sound to me like youd be good to go now. The further u let em go the more the terpenes degrade and thatll lead to less flavor. As far as the three days of darkness, I havent seen an amazing transformation and usually don't bother. But maybe some of the others could share more definitive info on that tho. Congratz on a successful grow bubba!

I'm not convinced the white is bleaching from the LED because I raised the lights up to 10" or so and new, white growth keeps coming in. Maybe it's a gigantic trichome forming :-)

So are fox tails a good sign? Do they indicate the end of flowering or the start of more bulking up?

A lot of theories about foxtailing. Some say genetic, some say heat, some say light leaks, some say nitrogen late in flower, some say that its the bud ripening up, some say humidity, etc. So you can see that there isn't a real definitive answer.. some people don't care for them, but I think they look cool. And I have to say again, those are the most unique ones I've ever seen.

Interesting...for me (IMO) it has always been genetic.

Foxtailing is awesome, I think it makes the buds look sexier. Hehe.

Day 64. After inspection tonight I have decided that the girls are both fully ripe. They are in the dark until Sunday or so and then I will harvest. Does anyone have a suggestion of a good place to buy jars? Walmart?

Yeah, I almost always rock Walmart. They have pretty much every size ever, and multiple brands of mason or "canning" jars.

Super cheap too.

I've gotten mine at King Soopers for $11 case. I did splurge and buy some of the Ball Heritage Jars in the Antique Blue. :)

Thanks guys. How many you reckon I ought to get. And I assume I want the larger size with the wider mouth correct?
