21 gets my nod. At 18 you are still trying to get your shit in one sack & smoking won't help motivate you to move into a productive life. Look around you & see if you can tell the difference in prosperity between those that smoked in high school & those that didn't in your circle of friends . . .

thats pretty inconclusive, everyone i knew in highschool who didnt smoke, cant even hold a job at a gas station, meanwhile the other people i know that smoked in high school, at least 70% of them own their own business's....

at first i thought 21 because i agree with that age for drinking (ever been to a club on 18+ night? it's awful. just stay home.) but then herb and alcohol are not the same, and young stoners are way less obnoxious than young drunks, and way less likely to get into trouble from herb.

about the old enough to die at war thing, i think if someone has a VALID military id (particularly if they are active or a combat veteran) the establishment should be allowed to decide whether to serve them. maybe the bar could have a special class of liquor licence or something. i don't think just signing up for boot camp should get you into a bar, though.

I started with edibles at 14, it helped my joint pain more than what I was prescribed. I started smoking at about 16.

I think nicotine is far worse... But it depends on the strength of the weed aswell and strain. A younger person smoking an indica to chill is a bit different to them running around buzzing all the time. Then again, there's the issue of this supposed 'amotivational syndrome'. It also depends on the maturity of the individual. If recreational marijuana use was legalized maybe the user needs to be assessed by a panel on a case by case basis? Like they already do with MMJ cards and those diet pills. ( They won't let you buy Alli unless you're deemed emotionally stable enough) That would probably never work.

Actually I'm not sure if it's even worth trying to pin down a particular age for all individuals. If I was over 21 It'd be easy to say 'don't let anyone under 21 smoke' because it sounds responsible and sensible. I'd still be in some very dark places in my mind had I not started smoking when I did and stopped taking all the pills.

18 is when you become an adult, the US is the only country in the world you have to be 21 to have a drink, it's probably why you's drink like pussies tho.

i 100% disagree, far to often are kids protected from life and the real effects/consequences of their choices until they are out of school in which case its no longer a learning experience, its just a path to failure. let em drink and do drugs in grade 12, Just so they can see exactly how their actions will effect various parts of their life... and learn from it BEFORE they go down a path of complete fucking hopelessness.
I'm talking about legally obtain, as in easily, like with alcohol and cigarettes.

My kneejerk was 21 but then I thought "who am I kidding"
They are gonna do something before then and I would rather them smoke than drink as much as possible. I think if you are old enough to go to prison or war you are old enough.
18.

The funniest thing is that 90% of you started before then. I'd say 16, having had a rethink, on the condition that they pass a test demonstrating a detailed understanding of the risks of cannabis an what it actually does to one's body. Too many ADULTS don't even know what tetrahydrocannabinol is let alone what it does or the difference between strains, which leads to misuse. They should be educated enough t o make an educated decision about what goes into their body.
I'd say most kids start smoking/buying cigarettes at 15/16. Maybe they'd smoke less if they smoked weed first or instead of cigarettes altogether. Like weed helped me kick my 10-20 a day habit.

It's 18 yrs of age here to join a weed club. Any less would be too young and how are they supposed to afford it at €7-9/g?

It is a given that if left to their own devices the majority of young men would seek pleasure over long term gain. Long story short I think they need a period to mature and learn self control. Even if that means having to sneak to smoke. No amount of testing is going to stop someone from being an addict.

I started at around 16, Lahada.

Ok joining a club is a different story, allowing young people to openly indulge with adults like that... Maybe a similar thing with drinking, where an adult is allowed to buy a drink for someone underage if they deem it suitable.
