So how many days do you consider always too early? Are there no 50 day pots?
days don't mean anything. what takes you 60 may take me 70. maybe are nutes are a little different. it's all bullsh*t. the bud will tell you when it's done. it "changes". it just looks "ripe". no magnification needed. you will see it from across the way. :weed:

I've been thinkin' two weeks after it gets "that smell"
Yeah, I recall coming across one of your threads where you describe, I think, the golden/amber? glow, or something along those lines.

I'd have never in a million years thought you in your later 20's . . . future's quite bright.

Oops. Thought I read earlier in this thread that about 10 years ago, you were about 15. I see now that I cited the wrong poster.
Well, in that case, your future sux and you may as well end it all today! LOL!

FDD, may i ask what you prefer as to the trichs being cloudy to amber, like a percentage? i'm looking at a quite enjoyable high, something that will put me on my ass and will make anything funny with an all over body high

Everyone reacts differently to weed but in general I find it to be true that I get more of a depressing high from amber trichs. More stoned out of my mind to the point I can easily forget to laugh or be too baked to even follow a tv show.

Still totally enjoyable high, but I just prefer earlier (but not premature) buds.

haha, forget to laugh, you know the point where you lay down to go sleep and you get those shocks through your body where you can't control it, shit like that

Its September 24 here in New England and my buds are looking nice, but I'd like more weight. When does the largest increase in weight take place?

When your buds get covered with ice from an un-scheduled weather event they'll really pick up some weight!

But seriously, I don't know for sure, but suspect quite a bit of activity takes place during flower weeks 4-7?

overripe is all just opinion surely, it does change the high though. i grew my first plant and sampled some way before it was ready, it was really nice and speedy not stoney at all but not long lasting or potent, i let my ak48s go like 9-10 weeks and regretted it, so it was over ripe for me as they lost their raciness, but also if i'd wanted some bedtime weed i could have let it go longer probably, as i said was my first plants so haven't got a clue what going over looks like.

was reading a subcool thread about harvesting early and i think it said about harvesting pure sativas about 30% amber because if you go further you will be ruining the desired effects, like you get sativas for their purer effect you don't want the thc degrading giving you body buzz, you'd get a hybrid.

I'm about 6 weeks into flowering with really nice buds I'm just hoping for more weight. Does a frost kill the plant?

I love the way your threads always get hijacked FDD.

Well anyways I will have to agree with your argument. I beleive that the color and percentage of hair/trichomes being different colors is just a ballpark estimate for non experienced growers that need something definitive that tells them their plant is "ready."

As for overripe buds, non-existent. If it gets you high then stop complaining. :)

But having only sleepy couch lock bud doesn't work out so well if you are a 24/7 wake and bake stoner who even goes to work stoned.

Damn, it must be nice to have fdd living next door. Your neighbor is a fool mate.
Some people ask for advice to try to fulfill their preconceived notions, and when said advice doesn't match said notions, they discard the advice as if it never happened.

over-ripe buds are no good.... they tend to lose their stickyness and freshness.
i hate smoking a bud that is powdery dry has that 'solid' sorta hollow flavor- tastes like cardboard or somthing and it dont get u stoned.

harvest when 85% pistols are nice and dark and 15% white pistols.

it is NOT true that it gets you more stoned if the hairs are all 100% red/brown and the bud is powderizing itself....
even if you were doing it for yeild, you would be lucky to get an extra gram to the ounce by trying to mature it to that point.

the 'window' of oppertunity for harvesting when it is 'perfect' is roughly 10 days for indoor, and about 14 days for outdoor.
Im sorry your not seriously going to enter an educated discussion about harvesting and talk about amber hairs are you? Hairs are a good indicator but you have to look at the trichs . And just because you let your bud grow longer doesnt mean its going to be dry and taste like cardboard, thats just old dry weed:-P
