I let a small plant do its thing, it went from flowering back to veg a little and continued to flower. It was finally cut down 1-2 months after it would have been done. I havnt really smoked it even though its been in a baggy now for over half a year, i know i rolled up a joint at least once to try it out.
I dont remember the exact effect of it, ive got nice buds so i havnt needed to really smoke this experimental plant, but ill take some hits tomorrow and let you know what 2 month overdone buds are like.

fdd, you are dead on the money! I think THE biggest mistake a new grower makes is chopping to soon. They work their azz off to get to the point of a harvest and they simply can't wait. I blame it all on experience...or lack of. I watch my trichs but honestly, you can just "tell" when a plant is ready. You sorta gain a feel for how the plant looks. It also helps to grow the same strain for awhile.

I really never knew what "ripe" herb was until I started growing. It also helps to have a good supply of personal stash. That way you can allow your plants to ripen and then give them a good proper cure. mmmmm good!

That one damn near knocked me out of my chair. I don't think I'll ever stop laughing......

yea, where's vi when you need someone to protest this life destroying behavior? next thing you know everyone will be aborting their seedlings.

I think people cut too soon because they get tired of waiting. We're like little kids in the car "are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?"

I have a question that is somewhat related, My plant was in 12/12 for 9 days before it showed gender. When I count how long it's been flowering I don't count those 9 days do I? I mean it really wasn't flowering yet.

Monday will be 5 weeks since I started 12/12, but actually only not quite 4 weeks of flowering?

over-ripe buds are no good.... they tend to lose their stickyness and freshness.
i hate smoking a bud that is powdery dry has that 'solid' sorta hollow flavor- tastes like cardboard or somthing and it dont get u stoned.

harvest when 85% pistols are nice and dark and 15% white pistols.

it is NOT true that it gets you more stoned if the hairs are all 100% red/brown and the bud is powderizing itself....
even if you were doing it for yeild, you would be lucky to get an extra gram to the ounce by trying to mature it to that point.

the 'window' of oppertunity for harvesting when it is 'perfect' is roughly 10 days for indoor, and about 14 days for outdoor.

bullsh*t. you're just repeating what you've heard to justify the wrongness. i let a plant go last year until all the trichs were amber. then i let it go 3 more weeks. no headache and no couch lock.

you have to go weeks to go to long. stop it!!!!!!!!! :fire:
Scratches head... Well if you have a sativa dominate strain and you let everything go amber then that would probably be a pretty good smoke. I highly doubt to many people would enjoy a indica dominate strain that has grow for a few weeks past its prime harvest period.

Regardless I would not suggest anyone to harvest past 100% amber trich.

i keep hearing/seeing people harvest early. i've been giving my neighbor advice all summer. i told her last week those purple erkel had 4 weeks left to go. told her to start flushing them now and they would be fully purple by the time they were ready. my buddy stood right there and told her as well. today they are gone. she chopped them down 2 days ago. WTF????

your buds DO NOT go "bad"(????) if you wait to long. i know how long is too long and it's way longer than anything i've ever seen posted here. all that happens is you get a "stonier" high. you do want to get "stoned" don't you?

stop harvesting "premies"!!!! :fire:

Hahaha, this one made me laugh Fdd. I'll share a story with you two. About 10 years ago, when me and my friend were around 15, I helped him geta grow started. My cousins were really into all of it so I knew a lot for my age. My friend gets his plant going, about 4 weeks into veg, it was looking pretty good. I got to his house one day with my bong in my back pack a good ol bag of greens from my cousins themselves and began to bust it up, I asked him how the plant looked today and he's like "it was ready this morning so I decided to chop it down." and proceeds by showing me a big back of plant matter ground to dust in a ziplock baggie. "Look at how much I got dude....you don't even have to share." So I didnt, and I got high as fuck and he got a huge headache and passed out lol.

Sometimes some people cant be helped lol

Well if you have to hike to your plot...your more than likely going to be either early or late unless you like to walk alot....more often than not it's a bit late...premature indoors is unacceptable...patience is hard to teach brother..I like the crystals to give the bud an amber glow under light haven't looked with a mag glass in along time but I think I like to let my stuff go a bit longer than most...to each his or her own I guess but that early really is a waste why waste all that time ask her? and show her how again I guess.....I'm still waiting and I'm out so I won't go hang out in my room today:( hope my buddy gets here soon....:)

Nice bud there fdd. Made my mouth water kinda :)

I was referring to the color of the trichromes themselves and not the white hairs. Maybe I just mis-read the first post :P
