4 Kessil H350 - 600W HID Comparison; the highlight reel

I have a grow journal going but wanted to post the highlights here since this is the LED forum. I am comparing 4 Kessil H350's with a Nextgen 600W HPS. I'm starting with pics at two weeks since its boring before that.
Thanks for viewing.

HID left - LED right

I chose two control plants that were the same height for weekly comparisons.

I am surprised at the color difference. All the HID plants are lighter in color. It may be due to the heat because its about 84-86 under the HID because I don't want to add AC. I haven't checked temp at the LED canopy yet, but am assuming its a few degrees lower.

I'll post after each week ends. And I'll figure out how to add my journal to my signature soon.

Subbed up! This will be interesting. Been debating if I should try out some kessils myself. This might push me over the edge. What strain? Thanks for sharing with the community, good luck!

What color are you using? Are all 4 of the Kessils the Magenta color or the Deep Purple or a mixture of both?? Lookin real nice.!!!

I had a lot of 5 gallon smart pots laying around but only needed about 2 gallons of soil. I don't like trying to use the sides of the s.p. for tying down because it tugs at the pot. That's when I came up with the fence idea. I used it during the first 4 weeks of veg but removed the wires going into flower.

are you using 4 kessils over 1 plant and 1 400 under 1 plant ? i have a 350 kessil magenta that i used under 1 plant and after seeing how it was doing 4 weeks into flower i took that plant and put it under my 1000 watt grow and the plant took off running.

I am currently running 8 plants on each side of the tent. That's 8 under the 600W and 8 under the 4 Kessils. The next run will be 12 plants each in 2 gallon plastic pots. I don't like having to use two hands to lift a pot. I have grown larger plants before, but because I only need to fill two 4*4 spots, I find more small plants easier than trying to fill the space with 1-4 plants.

As far as the plant taking off under the 1000W, of course it did. I'm hoping 4 Kessils can keep up with a 600, 1 Kessil vs a 1000W is apples to oranges.

My goal here is to eliminate HID. I dislike the heat, the cooling aspect, the noise, the wasted light spectrum. They are simply brute force. Think more 'gentlemens grow'. Last, I have back problems so easy is better. Messing with kessils is easy for me, HID are akward at best.

i am curious to see what happens with multiple kessils. i bought one to experiment with. i do like leds. to clarify i did not take the plant i had under the kessil and put it as the only plant under the 1000 watt. there were already 4 other plants flowering under it when i put it under the 1000 wattt. i wasnt liking the growth i was getting under a single kessil and had some room in the 1000 hps area and the plant exploded once i did that. i think kessils are more for supllemental lighting. i hope you prove me wrong with multiple units. i truly hate hid lighting for many reasons but it sure pumps out some product...

711 - sorry to sound so pissy in my last post. I didn't mean to come across that way.

"i truly hate hid lighting for many reasons but it sure pumps out some product..." Amen

I'm certainly committed to putting out the $ to fully test these and hope others can benefit from that.

Looking for the best deal I can find on the h350s. So far it's amazon @ $375...where did you get yours and at what price if you don't mind me asking?

Local shop; they gave me a great deal at $375 as long as I photo journaled the whole thing.

JJ - Looking forward to your results....I am a big Kessil fan.
FYI - I am using 2 Kessil 350s with a 90w UFO on a current grow. I paid $329.oo each for the Kessils. Contact Brent at EHydroponics.com. He is great to work with and I couldn't find a better price anywhere. I live in Australia and he offered to re-pack the lights to cut shipping costs for me. I also had a Kessil 150W Bloom Booster in my tent, but for some reason, it was generating more heat than the 350s, so I took it out. Figured 270w for a single plant was sufficient.

First thing, the yellowing on the HID was not a fair comparision. Not all the HID plants are that yellow.
The heat issue can't be ignored with the HID. I figure it's some 2-3 degrees cooler on the floor of the tent for the LED's. I'm thinking the heat is causing more uptake, thus more yellowing because the feed schedule is the same for both plots.

I chose new control plants. Since I'm using seed there is a short version and tall version.
