First Grow - A.M.S. Feminised

Hello everyone! Let me first say that I am excited about posting here after about a month of researching this forum. I must say that I found so much information here.

About the grow:
  • Seeds: 5 Feminised A.M.S. from Dr. Chronic and one so-so bagseed
  • Had 5 Strawberry Haze Fems also, but alas, they formed a tap root, but tha was all. Damn shame because that would have been some a great smoke.
  • Lights: 2 - 200 Watt fluorescent lights/ electronic ballast and reflector for vegetation and 1 600 Watt HPS for flowering
  • Medium: Fox Farm Light Warrior
  • Closet Dimensions: 2 x 5 x 8
  • Bagseed potted on 9-27-07
  • A.M.S. potted on 10-10-07
The one bagseed has been vegging for 3 weeks now. It was potted in (don't hate me) Miracle Grow and was vegging under a 23 watt CFL for two weeks until I got the 2 flouros and has since been re-potted. It had nute-lockout from a very low ph. When I got the ph meter, I flushed and it seems to be doing better. If someone thinks there is something else wrong with it, please let me know.

the 5 others have now been in the medium for 5 days now (since germination in a terrarium). They also seems to be doing good.

The ph of the run-off is hovering around 6.5 and the temp range is 73-80F.

Some pics here. That's all for now.

Well, 4 of the A.M.S's are doing just fine, but the 5th on is very small. I hope it starts to catch up soon. The 3 week old looks like it's in a little trouble. It's got rust colored spots on the 2 biggest fan leaves and the next 2 biggest fan leaves are now showing signs of this also.

I flushed it with ph 7 water and then flushed with one quart water and one teaspoon Epsom salt as I think it has a magnesium deficiency. IF anyone has a better diagnosis as to what is happening, please let me know.

4 long months to go. bongsmilie

That is all. :bigjoint:

Well, I forgot my camera at work today, so no new images. All the plants are doing just fine with some new growth.

I watered this morning with about a cup and a half ph balanced water with a few drops of hydrogen peroxide. The PH of the run-off is right around 7 and the temp is a nice 78 degrees as it was a little warm out today.

The oldest of the bunch seems to be getting a little better and will continue to monitor very closely.:eyesmoke:

That is all. :weed:

Well bad news today. I lost one A.M.S. It just didn't want to grow. I had to make room or a back-up I had germinating. Just bagseed, however. Still waiting on more seeds from the good Dr.Chronic. Since the Strawberry Haze was a dud, he is sending Cosmic Nights and a freebie.

And more bad news, 3 week old lost a lot of leaves and not too sure if she'll recover. The growth at the top seems to be doing great, but the rust spots seem to keep appearing. There are no rust colored spots at the moment.

The other 4 A.M.S seem to be doing good. I just wish they would grow faster.

I think we got a female. I just hope she recovers.

Didn't forget my camera today.:bigjoint:

That is all.

Well, Looks like I might loose another AMS, along with the 4 week old. They are just not looking good. The others just don't seen to be growing, but I am sure that they will be fine. Should have the Cosmic Night seeds real soon and the other seeds I have germinating will replace the ones that didn't make it. A couple of weeks behind with a few plants is better than a few months, I guess.

That is all.

About ready to place some cracked seeds in the terrarium to replace the ones that I lost. Got some more soil and nutrients for when they need it. Just a few more hours to warm up the rock wool and then the seeds go in.

Got a bag of Fox Farm Organic Soil and Fox Farm Big Grow which is specifically for veg growth after being in the soil for 3 weeks.

I think that that only one plant is going to make it. The others just don't want to grow as the pictures show.

A few more images on the next page.

That is all.

Small update here.

The one AMS finally seems to be growing a little while the 2 others are still questionable as to whether or not they will improve. The now 4 week old is all but dead. So sad, she went before here time.

*****Bagseeds - I am out. I have 4 in the terrarium and 4 in a paper towel, but I want to get a few more germinating just in case they are duds.

That is all.

Small update before I fly out the door.

Not too much of a change, but with Super Thrive going into the water as soon as I get home tonight, I should start to see some better root growth with the new seedlings and the three other ones (I hope)

That is all. :weed:

Just another small update to the post above.

Right now there are 16 seeds in water. When I got home, I noticed that there were 2 that are showing the tap root (one more than than the other) and I think those two are going to take off. I am going to put most of the seeds in soil tomorrow and will use Super Thrive in the water.

And here's to hoping that the seeds from Dr. Chronic will arrive sometime this week.

That is all.

I wish these seeds would crack their shell and start to grow. I still have 14 seeds under a towel on the warm mat waiting to crack the shell. I did put two that did crack the shell in the soil to day after work. Those two started to show the tap root, but that's about all it has done for the past full day. Time will tell.

AMS #1 is doing just fine. In fact, she seems to have grown a little more since this morning (not that I can really tell since I look at them every day). The other two are still very small and not growing very much. AMS #2 does have a new set a leaves starting to grow, so I think it might recover just fine. AMS #3 does not look too good and I am fearful that it might not make it.

Bagseed #3, 4, 5, and 6 went in the soil Monday night with no tap root showing.

Bagseed #1 and #2 just went in the soil today with the tap root showing as I already stated. I think these two might do nice.

Still no seeds from Dr. Chronic, but since it's only been about a week, I am thinking they will arrive sometime this week.

That is all.

Small update here. Not much going on, with the 3 that are trying to veg. I had 2 Lowryder seeds crack and show a tiny sliver of root - very small and one Cosmic Night seeds cracked as well. I think these seeds are going to be good. Will continue to watch the 2 small ones and see what happens. Enjoy.

That is all.

Wel1, now AMS #1 has what the experimental plant had. The bottom leaves are turning a rust color and it's spreading. I am doing research now as to what I can do. I cannot imagine what it is caused from. They have only been watered, no nutrients yet except for Super Thrive. That sucks big time.

Well, on the brighter side, we have some tap roots forming on some Cosmic Nights and a few Lowryders.

Some clones would be very nice right about now. Would save so much time instead of trying to grow these seeds. This bagseed is completely useless. So I think its going to be the clones, Cosmic Nights and Lowryder. This AMS is going to be a flop. I'm not giving up just yet.

That is all.

Small update. Can't yet tell if the bottled water and epsom salt (Mg) has done anything. Time will tell.

That is all.

A few new images. Can't really tell if they are doing any better. But at least the Brown leaf above the bottom two has not dried out yet. I guess it could be a good sign.

Peace. :peace:

And that is all.

Quick update: Good news - I am not 100% positive, but I think I have the Mg deficiency under control. The leaves didn't seem to be any worse this morning than they were yesterday. I think that spraying the leaves with the epsom salt water is a great solution. As long as it doesn't spread anymore, (which it hasn't) I think I will be ok.

Bad news - I have to go to the Dentist in about half an hour and I am not looking forward to that at all. At least I got some semi-descent weed to smoke. I just wish it was a little more potent.

Images to follow later tonight.

That is all.

Crack that corn.
