can someone explain pinching? i need to slow down the growth of my 2 plants because the area is only 2 ft wide and 5 ft tall. any help would be greatly appreciated... on this thread btw
yeah i would like to know too cuz my grom room is pretty much the same size. isnt pinching just like plucking away some of the leaves so that it grows bushier in some places?

no...pinching and twisting is something i read about in the mid-80's in H.T. it's all about cracking the cambium without completely snapping the branch...this heals bigger, and causes the vascular system to grow. you can manipulate the shape of the plant(scrog)...you don't remove any foliage. they call it supercropping now. the end result is hurricane proof plants(no shit!),that laugh at pussie plants who need stakes!..and the buds are bigger.

Yep, Like that Damn Hillbilly said. Break a bone, tear muscles from lifting weights, same shit. The plant structure grows back stronger. Nature does this, it's called "Wind". Excercise Her, & she will hold up the flowers. If you want the healing process to be cut in half, maybe some regeneration herbs will kick ass. Aloe Vera Juice. Just a pinch between the root & stalk, she will be dancing.

When would you recommend topping & flowering Sativas when all the room I have is 2.8 x 2.8 x 5.3? I am using a 400W HPS. Thanks for all the help. I love Dank The Book and I hope to be growing out your strains on my next grows!

CC,after the 1st nodes when he usually does it.

After the 1st set of nodes? That seems really soon, espically from seed. I've heard after the 4th-5th node. Not sure though, thats why I ask. :peace:

In a post by Subcool on about page 2 of this thread about mid way down the following is said:

This is the time when we clean up our plants removing any smaller shoots that are shaded still so that this energy that would have gone to produce fluff and added time to trimming can instead go to the upper buds that are actually in the light. This also allows more air to circulate under the canopy so that O2 doesn’t stratify. This in it self will increase the yields and make your trimming a bit easier. I am not sure everyone will get this analogy but the plant looking up should kinds look like broccoli with everything up top.
I've really learned a lot from this thread and have found it extremely useful. Thank you so much for your contributions.

My question:
I would like to clean up my plants lower levels at this point. However, I'm 4.5 weeks into a 9 week flowering cycle. I'm concerned about causing issues for the plant or stunting the growth of my main colas up top. This will not be a problem in the future but for now I'm curious if it would help or hurt at this stage in growth.

Hey Sub,
What reflector setup would you chose to go as close as safely possible to maximize my lumen efficiency at the furthest point of my grow space. (5'x6'x8'...LxWxH) I will definitely use a 1K HPS but not sure about reflector type.

1) What is the closest a bigass air-cooled hood w/1k HPS be placed? I'm thinking this is the best way to go??? hoping < 2.5 ft
2) What is the closest an umbrella style reflector can be placed? Next best???
3) What is THEE best bulb?????????? Nextgen digital ballast to be used.

Organic all the way,
Thanks for the schooling
