hey ladies, i have been growing with cfl's as of now through veg. flower time is soon, and for that i have a 400 watt eye horilux bulb. in my cabinet the hps runs pretty warm with the hood set up, so i decided to go cooltube. they are kinda pricey so i looked into a bake around pyrex glass tube. found on ebay for 20 bucks or so. went to home depot and baught a 4x3 pvc reducer, and a 18" tie strap used in construction. i used the module and chord from my old setup. a few nuts and bolts and whazam, just waiting for my bake a round to show up tuesday. i will update the rest of the build when its done. when you gatta keep it cool, and your res temps lower, build a cooltube, super easy. thanks

i was wondering about that. i have a a/c from my central air pumping in cab. so, if days are hot.....the a/c will mostley run during the day. so i was thinking of running lights when its hot in the day because the central a/c will cool cabinet. if i run it at night when its cooler, and the a/c runs less wouldnt it be hotter? let me know what ya think.

yes it would mine does the same thing some of my highest temps in my room are from the night:( but its all good just lower the air before you go o bed by 1 or 2 and i evens it out...

now with cfl's? i will be changing to hps, when i used to run my hps the cabinet would get up to 88 sometimes. usually 85. thats too high imo. if i was going soil i wouldnt care, but i have res temps to look after. thats why i gatta try the cooltube. night temps do seem to increase cfl or hps slightly.

That is hps. It's a conv. light. I found the glass on line. it's 5.5" fits the big bulb well. Room stays around 80 at the top and 70 at the bottom. I'm still using the back up fan for the light. It's only 80 cfm, needs the 240 cfm. with that the heat from the light was about -0- in the room.
