Well, nothing that reasonably leads to me thinking all the governments and all the medics fighting covid are in cahoots to create a new fascist world order. It’s really hard to find a balance, and best to stay on the safe side. While it’s true the risk of death is far lower for youngsters, the damaging long term results to their health is not wellknown enough to simply conclude we should let young people be and lock old people up. The suggestion the youngsters would be enough to create herd immunity assumes infecting them all, and then still the youngsters are (in my country the netherlands anyway) a minority compared to all the elder folks including babyboomers so it wouldn’t be enough to reach the required 60-70%.

I also disagree schools should remain open. Considering how dumb people are, especially the younger generations, I don’t think a few months or even a year school makes a significant difference that needs to be avoided at all costs. It’s also not practical to separate society based on age.

In Japan the increase in number of suicides exceeds or atleast for a whille exceeded the number of covid deaths. In NL the majority of people in eldery homes made clear they rather risk dying from covid than not see their children and grandchildren. From a pure logical point if view, it probably would perhaps be better to let covid thin the herd by letting it kill all the weak. Definitely better for the planet. But like Sonny said to V.I.K.I, it just seems too heartless. So instead, we try to keep infections down and wait for a vaccine that very very likely has less long term damaging effects than letting 60-70% of the population gain immunity in a more natural way.

Someone might be cleaning up loose ends, pardons make people an open book, especially for federal crimes with no state laws involved. Jared and a few others might be a problem for guys like Erdogan, Putin and MBS, not to mention regular criminals who might panic over secret grand jury testimony by someone with no 5th amendment rights. A pardon could equal a target for some of these assholes, they made deals with people who are desperate and dangerous. I expect MBS will end up with his head literally chopped off in the not to distant future. He has many enemies among the prices of Saudi and the CIA has a score or two to settle, he is a loose cannon that they might prefer not to be around.
