I ran 1950 watts in an 8x12 foot shed which holds a 52 square foot canopy inside. Not sure if this helps. I assure you it was very warm. Way warmer then 3000 watts of air-cooled hps. Again maybe i should of dimmed the 600 watt QB's down to 450-500 watts a piece and i could of achieved better results in terms of heat. Im coming from an open perspective here trying to have open conversation in a dominant LED thread. Just trying to learn. I don't mind playing the bad guy here.
How hard were you driving each qb? If you run them really hard they will get pretty hot in a sealed environment. You could always add some more boards and run them softer depending on the drivers you have. Most people that have success with led report best results with temps around 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

Gotcha. IMO, I don't think its a comparable situation then since all of the heat gets dumped into the room now, whereas most was removed through the hoods before. If you had those QBs in similar hoods or weren't rocking a sealed room, I think you would see a lot lower temps because that hot air would actually be removed from the room instead of adding to the cooling needed by the A/C.

The owner guy stephen said that. I should of listened. I just got excited and decided to try the LED's and never turned around. The growth stage was phenomenal, middle to late bloom was devastating. Almost a divorce. Thats how thick my love is. One mishap in the garden and she pulls that shit.
Dude, I feel you for real! This is my first grow and I was all hyped up about using nutes and didn't listen to the og's when they told me to be careful with them and i kept overnuting them until I finally caught myself... Its not the same but it is in the reasoning that we got ahead of ourselves and was smelling our shit, if you know what I mean... We fall down, we get back up and wipe ourselves off and get back to the game, feel me? Now let's get back out there and win this one for the chronic smokers!!! Hahahahaha!!! Im on one!!!

Hey there, just wanted to drop my $0.02

I'm running 600w total over 3x6 table.
Before I upgraded my room, I ran 420w and hit 1.5g/watt.

Humboldt cookies @ 57 days under 10/14 light cycle (now 600w over 6x3 area)

Had to paste a link to daily nugg, already deleted pics from my phone...


Oh, I had a learning curve with the qbs as well, j/s

a lot of successful people using QBs seem to be driving them 50-75% tops. It also seems that anyone running above 50% is staying like 3ft above their canopy.
I am starting with 8 boards running at ~75w each in a 9x5 room (7x3ish table) and running my lights a little closer. Im going to try to mount the drivers outside of my boxes as they put off a good bit of heat too. I also made sure to match my blower cfm to my room size. The blower and filter I got is enough to circulate all the air in both of my rooms up to every minute if needed.

@a mongo frog what did your temps get up to?
Sorry but just trying to understand your setup. In a sealed room with the qbs you didn’t exhaust then right? Where as before you were able to with the hoods cause it would stay sealed ya?

listen to episode 9 and 10. You should be starting at lower wattages and increasing them as the plants/environment can handle the increases.

PUT FANS ON THE COBs AND BOARDS. cool those mofos down if you want to run them that hot. If you crank them at full bore you need to ensure your system does not get too hot otherwise there goes efficiency. (LEDs burn out faster, more power is turned into heat instead of light, drivers work harder therefore decreasing their expected life)

Don't give up, until you can mimic the environment you had running HPS on an LED system. Can you really say you gave it a fair shot? Your results from this run cannot be compared to your previous setup due to varying parameters.

Just cut my blueberry tonight, it was in my greenhouse from 4-12 to 4-26 then went into 12/12 under the quantums and my 2 cob fixtures, total of 650 watts all dimed to minimum. Looks like my best run so far, total of 10 weeks in flower.
