urine for your nitrogen source

I have been reading article after article about using your urine as a nitrogen source. It not only is a good nitrogen source but also is high in your phos.
You are suppose to dilute it 10/1 ratio.
Anyone in organic growing try this with your grow????
I tested it out on house plants and a week later ...well...wow.
Any thoughts?????

There are much better ways of getting nitrogen into your plant with added benefit other than just P.

Compost
Alfalfa
Neem
Crustacean meal
Blood meal
Bone meal

The whole point is that its more eco friendly. And no I dont think its better...nitrogen is nitrogen. This way tho (other then making your own compost piles) its all natural

The only thing you need to be worried about is salt content. If you eat a Mediterranean diet like me then you are ok. But if you eat fast food and other restaurants I would watch it.

Urine is a great fertilizer. Don't let people tell you otherwise. And it's free!

I do not eat a high sodium diet. I know the articles said not to use urine if you are on medications as well. Since im growing in 100% composted manure this year I was thinking about using it to fertalize for the n/p boost it needs in veg!

Yes, Better as in added benefits that YOU don't have such as alfalfa containing tricantonol for instance, a growth hormone.. Or the chitin that comes along with crab meal. Or all the trace minerals sulfur and phosphorus that comes from Neem. All are heavy N sources... Their not better because I think using pee is yucky, I'm a grown up and I know it's strictly clinical, shit, people use nastier stuff than urine. Most all commercial soils contain 'sewer sludge'

Be careful with sodium levels in urine as well.. Really high

All my sources are eco friendly, I just pulled a big ass batch of alfalfa cover crop off my beds a month ago and that'll go into my garden. Every other source is Eco friendly except the bone and blood meals which I don't advise. Was just listing

OkAy...I get that most people think its gross. That is not the point of this thread. Is there not shit in most organic mixed soils? Yet u put your hands in it. Urine is super high in phosphorus. And maybe you should read an article about it so that an intelligent argument is made. The whole point is for using it as an nitro boost assuming that everything else is provided in your organic soil.

it's full of salt and nasty phosphates/nitrates your body gets rid of over time. Alfalfa is a MUCH cleaner richer source of nitrogen with TEN times the benefit of piss. It's cheap too. Around 1.40 a pound where I live.. Full of growth hormones, phytogens, secondary metabolites etc...

Wow...im not trying to get into an argument with you. Read an article on it. If you dont want to use it then dont.

I've read plenty of articles and is the basis of why I use what I use. Piss doesn't compare to the added benefits of alfalfa. You need to go read an article or two..

I'm talking about more than nitrogen and phosphorus though, something you can't seem to wrap your head around..

Wow...ok...I am an organic grower. My soil contains everything it needs. Im simply talking about a cheap nitrogen boost ( keeping in mind I already have all the goodies in my soil) understand now? I knew what ur point was.

I've been growing this way for years and wouldn't advise anyone to put piss in their soil when alfalfa is 1$ a pound lmao

You really should go read an article... I know of all the millions on google that RAVE about using piss as a fertilizer but their are much better ways of getting nitrate with much more benefit, that's all I was saying..

This is a forum, you're going to get shared experience and varied opinion and in this case, you're acting like a child telling me I need I go read an article to hold a conversation with you.. You probably don't even know what a phytogen is or what it does

This was not suppose to be a debate. I can use what I want. Guess the proof will be in the pudding at harvest. I was not asking people if I should use it...I was asking if anyone has.

I'll regress..
I've used piss, never will again.. There is much better sources of nitrogen with many more added benefits than the human body can give the soil and plant.

Another being stinging nettle for instance

I can find and pick these out of the ground for free, they have plenty of nitrogen along with calcium, magnesium, iron, boron, and b vitamins rich in fatty acids and androgens and they're very Eco friendly.

Did I mention, THEYRE FREE?

I used it for years on my vegetable gardens, I'd dilute it to about one whiz per gallon and water the plants with it once or twice a week... best nitrogen fertilizer I ever found, seems like the plants uptake it better and I noticed I had far, far fewer pest problems in my gardens when I was using the urine fertilizer than when I'm not. I might go back to it this year.

Right on! Do you think it would keep animals away as well? I always hear old timers say to piss by your plants to keep deer out. Thanks for the info! You rock!
