Aren't you growing in rockwool cubes or slabs? While a slightly lower res temp does hold more DO in it, which is a desirable trait, the thing that will most affect the temperature absorbtion rate is the overall temperature of your grow room. Rockwool holds a lot of water, and after even just 15-20 minutes, the ambient temperature of the air will raise the temperature of your growing medium anyway. You would have to flood your tables/trays, extremely frequently in order to keep the entire medium at 65* for any length of time. If you do that though, then you risk overwatering your plants, which will give you a host of other problems. IMO, the cost of the chiller, and the cost of running it, don't measure out in results unless you're doing aeroponics, or nft style setups.
Yes. I have a flood and drain system (the ebb & gro) with 4x4x4" rockwool cubes that are transplanted into 2 gal buckets with hydroton. Thank you for the clarification.

Yes or no?

Does anyone know what it actually is? Is it the same as clearex?

Before I got chillers, I would use three to four frozen 2 liter bottles each day for a 55 gal res.Never drops below 65 that way. Works well, but kind of a pain to lug them around.
I have a 55 gal res...not worried about temps now, but will be in the summer. I can't believe you would use 36 to 48 2l bottles a day...that is way too much work.
I use an r/o with a float valve. It takes abouut 24 hours to fill the res..so the idea of re-filling the tank with cool water doesn't seem practical..
Doesn't a chiller have a thermastat?

This pic is before I installed the float..now the blue hose goes in the side of the res.

Very sick thread, thanks purrrrple.

I have the House and Garden Aqua A/B, Bud XL, Top Booster, Multizyme, Drip Clean

Looking to add the magic green, root excel, root stimulator, and the top shooter gel(the top shooter gel replaces the shooting powder?), i used the shooting powder last time, took me awhile to figure out how to mix it for just a few gallons i might have messed it up

Cant wait to start my new grow trying to get all the kinks out of the room before i start...... last grow i rushed, had plants before i had a place for them. The plants did have some problems but everything looked great towards the end but the last week or two the plants turned for the worst not really sure what happened, allot of my nugs/colas turned like a sawdust color ... all i can think of is way to much nutes ( i will get to that) or the temps just got to them since they were so close to the light, oh well live and learn

PPM/EC
I did fallow the ec on the H&G chart for a little while, but then readding and checking out other threads i noticed my plants looked behind compared to others. They were older plants but smaller and with no trichs on them, compared to the others i was watching that were younger plants but more developed, looked better, long story short i stop-ed going by the chart and just increased the ec/ppm every time i changed the res once a week. I went up to 1600 ppms i think around the end before flush. Reading the H&G chart it says only let your ec get up to 2.0 thats around 1000 ppms right ? Does not sound right to me. anyone? I will be going by the chart this next grow.

i would like to try that top booster. i wonder when/if it will be available in the US ?
I use it and it is great. It adds green to the leaves when nitrogen is not recommended. It is available in the US. You only use it the week before you use shooting powder

i meant to say this: top shooter gel ...
(i aready use the pk 13/14
)

Yea been wondering the same thing, from what i read they made the gel for people with small res tanks. You dont have to worry about how many grams of the powder to use or to make a concentrate out of it, just need a little Gel and your set. I still want to go back and look into it but i believe awhile ago when i was looking it up i figured out its more $$$ to use the gel then to use the powder and just weight out what you need in the long run but still have do the math on that again.

and i have seen it at my local hydro store in Cali so its around.

I have been using H.G. my last couple of runs
1st was aqua a&b with all the fix'n (root excl/muti zyme magic green//bud-xl & drip clean...
I have the peps at sd.hydro tell me this is the shit also have had growers pull me aside and said how much they like H.G. Yes ist $$$ but anything for my girls there worth every penny..
I'm now starting my first coco run using coco a&b and all the fixn. i have no worries about nutts and trust H.G. taking care of my girls and growing into little monsters..

from my 1st time using h.g. my ph was on the $$$ no more adding up & down or spiking ph...and ph levels stayed for the most part for around 3 weeks(always changed water after 3 weeks flood and drain.)
now using coco a&b ph was right on the $$ again!!!
i have used drip clean from day one ( if you use after first setup all salt anywhere in lines plants res release and will f- everything up.no recovery for salt at that point.
Im going to try Magic Green for the first time anybody using M.G. what do you think about it?
the best thing about H.G. is a can go on vacation and know i have a good baby sitter while I'm gone i have taking a couple of weeks vaca when i got home it was like i never left...
H.G. ROCKS!!!

well i have two 55 gallon tanks so i guess i'll stick to the powder if its all the same stuff. thanks for the info though...
i was looking at the uk site and they have a few other cool products that i have not seen in the US, they even make a product for cleaning your room and trays ect... and they say it helps with mold and mites. :eyesmoke:
