Mr I Can Do That For Half
What kind of actual diameter do you think the omega is.Im thinking I will have at least a n 8 foot by 8 goot by 10 foot high room for it to use and thinking sticking 2 600 watt bulbs in the cool tube

the look huge and more suited to warehouses, i like the look of the stack with 4 gardens running on it. Your going to need 3 foot per plant so thats 6 foot of height plus gap to the light a foot a side so that 6 foot plus the actually machine you probably be looking at 10 foot for 3 foot plants

filthy, i remember the old omega had a wheel type thing on the motor that spun and was against the big wheel spinning it, i think the new ones are gears. maybe somewhere say the middle there can be ball bearings or something or maybe rollers under the wheel to make it easy to spin... if you can forfeit an end being open it could be a solid wheel basically and you could do more maybe...

greenthumb.. i was thinking of making the DIY omega 5' because unlike the octagon the plants grow directly towards the light, heat and also reducing square foot surface area. if the system uses detachable channels there could be mounting points at 4' and 5' and the plants could actually be moved if somehow the watering height could be changed?

i wouldnt want to grow 3 foot plants in an omega... which i remember it being about 4' in diameter.. but strength lies in smaller plants and higher numbers... only a few days veg..

nice directions! where can i buy that cool tube? and lights w/out reflectors? if i did a 4' model do you think that2 400 or 2 600 watt bulbs would work??

400's or 600's would work just fine just scaled down a little!

the cool tube i got at one of the hydro stores here for $200... no reflectors makes way more efficient light use...

ok so i took a few pix of whats going on right now... not much.. but hey...

lets start with the old grow... does anyone know how to easily add pictures? last time it added them as attachments and i had to put an image link with the http address which was annoying to have to go back and edit... anyways i have one picture of a joe... these did pretty good... average of about 14grams... i think 18-19 was the highest... these were the ones vegged about 3 days... of course the og's didnt yield very well... also there was tons of light wasting and about 20 empty spots... 14g a plant would be about 3lbs... my total yield was just under a pound... i also had fungus gnat problems from the mad watering which i killed off with caterpillar killer bacteria but did harvest a few plants early from root death/rot whatever...

the plants did seem to grow faster, and i harvested about a week earlier than i projected...

so made some adjustments into the next grow...

first, the open side was replaced with 3 levels and one open for access... just cut off the T and glued on 4" endcaps and another 45degree angle and another 2 foot or so piece of drainpipe... much better and added 9 plants... total of 89 now...
then converted from drip to ebb and flow... because some drippers clogged (which was from algae from clear reservoir which has been changed, and molasses probably)..
had to change the pump to a smaller 100w instead of the 400w which was WAY! too powerful but did pretty much do the last grow as fat aeroponics from the mass water movement...
vegged this time in 2x4 under 400w with just ebb/flow but always on so the 3" netcups just chilled in the water... and plan to veg in the octa for a bit and fill the area more... last time lots of open spaces...

the res and plumbing has been redone a few times because of the other pump and then i added 1/2" valves to control flow to each level... the ebb/flow fitting on the other side is on the lowest height and the water builds up to about half the tube... so far so good... on 15mins/off 15mins...

i had to build a little mini-stand for the ends they were hanging down from the weight of the water.... so far so good!!

wow! thanks for such a quick response! i know you are a busy man so i do appreciate it, it looks awesome, 89 plants in the corner of your room hard to tell but maybe 5ft x 5ft x ceiling height?? the ebb & flow looks much cleaner and im sure you will be much happier with it. sounds like everything is dialing in nicely. which strains are you running this time?

yea its in a 5x5 area, normal 8' ceilings...

the problem so far is that the netcups dont go far enough down into the hole to reach the water which is only a couple inches deep... i should have just filled the tubes with medium and then transplanted them directly into it, only now they are in netcups and ill usually have to veg separately anyways...

if i had drippers right now it could get the roots into the water (like starting dwc) and have it go nft style.. i have envisioned rockwool blocks and instead of round tubes, square gutters...
sux because they had such nice roots, and now are dead clumps...
..always something..
hmm i just looked at my great white beer bottle and it says 04 20 stamped across the front of the label...

the strains this time are indiana bubblegum, sour diesel, some of fade's hijack, grape apes, trainwreck, granddaddy purple, dankleberry think thats it wait warlock is in there too.

i think i might take some of these and put them into a multiflow system, probably 10 plants under (2) 600w, and just buy 90 clones for this thing... i want to build another vertical system as soon as this one is done too.. i am in the middle of redoing my entire room. 5200watts total...

if only rockwools weren't bad for the environment (and reusable)

lagunitas used to have a beer called 420 ale. but they got censord cause abc caught on what the 420 stood for every friday at the pub for some of the locals. now it is censord ale by lagunitas. lost cost has indica pale ale... really good. i am def going to have to make my way up there and maybe you and fdd can take me to couple good beer spots! the 420 on your beer prolly has to do with the bottle date or batch and lot number, wither way they thought they needed to make a lil special, i would save tht bottle if is the only one, but that is just me and based on my pics i need to throw some bottles in the rec! lol

looking at the nug in your pipe my mouth waterd of mothers finest, god i love that weed. is that hash on your keyboard? what type of nuggy were you going to indulge in?

when you say square gutters and rockwool i think of dutch trays. i am going to set up a dutch tray ebb and flow this up comming weekends, at rite aid and other stores alike, they have window seal potting deals. cheap and will work nice, no drain holes are prev drilled. im hoping this "idea" will pan out without too many headaches. Yardiac.com - Poly-Pro Flower Box i was gonna use something like these. he wants to harvest every 2 weeks so a few of these under his 600 should do nice.

if you get this octagon down will you continue to setup rooms the same way? im assuming the 5200watt room is not a room with a bunch of octagons in it? although......

buying clones.... eeek. i have too many i will give you some!!!! come down to the 831! i heard sensi star used to be popular up there, you should bring it back. next year i will have mr nice x sensi star, FDD will def get some of those seeds.

what about a bubble cloner? your a DIY guy, you can do it. im doing rapid rooter right now cause someone swore it was just as fast as the bubbler, yeah right. still too long. im impatient. let me know if you need help k? ;)

lagunitas rules... they also have an Undercover Shutdown Ale... this is from last year when undercovers from SoCal decided to try to set them up for their 4:20 beer parties on thursdays... but after weeks nobody would sell them weed but were more than happy to smoke them out... so they shut down the brewery for a week due to 'no permit to smoke marijuana'.. lagunitas is awesome.. we will of course take you to ALL the spots..
the stamp on the great white im sure is the batch date, just like any other black stamp in the industry... i think i already recycled it but i just happened to see it when i was sitting there. the nug is OG Kush and its a rock on the keyboard.

i am not going to take the octagon down itself just the plants, the room im headed towards will have 2 octagons with 4k and 2-600w on a light rail over multiflow buckets..

the planter idea should work great... i still might use gutters and 45degree angles to make an octagonal nft type system.. i'd like to just fill it up and veg in it but i have to veg in the other room...

i want to make a bubble cloner... right now i have a easy-aeroponic cloner i built about 4 years ago.. holds 80 plants works pretty good in fact there are about 20 in it right now with roots ready to go! i had troubles the last few times with rapid rooters, used to have 100% success, don't know but the aero cloner does great roots in a week usually.

would those pipes you got your plants in turn 20 deg into the lights, it would just remove the height restriction a bit

that's a great setup. i thought of a similar setup before and i'm glad to see someone went thru with it. i'll be watching this thread for any info you can give. i'm an organic soil man, but if i did hydro, this is the route i'd go.

thanks for all your time on info.
