Medical Marijuana (MOD)
hey, I dont know if this is talked about much on this board, I did a quick search and the only thread I could find was more than 2 years old.

anyways I'm just wondering what you guys do in the way of security and surveillance. I'm mostly interested in what you do for when you are not home or near your grow, or even on vacation. :joint:

I was thinking of picking up a system like this
http://www.amazon.com/VideoSecu-Security-Internet-including-Extension/dp/B00120FXIQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1293612773&sr=8-2

I havent done much research at all, does anyone here use somthing like this? suggestions or better options?

thx

heres my setup

My grow is completely legal in my state and very relaxed in my county (Sonoma, CA). I actually had my plants stolen from me and called the police as soon as I came home and found out. They came and checked everything out and told me they don't have any problems with what I was doing, but this is a common problem with growing pot. He recommended getting better security on the home if I plan on continuing my operations. So I spent the money to have ADT come in and install alarms on every window and door and 4 infrared HD surveillance cameras with a DVR box (records 18 days then loops back). Now, I've come to find out that a local insurance company offers pot growers insurance in my state. The insurer in Statewide. One of their requirements is that the crop be under surveillance with a monitored alarm system. Bottom line is that marijuana is becoming more legitimate and as long as you stay within your allowances.

Not telling anybody what you're up to is the first step. If your grow is concealed and away from passers-by then you should be good. Mounting cameras, getting a dog and making sure your place is secure is your best bet after that. Owning a gun is an option, but not for everyone.

In the 80's I knew a guy who kept caimen's (like an alligator) and beehives for security. Had those insect repelling sonic horns that were hooked up to his alarm system. Alarm go's off, insta swarm.

He is an interesting guy.

where I come from, a person without a gun is called a victim
Where you come from. Shoot, where I come from it's better called a law to own a fire arm. But unfortunately these days you have too many stupid people and folks that don't know the stock of a shot gun from their anus wanting to own a gun. That said, I feel like an idiot openly saying "Yeeeaaa git em, go git yerself a rifle boy"..I am a proud member of the NRA and feel like everyone should own a gun for their own protection, but sadly not everyone has the [mental] capacity to understand what it means to own one.

I didn't read the whole thread, but What I use is a Digital Video Recorder CCTV system( http://www.a1securitycameras.com/Samsung-360-SVR-1660.html ) with 16 channels of cameras. Cameras on all 4 corners of the exterior, hidden under the soffit. Cameras in the main rooms and one wireless camera that is at the end of the driveway. The DVR has dual 1 terabyte hard drives and can record at 30 FPS 24 hours a day for 30 days straight. All the video can be accessed either from the front screen, remote control, or by internet. I can pull out my lap top in AUstralia and see whats going on around my house thousands of miles away in real time.

Also have an Ademco Vista-30 Burglar alarm system ( http://www.security.honeywell.com/hsc/products/control/bu/ad/14961.html )with magnetic contacts on all the doors, motion sensors in key areas, temperature sensors in the furnace room, Smoke Detectors up and down,Glassbreak sensors by every window, dual 136dB horns and blue strobe lights on each floor. Remote control Wireless card entry that activates 1800 pound electro magnets to my grow area and allows the door to shut automatically anytime the alarm is activated. The alarm doesn't call an alarm response company, it texts me a message and alerts me to which device was tripped. it then allows me control of the alarm system over the phone and also allows me to listen and speak over the touchscreen keypads with built in speaker/microphones that are installed in the home. I have the alarm connected to some of the interior and exterior lights and can setup a program schedule to turn them on and off to give the home a lived in look. I also have "Protected by ADT" signs in my yard that I had made from a Vinyl graphics shop in town.

One Tibetan Lhasa Apso, the original temple watch dog, can hear people coming from a block away. They are cute too.

You should dump the ADT signs and get one of these--

Or just the standard Protected by Smith and Wesson.

This guy
might have one for your Lhasa, but I don't know if you really want to advertise that :)

Newton didn't have to know about those or anything yet invented when he came up with universal laws of motion, the key here being 'universal.'
Certainly recoil can be redirected but the amount of force that would knock a grown man 3 feet backward is still going to have a major effect on the shooter, even if a small amount of that force can be directed into loading another shell. Stop getting your physics from Hollywood.
HAhaha....I get my physics from books and my experience with guns first hand. You however are clueless.
