i have a gsm auto dail alarm which rings me via sim card and lets me know alarm is tripped, i can then listen in through a built in mic while i get online and check out my camera i have linked to a router. if all is well i can set the alarm again, if not i have a 6 min car journey for some damage limitation whilst warming up my uk guns, right and left.

cost me about £150 ....

buy a hydroponic sms alarm. it will send an instant sms text message to any mobile cellphone you add in to it if any of the following are activated :

motion detector
door open
window open
smoke detector and water detector.

the sms text message will even tell you which one has been activated.

with cctv movies it only cost a couple of bucks for a face scarf and a hoodie top.
with sms it may cost the burglar his life, if you know what i mean.
you can be there with a shotgun without him knowing in minutes.

here is a link but you can get them cheaper at grotec or you can shop around.

i must stress, they are useless against the police !!!!

you can also set up 24hr recordable on-line webcams, even if the burglar smashes the laptop or pc that is running it, the movie has already been recorded and stored on an on-line server.

you are asking for trouble if you are running around the uk with a gun pal.

the uk is not the usa with lax gun laws, if the cops see you with a gun in the states they will shoulder arms and tell you to halt and start asking questions.
in the uk the armed response unit will blow your fucking head in half and ask you later why you have a gun. (in the morgue)
never carry a gun in the uk, especially in scotland they will shoot you on the fucking spot just for wielding an air rifle at them.

i got the alarm mainly for the smoke alarm (to go with my flame defender) but also it will enable me to get there before the cops and fire brigade, and perish the thought burglars, i will have the advantage over the intruders as they wont expect me so quick and i will have to stop growing operations asap so the intruders will pay with pain

you don`t need flame detectors if you are a professional grow room builder.

use steel box and safety glass lamp units, the profesional downlight ones for warehouses are heavy but best.

fit a new consumer unit with rcbo leak detectors, they are mcb`s and rcd`s in the one unit this prevents equipment malfunction, (mcb, mini circuit breaker). and prevents against electric shock ( rcd, residual current device ) with a 1.7 ms cut in power and prevents death.

the only place you can have a fire are your lamps.

the jack plug fittings on ballasts are known for electric arcing causing heat.

and the lamps themselvs can heat up and melt wiring etc..

i had a fire about 5 months ago and it was concealed in the steel warehouse lamp unit.

the connection at the bottom of the bulb in the center was totally melted and the light unit wiring inside the unit went on fire.

when i got there next day the lamp was off.

i replaced the wire replaced the bulb holder and it went on fire again, so i threw out the ballast and replaced it, and it is without faults now.

it is better to prevent fire than to be ready to tackle it.

you can also buy self extinguishing fire proof cable. expensive but fire is out of the question.
if you live in the uk all green and yellow earth wire sleeving is self extinguishing.

you will probably have more chance of your laptop going on fire than your grow room/house.

you dont need safety equipment in large grow houses, you just need smoke alarms and powder extinguishers as all of these types of grow houses have 24 hr maintenance and security anyway.
and you can use any type of cheap equipment you want.

but if your small grow room is unoccopied for 9 hours daily then you need to buy safety equipment, this is where people go wrong when they see huge grow rooms on u tube with basic equipment which can catch fire but forget that these areas are monitored around the clock.

remember that if you have a fan sucking air through a hot lamp and the lamp ignites with a fault your grow room will burn to the ground in minutes as fire and air mixed like that will turn in to a furnace in seconds.

In the 80's I knew a guy who kept caimen's (like an alligator) and beehives for security. Had those insect repelling sonic horns that were hooked up to his alarm system. Alarm go's off, insta swarm.

He is an interesting guy.
the old fashioned way would be to arm your self with a powder fire extinguisher, bees hate these it gets on their bodies and wings and they drop like a stone, it gets in to the eyes of everything in its path, not much a blind aligator can do to you, then you can proceed to cave its head in with the empty extinguisher bottle..

the modern way is just use a pepper spray.
never use animals for security. animals are vulnerable against a human with a weapon.

reminds me of that joke :

a rich baseball player parked his car outside the stadium and as he was walking away, two kids shouted " hey Alex, give us a dollar each and we will watch your car for you".

alex pointed at the bentley and shouted "no matter boys look in the back", and in the back of the car was a huge rottweiler,
the boys shouted at alex,
"hey alex, can your rottweiler put a fire out".

im no grow room building expert though !

sounds like you dont prevent fire but rather contain it in a box ,not sure how practical that is.
