New Old Strains

Afgan Black and True Ti stick for me. As a young fella they both bent me in half. Oh, and fond memories of having some of the first pure Indica to hit the state. So fine.

High SR,

These strains as you say would bend you in half, as would pure colombian, Gold, Black, Red Points and Red's..

Which kinda answers this.

Oh, to have those classic strains and introduce some first rate medical genes into them. Let's be honest.. In the past the THC content was lower. Years and years of breeding, both bad and good, have increased the "base" THC level in all strains.
Whilst it is very, very easy to select plants based on the resin output, this is only part of the story. The high you recieve from the flowers is derived from a complex mix of Cannabinoids and terpenes that all contribute to the quality of high you experience.

The older imports are still legends today, and for sure these pure Colombians provide a incredible quality of high you will not find in a modern hybrid. The serious medical breeders are going back to these pure lines in search of all the things that are missing today.

So yes, although you can increase the base content by selection of high resin producing plants, you are not by definition improving their effects or actual potencies as quantity of THC is only part of the story. A very small part.

Here is what a very experienced NoCal grower said about our Colombian Haze ''These are xxxxxxxx xxxxxxx lines Outlaw, they list those at the xxxxxxxxxx. I would say for quality of high, these buds were the best for a introspective, psychedelic experience with various stages of euphoria followed by transcending dimensional wormhole. To state mildly some Great Ass Weed!! Everyone needs to grow this as they are missing out.''

Not a modern high THC line, a classic umolested Colombian 'mota' x Haze from before it went to Amsterdam.

There is a lot missing. For me, high THC means nothing without the deep, divine Wormhole!!

Peace! HHF

Haze & Blueberry still as popular as ever, bred in the late 70's (I grew a cross of the two called Blaze, it's great !)
there's another one...you and I think a lot alike. I have blue dream now, but I've always had the idea that blaze or blue thai would be fantastic weed. blueberry gets way too little attention compared to the purples. I'd really like to see subcool come out with a super jack's blueberry like he was working on before j.c.2, only with lots of phenos!- varying degrees of lemon to blueberry:weed: j.c.2 (mrs. clean) is already the lemoniest thing ever; that and a really heavy blueberry...oh, yeah!!!

I'm going back to the oldschool in order to mess with the cannabinoid levels, and get some super low cbd ultra cosmic tripweed...I am not neglecting the modern stuff though! this is the way forward- operation stargate- malawi, macVsog, kali mist, vortex, cinderella 99, spacebomb(tinybomb male). these are my main ingredients...we'll see what kind of crazy 3 ways we can concoct; and then mix with some fireWHITE o.g., and shark attack.

Blue Hawaiian x God Bud Mostly Sativa. in the future I want to check out the godbud. this strain looks like an absolute killer though.
I'll bet it is, Jordan is the creator of Godbud so you know you'll be getting the "real deal"
I have Reeferman's G13 (airborne) X Godbud but I haven't grown it out yet, I substituted Mazar I Shariff in my last grow at the last moment as it was supposedly a good sleep medicine weed so it remains untested.

My favorite Old strain is Colombian Gold, Panama Red, Acapulco Gold, and Maui of course. Loved the 60s and 70s back when you could buy a lid (Ounce) or a four finger bag of Colombian Gold for $25......I smoked my first joint over Led Zeppelin in 1968 most of you weren't even born...... You think ak47 is a old strain?

You and I must be at least somewhat close to the same age. I first got high in 1968 and I lived on landrace sativa strains like Dalat, Colombian Gold, Acapulco Gold, Panama Red, Malawi Gold, Oaxaca Gold and others. Depending on the strain and current availability at the time $25.00 to $35.00 would get you a lid, a baggie that in my area was so full you could hardly fold the flap over enough to close it.

I really have to chuckle when I read messages that say things like I can remember way back in the day .. and they are talking about 2000 or 1993 or even 1985. Puppies … they are all puppies.

They have no idea how lucky they have been and how good they had it in some ways. When I was a kid I had to walk barefoot five mile to school and five miles back from school everyday in the snow and it was uphill in both directions …. and I had to sift the seeds from my weed as I walked before I could roll a doobie … but what was in that doobie would make the puppies of today cry for their mommies because it was so potent.

I had to laugh when you asked if someone thought that AK47 is an old strain. I have socks and ties that are older than AK47.

Yes sir a lid of good street weed was $10 and the baggies was so full you had to lick the top to get it to stick. Weed with a name like Panama Red $25 and No zippers on baggies when I grew up. Had a dime in my shoe in case I needed to make a phone call from the old phone booth. Movies were $.35, hamburgers were $. 25 and coke came in a glass bottle for $.15 with a nickle refund. Real candy for pennies. My first car was made of steel and you could sit on the hood without it caving in. Good ole days back when everything was made in America and jobs were plenty. Nothing was opened on a Sunday, I mean nothing not one store was opened. It was the day of rest and America was one nation under God. Boy have we really progressed....

I've been of the earth for 3 decades,
I know some of you on here have forgotten more than I know :) But I know a lot of people from all walks of life and age groups and I've met a few hippie growers in L.A. when I was younger, they introduced me to Chocolate Thai and what they called the original Haze... man these 2 strains we're amazing! and very potent! mind you this was in the 90s when Cronic was all everyone in L.A. smoked. By the way for those that didn't grow up in Los Angeles The Cronic was being smoked all around the city waaaaaay before Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg started making songs and albums about it.
I love my hybrids but I'll always hold the old school strains in high reguard :weed:

you had to walk 5 miles there and back... that why u didnt graduate?

im not old, havent smoked weed from the 70s or strains from back then... but seriously.. get off your high horse, you cant compare shit in the 60s 70s to shit we got now. dont even try.

not to mention how much we've learned about growing it, and how to improve it... weed is only going to get more and more potent

Dalat, Acapulco Gold, Colombian Gold, Panama Red, Malawi Gold .. but most if not all of those were popular and then vanished well before most members of this site and other similar sites were nothing more than the gleam in the eye of two strangers at a Motley Crew concert.
LMAO you must be as old as I am

Panama Red in 1976, was the best high I ever experienced!

great thread - I just got started reading it, but I know seedsman has Colombian gold crossed hybrid. It's probably as close to the original you'll find, except better - because it's hybridized!

Today's high THC strains pretty much compare with the hash oil of the 70's, but potency isn't everything, or folks would only smoke concentrates right?

And A lot of the newer hybrid strains come with high anxiety/paranoia straits attached.

New isn't always better
