Thank you guys so much! yes it is so hard, her scripts from doctor are free, but dont work. the cannabis works but is expensive. just breaks my heart. weed over groceries. not right. That is why I am growing, or trying to!!!

I have had a fan on her since day one :-) the transplant and adding the LED seems to have gone ok, i see growth, and she looks wonderful. only thing is heat is going up to 80 with the cfl's and led. I have a fan pulling in passive intake air, and a hole up top to let hot air out. still not gona turn on the fan and filter just yet, its to loud! LOL

here is growth since yesterday, I think she will be fine, phew!!!

BTW, whats a bean?
A bean is just a slang term for a seed.

You're doing good work to take care of your daughter.

There is a saying, a watt is a watt is watt. That is the measure of energy. Amps and volts can change, even inversely proportionally. V x A = W. There are about 3.4 BTU's per watt. A 40 watt light makes 40 watts of heat regardless of the type of lamp (though ballasts on some lights will be part of that heat). That is why the lamps are rated by wattage relative to fire risk. The "Comparable" is the visible light equivalent, this has to do with your eyes and not heat. Don't get me started on comparing paper towel roll sizes (6=8, 8=12, etc.) :)

Did you know that only about 10% of the power in the fuel at the power plant makes it onto your plants? 50% is lost in combustion, another 70% of that is lost in transmission (or more), 10%+ is lost in the light fixture and 10-25% of the light does not even hit the plants. Can't wait until the outdoor growing season. That is how you get your affordable meds.
Sorry, but this is nonesense. First of all, a 60 w cfl draws about 13 watts at the wall. It's a marketing trick.

Secondly, put your hand on a 60 watt incandescent and then on a cfl. Otherwise anywhere near the same.

A watt is a measure of energy. That can create heat, light, or do work like run a motor. It is not convertible directly to heat. A microwave oven is a good example. Lots of energy but no heat unless there is water in its path.

I think you get it and we simply have a communication disconnect. A 13 watt CFL is a 13 watt light and that is about what it draws off the wall and in the end the amount of heat that will come off the system Yes. It is not a 60w light, though folks call it an equiv. I would not call it a 60 watt light. Agreed the 60 watts is a marketing thing to help folks try and think about viable light compared to the Edison bulbs. 60w has nothing to do with the power. The 40 watt light I was talking about is a 40 watt CFL, not a 40 watt equiv, it would likely be called a 160 watt equiv, but neither of us care about that 160 number because it is not the power used or heat generated. Are we on the same page?

Many years of energy analysis for many applications here, sold lots and lots of lights (unfortunately), rated energy start homes, consulted, touched lots of CFLs, my off grid home is using 323 watts right now....now its 343. I get where you are coming from and think in watts, volts, amps and BTUS constantly in our lifestyle. I was just sharing, sorry I forgot that people still look at the equivalent rating, I thought that was a thing of the past and people thought in CFL, we obviously do, all our lights are CFL except in the fridge and oven.

Peace.

You also know that eventually all the watts that go into the microwave turn into heat (majority), sound or are otherwise stored somewhere. It leaks out the holes, builds up temporary in the coils and system and eventually it will blow up if you keep running it empty, warnings right in the manuals that no one reads.

From another person:

"The power going into an empty microwave will accumulate as an EM field inside the cavity up to the point where the input power equals the rate of leakage. Energy inside the cavity will leak out through the little holes in the metal screen in the door, through ohmic losses in the sided of the microwave, feedback into the power source, etc. The rate of power leakage from the cavity is given by ..... For an resonant frequency of around 2.5 GHz, input power of 1kW, Q of say 100 (guess), the accumulated energy is only about a milli-joule. Of course, the materials making up the microwave probably aren't designed to dissipate 1kW of power over an extended time, so eventually the microwave may explode or something due to overheating of components."

The motor you speak of works the same way, all of the energy will be converted to heat, sound, static, kinetic energy or potential energy (by lifting something and leaving it) - you can convert those HPs to BTUs to Watts. This is all conservation of energy, as I am sure you know and would suggest, the energy cannot disappear, but can be stored or not be visible.

Up to 85 deg. should be fine- 80 is in the sweet spot. Hows humidity? It will amaze you how quick they grow from babies; mine had 4 nodes within 3 weeks.
They do grow like weeds don't they? no pun intended!
Humidity was around 20 when I started, so i found a great site on youtube that shows you how to raise humidity in your tent by using a bowl of water, a coat hanger as a stand, and a towel. worked like a charm. humidity around 50. Just kind of in "auto mode" right now, coming down off the rush of all the stuff to do when I started. So, being me, I started germing another seed. Yeah, I like the drama. :-)

I'm almost finished setting up my seedling / clone / early-mid veg tent (say that 10 times quickly).
I was planning on doing a first round of Auto Blackberry Kush, but I would be willing to start with the HSO Blue Dream and get you some clones if it will help. I wasn't sure I wanted to make those my first grow, but I think I've done enough research that I shouldn't screw it up too badly.
I'm going to grow in Coast of Main Stonington Blend http://coastofmaine.com/product/stonington/ - you should check it out ... $29.99 / 1.5 cu ft and really nice stuff. I'm planning to only put 4 plants in the 4x4 flower tent under my COB fixture in 7 gal air pots and see what happens ... hopefully something good.
I'm going to start the seeds in Happy Frog, go to 1 gal air pots with a 50/50 blend of HF and SB, then to 3 gal for the balance of veg and 7 just before I switch to flower.
I'll be watering with ph'd RO water with a touch of kelp extract and later on adding some worm castings tea.
Still undecided and manifolding or scrogging but I'm open to suggestions.
I think I have enough light to get close to 24" penetration through a dense canopy
107K lumens / 1381 PPF / 18.5 PAr watts per sq ft.
I'm only going to ventilate the top of the tent so I'll use some passive CO2 bags to keep the plants happy.
From what I've read, 4 blue dream in a 4x4 configured this way should be both happy and productive if I don't do something stupid (like waiting 'till I'm 70 to start growing ).
If anyone sees a problem, please speak up sooner rather than later. Suggestions are welcome too.
Thanks

Ok so kinda freaking out like a noobz typically does when he sees something out of the ordinary.
If someone can tell me what the fuck is up with that ball where near the pistols are. Idk if that's a stress point or stunted growth and makes it start to ball up. Idk please suggestions and thoughts greatly appreciated if it's a tranny ( Caitlyn Jenner) idk what the fuck to do. Lol. I don't want her fucking with my other ladies if it's a problem is all.

Sheesh bro !! My mind is completely blown right now I want a set of those and I'm not even halfway thru the thread!! How awesome are they really ??
Yeah, the obsolescence curve in this hobby is pretty steep. Most of the guys on this board must be independently wealthy or selling their products because you can easily spend more on equipment than what you would pay for good smokes at retail.

$1500 for a light?

I'm not saying it's not worth it if this is a commercial operation, but it's a tall price tag if you are a hobbyist.

I'm not trying to run with the big dogs. I'm happy chewing a bone on the porch on a nice day. ;)

Not at all it depends on your application I was thinking of using it in my 2x4 tent and use it for scrog grows I've done them in the past would like to try with something better than mars led light I used. I did pretty well though considering.. was adding up the cost I'll land somewhere round $500 for that set up.. now my Cree cob rig that's up there if u buy a plug and play kit but if u do all the labor u save couple hund..

Yeah, for a 2x4 you need about 400 watts. Not that bad. It's the guys who go to 5x5 (1000w) and larger that really start to spend the coin.

But really, a 2x4 with a 400w light can get you 8 oz dry bud every 90-110 days (perfect grow). If you can do the veg on the side, you can drop that to every 60-75 days. I guess if you want 1.5 pounds dry weight in those timeframes, you gotta kick up the coin flow.

But what I was getting at is the cost to stay current. Dump your hid and get cobs. Dump your cobs and get qb. Dump your qb and get?

Oh, and you will need c02 once you get everything dialed in. Controllers, generators, and now you need a/c and dehumidifiers plus all the digital controllers to keep everything in balance.

But wait, now you need to upgrade your electrical service because 2 x 20 amp circuits isn't enough.

And you won't want to stay in dirt at that point. So it's hydro or aero. More equipment, and controllers, and an RO system, and a whole line of more expensive snap's.

And of course, you need supersized filters to scrub the air.

And security. All the punks in your neighborhood are gonna think you have pounds of pot and lots of cash on hand. All of your hard work are belong to them.

It's a never ending escalation.

Meh, I'm not interested in an arms race. I'm just going to enjoy the zen and have some fun. If my current light dies, I'll build a diy with whatever is riding high. If I don't get 2g/w, or even 1 g/w, I'm not going to tear everything down and build it back up.

But if you have the resources. Go for it. I like the vicarious thrills. ;)

Totally agree bro.. it can be chaos.. but i only need to grow enough for me and trying to be efficient at it is my goal.. that's why I went led from the jump to try and save money and I use the what everyone calls cheap nutes cause I see no point of giving something the equivalent of rocketfuel to a plant that grows itself if u know what I mean.. but back to the point the mars set up I originally went with turn out not to be efficient at all.. but I'm with u 100% some people just need to have it all and prob don't even use half of their equipment right.. I know afew

Yeah, it can be crazy.

One thing I like about gardening and beekeeping is it trains you to be patient and to let the world rush by while you watch a different clock.

I've worked in tech my entire career. It drives you to expect instant change and crave instant gratification.

Working with plants and stinging insects helps to reset your center. Fishing is different. Hours of boredom punctuated by moments of intense emotion. And if you get caught in bad weather, moments of shear terror. ;)

It's all good. As long as you don't let it stress you out.

I'd def like a better light set up after I get what I can out of my hid lights now. I'm very happy with my t5 florescent and 400w MH for clone/veg. Jumping into the Nutes starting on Monday or tomorrow. I'll be happy when I start my 1000wHPS Flower room though See these little babies turn to mature beautiful big booty and fully developed tits women. Basically take it from there. Shit maybe i can produce a elbow or two out of six plants. But if not I'm totally content with whichever comes from it. Either way it will be a learning curve towards my future growing experience. I'm constantly changing my room and realizing what I can do better day to day week to week. As always I will keep y'all posted and look forward to your grows as well.

Hey guys....which ONA scent do you find works best for odor coverage?
Apple crumble, Polar Crystal, Pro, Fresh Linen

Which ONA form do you find works best?
Gel, aerosol spray??

It is rather expensive and not sure what to order.
Thanks in advance!
