After alot of research, this is the light I went with. I have read all your posts, all the talk of leds and power consumption. I am not a salesman, I am a disabled Industrial electrician on a very, very limited budget. I spoke to different manufacturers, even had a really good offer from Mike on some of his lights but this is still the light I went with. It uses 3watt lights running at 2.10 or something like that watts per light, then power consumption from fans. I don't hear anyone talking about heat, etc. The light I use, at the fixture itself, is 100 degrees, right at the fixture. just 3 inches away it drops to 96 degrees, 6 inches is 88. In the area I grow in I don't have any extra heating or cooling, just 2 fans to distribute the hot air out of the light up and another blowing low to keep the co2 moving into the canopy, not lying on the floor. The room, closed, goes from 72 degrees with the lights off with 28-50 rh to a high of 92 with 32-65 rh, all with no added cooling or heating, no dehumidifier or humidifier. The light already has uvb, etc, nothing to add, along with the penetration factor. It's kind of hard getting used to growing in an environment like this without that extrreme hps heat dryng out the soil so fast, so I have had an issue with overwatering and a meter that took a ph dump on me for 2 long (not checking meter accuracy often will screw up your grow quick, especially when you leave right after watering!) Anyway, if I can save them I will post some pics soon. I may post some veg pics here anyway, the node growth is phenomenal with this light, nice and tight on sativas and indicas, had good trich development at 2 weeks into flowering on all 5 varieties I am growing right now, including a 14 week flowering Hawaiian snow from ghs. Again, I am not a salesman, just a beat up old industrial electrician who specialized in motor controls and lighting for most of my life. The following is some stuff taken from the website that talks about the properties of the light I bought, now he has a couple with 3 and 5 watt lights, even better!! This light is really amazing for an LED it puts out an incredible amount of light, and I have been in rooms with a few 1000k hps bulbs before.

BD700

The BD700 contains 288 High Power 3w LED chips pulling over 600 watts! You will understand why people say HID is a thing of the past when you plug in this light.

This model's 15 spectrums include not only multiple wavelengths targeting crucial absorption peaks in the red and blue spectrum, but also IR, UV, and warm and cool white.

It is available in three spectrum options for your specific needs:

Size: 20 x 12.5 x 3.5
Core Foorprint: 5 x 5
43,000+ lum

Three-year manufacturer's warranty.

Hey

I use to start seeds, clones and the beguinning of vegging under a 128W Led full spectrum witch is switchible between 128W or just 80 or 90 watts (Lower wattage is looking more blue in colour .
but as they crave for more I use to hang in two 300W full spectrum Leds also on lightrails but for flower I have to go Hps together with the Leds,
This setups have made both me and my flowers happy in the last two year, with superb end result..
wish they had better penetration tho
Leds are from Growgrow International a dutch comp.

Bullshit, I have a pair of blackstars and let me tell you, they cover more then 1.5 sq ft.... a 4x4 area needs two units TOPS. Id say they cover a solid 2ftx3ft no problems. I would say 4 units in a 2ft by 10ft grow space would be efficient.

Im looking at grabbing a 3rd for my 2 by 5ft area but its well covered all ready with 2 units. The only things is more lumen's per sq ft and some better penetration.

im with you on this. 2 in my 4x4 is more than enough but i will be adding another so that i have 3 rows of different strains at all times.

A friend came over to pick up some babies and brought his new Blackstar panel and all I can say is if you have the extra $60 buy blackstar at $300 rather than Kessil for $240. Blackstar is as bright if not brighter ne Blackstar panel will for sure cover more area than any Kessil.

did they all work? did they send you anything for your troubles?
yeah they all worked but nothing for my troubles, so I ordered a Blackstar 240 instead of another Kessil. A person I suggested Blackstar brought theirs over and is WAY brighter. 4 blackstars are the price of 5 kessils and I would say more worth the $1200. My next purchase will be either the ISIS FX1 or the ISIS-1. Does anyone know if the 11 band spectrum worth the extra $20

Actually I don't think they are an importer now that I do a bit more research, just a company selling a ho hum led for a lot of money. Although on their "what is eloofa?" page all the info is generic LED info with the same NASA spiel you find in a lot of places. Nothing mentioning that Eloofa is a LED designer, manufacturer, or anything.

2 Spectrum and 3 spectrum LED UFOs seem to be all that is on the menu.

Shit, I forgot to mention that you could also get a 6 band 240W (140W draw) Blackstar with 3W LED diodes for like 260. Thats damn near 3 times that draw for 20 bucks more.

Just beware that UFO footprints are pretty small and I would be looking at panels in the 260-500 dollar range for effective growing.

Blackstar, ISIS, I think Spectra has one in that price range.
For me, that isn't a strong grow light for the money just from looking at it specs.
A friend brought over his Blackstar 240 and immediately after I turned it on to compare with my Kessils I got on line and ordered 1 and will for sure be picking up another. First the ISIS-1 or fx1.

I have used this guy for my lights, got the veg light this week and the main light should be here next week. Ive nothing to compare my 140 watt veg light to but its very very bright. Give the guy a shout he will be happy to answer any questions you have. He really really knows his stuff and has convinced me his lights will be alot better than anything else but only time will tell.

Its £199 per 70 watts of light.

Im hoping the extra money i have spent will be worth it.
Hey BB, any chance you could pm me this guys email address? I'm sure he's just busy but I messged him on ebay 4/5 days ago but not heard back. Bought a secret jardin tent today so I'm getting close to decision time with my light. Would like to go with this guy (the 140watt) or possibly one of those magnum 357s. I take it you got your lights delivered no probs?

damm. thanks for the info hudson valley.. i was so close to ordering from eloofa. i did some further research and found the 63 watt penetrator and the pro version of this. i want a light that will maximize my yield without nething being wasted and it sounds like i can get this from "the penetrator", but i dont kno if its worth the money of the amt of watts. i just looked into blackstar products and im really liking the 180 watt UFO. but now i have a dilema...which do i go with? 63w penetrator(not pro version) or the 180 watt UFO(blackstarr). if anyone with first hand experience with these products can help me out itll be greatly appreciated!!
I have the 126w penetrator and last night a friend brought his Blackstar 240 panel that actually draws 140w so the 126w penetrator and 140w Blackstar are close in watts and I have to say the Blackstar is brighter. The blackstar is $175 less than the penetrator, but the penetrator has a 3 year and blackstar has a 1. All I know is I got online and ordered the Blackstar. The penetrator has served me well and draws less but those panels came out a few years ago where the Blackstar is building on success of panels like the penetrator.

This thread is 234 pages long and still growing you think im guna sit down and read this thing like a book… no I am not. So I ask again…
I have 2 – 600w hps now and the heat and energy usage is killing me. I have been looking at the t5 ho’s and the led roads. I saw this thread and am interested in some input on how bad ass a setup of led’s I would need to have a comparable amount of light on my plants. In my area there is like no one selling these led’s so I would also need to know where to order some good ones. Any info??
Take a look at the ISIS from LED grow lights direct. They also make the 357 magnum. To get close to the equivalent in HPS will require trial. Allot of it depends on square footage. I would think that 3-4 blackstars will get you close or from what I hear about them 2 or 3 ISIS-1/ ISIS-fx 170. It seems to me that Dunit has gotten real close with his (2) 357 magnums.

Yikes, now it all makes sense. They are giving lights away in contests on facebook, for awhile i thought it was rigged. Now it makes sense there using them in a PR campaign to make other companies look bad... And they are doing it with defective lights. I heard they are coming out with a enhanced spectrum. EH. Ill take my crapstar over kessil anyday. 250 bucks plus shipping for a 36watt light haha. When blackstar is tried and true. 250 gets you a 240. even if the powerdraw is less than 240 its still just as if not more powerful than a kessil, and one spectrum?...talk about cheap. i want my lights to have atleast 6, and i want 2-3 green lights in there for chlorophyll production. I guess if youve got the money it doesnt seem too bad. but for someone like me, 250 for a tiny light that lights less that a 2 foot diameter and to light a decent room you need their light spinner and like 6 kessil lights, and some bloom booster lights. yikes.

Sorry about what happened for you light, but you demand a full refund. That sound like a breach of contract. i would threaten to report them to better business bureau, if i didnt get a refund. Or if not of that works, you could just go on every forum and tell them all not to buy from them, i mean i dont want to risk spending that type of cash now that they cant even have working lights, im actually very appreciative to you, for telling us all. i was about to buy 3, and im extremely poor. Keep leaning on them/ gl
I got replacements for the defects. Last week I told a friend to check out the Blackstar 240 he ordered it. I got a look at it's brightness yesterday and ordered one. I will be picking up more. I still like some things about them, but more so in combination with other quality panels.

Im about a week away hopefully from getting my cabs finished so then i can get cracking on my custom made 280 watt led light grow journal from the guy on ebay. It was very expensive and contains Cree XPE, Lumiled's, Bridgelux and Ledenjen bulbs. He doesnt just use one make of led's he finds the best for each colour so im looking forward to seeing if the extra money is worth it.

I believe Gotham says that a 240w covers 2x3. I have two right now in a 2x4 and I think it works good. I have a 4x4 that I'm going to upgrade to soon but I need more light. Personally I don't think 2 240's are enough for a 4x4.

Been there done that. For a 4x4' tray or full tent etc figure 4 of the 240s if you want optimal bud development and decent penetration.

i have 5x5 area and using 4 260w units... they are diff brand but still pretty close footprint...

def 2 would not come close to covering unless lights are like 30" above plants 3 closer but 4 lights makes me feel comfortable like there is plenty of light throughout the space
