lol ...They do have some over average prices but their induction is 699 which is cheaper than indagro.(Not to say its the same bulb spectrum as I'm not sure)Which brings up my next question, no offense, but even if the pontoons work great how is the $ 750- 800 price tag justified with only 40 watts draw? Wouldn't that be the highest costing led unit per watt of any light? And its just an add on to boot! Hyroot take the mic.....

its the 730 leds and the construction (boards) that causes the high price. The pontoons have a 5year warranty and the ig induction light has a 10 year warranty. The hydrofarm had a 2 year warranty. Its a difference of $96 at full price. The pontoon is $695. With everything its a buyers market...

If I was to go the route of induction full blast i certainly wouldn't buy hydrofarm anyway, nor igrow, it would be the inda gro road with the warranty and reputation it has built but i just can't swallow the pontoon price. I would def use or make a separate led configuration. But with that said i could not find a pontoon at 695.

QUALITY IRs are big bucks, so is designing a new item, like pontoons to fit one specific light

Fair enough, I was mainly referring to the 40 watt> $700 ratio. I do realize its a specialty item and it very well may be a "get what you pay for" situation. I guess the best option would be looking into getting a few 420 par/pontoon combo units and crossing fingers for a discount

Magnumleds is also selling one almost the same. They are "Under New Management". They are no longer in Canada and have moved to Florida. So all you Floridians, they are hiring sales people now
(found in Craigslist). They are still covering warranties from the previous owner. I hope this is a change for good. But we will see. It is also being sold by another name, but can't remember it now.

I saw these guys at the washington max yield show last month. They are a bay area company I believe. Super nice guys. No one was showing me pics or telling me how good herb under them is, but they are on the right track with the product. The only multi chip plasma. I would love to see one get used.

You hit it. They are labor intensive to build and designed specifically to work with the 420's. I was in SD where I watched the pontoons being built. It's all hand assembly, including the circuit boards that run the 730 nm diodes and charge the Li-ion battery packs which they also build there. The LED bases have to be aligned perfectly to the raw metal for passive cooling and the wires routed so you don't see them from the soldered surface. Even with a closeup look you can't tell any of this.It looks like the whole thing is powder coated to match the 420.
Do I wish they were cheaper? Sure. I wish they could sell them for just a couple hundred bucks but with the costs to build them they can't. So I take solace in the fact that I've done runs with them and without them and the reality is, with the added weight, I make what I spent on a pontoon back in one run.

I would never spend any money on a light source with a 3000-5000 hr service life, especially for $1700. I wonder why all these new MH plasma companies are shying away from luxim modules??? price??? bad spd???IDK , it's weird why you wouldn't rather have a 30'000hr light engine instead.
to be fair I did spend money on some zoomed florasun bulbs(t5) which probably have less than a 5000hr life...........never again though, fuck that
