You hit it. They are labor intensive to build and designed specifically to work with the 420's. I was in SD where I watched the pontoons being built. It's all hand assembly, including the circuit boards that run the 730 nm diodes and charge the Li-ion battery packs which they also build there. The LED bases have to be aligned perfectly to the raw metal for passive cooling and the wires routed so you don't see them from the soldered surface. Even with a closeup look you can't tell any of this.It looks like the whole thing is powder coated to match the 420.

Do I wish they were cheaper? Sure. I wish they could sell them for just a couple hundred bucks but with the costs to build them they can't. So I take solace in the fact that I've done runs with them and without them and the reality is, with the added weight, I make what I spent on a pontoon back in one run.
Nicely explained!

If they had a similar explanation on their site, I'm guessing more people would buy them

Hey Ill tell you one thing I'm not cheap by any means, I've spent a fortune on lights over the years....as many on here have I'm sure.... But with that said, if the return on cost is there I'm allll for it. I'll buy expensive things even in other aspects of life if its worth it. If you've done runs with and without them and the pontoons do add the weight they claim then that makes it more intriguing. I've been pondering the thought of induction or leds for some time now when it comes to my big flower room. I've done many smaller scale projects with many lights in my other areas to my grow room.
Summer is a bitch thru and thru for anyone I would assume, so been wanting to basically have a "summer room" via induction or led > and a "fall/winter/early spring" room with the cmh hps combo. Might put a poll up soon to see what the riu community thinks. As both options would be pricey, because indagro/pontoons or the leds of choice will obviously be apache or area 51 (no offense to other lights just don't see the potential on a bigger scale). I also don't think DIY will be cost efficient on a 6x12ft area. But open to suggestions

Consider this: Inda Gro is roughly 4300-4600K, great for vegetables, or mjs veg stage, but for flowering, mj needs a good bit of 2700-3000K. (see Supras result with Cree 3000K cob)

2700/3000K is easily assembled using off the shelf Cree household spots, or buy rails from BML: 2 x 3ft $450.

I am awaiting 2 x 3ft rails. I chose the spectrums; ~ 90% 2700/3000K + 2 Royal Blue (450) and 3 @ 660 per rail. They will supplement my 2 white ufo 90s (3500/5000k) to be added once buds set.

As to IR, many have not seen sufficient benefit to pony up big bucks, especially when reptile bulbs will do the trick

I saw a thread a while back that discussed hitting the girls with IR 15 minutes before lights-on to mimic sunrise. He was getting great results.

Has anybody tried light controllers that mimic sunrise to sunset positions and intensity?

Well it looks like radiant led (heliospectra) US website has finally gone live

http://radiantledgrowthsystems.com/ the OPTIQ fixture seems to be what was hyped through the beta testing tid-bits i got(was never invited, fuckers!). 6 inch cooling port/hookup tells me this beast runs "allot " of watts===heat:)

Now we wait for the "affordable" pricing TBA.......lol

oh and the illumitex neosol ds 520w is up on GH's site..........any-day for the inevitable par/umol test to see if my obsession is justifiable

http://growershouse.com/neosol-ds-520w-led-plant-grow-luminaire-48 makes the AT600 look like a bargain now........Jeez

I never got them to answer emails or questions either. You should email them and tell them you want to buy 10000 F3s. See if they respond then Hy :). And as far as I'm concerned the Illumitex Horti line is completely under-spec'd to sell multiple LEDs. After running mine at 580mA (max 600mA) with active cooling they never get hot and it's not the BS240's superior cooling system doing that. Or the graphene they're mounted on. I bet they'll run with OK cooling up to 650mA. Maybe 700-750mA with solid cooling. The only thing to worry about is the tiny Zener diodes that are built into the Illumi package. I would be concerned about them. But that is one of the things I do like about Illumis. Each Illumi is really a tiny panel in itself.

Ya gotta buy F3s in bulk and DIY because Illumi's like the DS are totally overpriced IMHO. Still, I'd love to see one in action. Or even better their 10 degree whites. Mouser US won't sell less than 65 at a time last time I checked :(. Fuckers!

Mounted on Graphene ?
WoW! That is really hi-tech cooling ...
I wish I could find some of that material ..

Just wow! ...

Another Spyder style LED Panel - - - looks pretty good but, as always, over-priced

Crazy beam angles too. All are tooooo wide for my taste, especially the reds. Another great veg panel methinks :).
WHAT THE FUCK....STOP LEANING ON YOUR 'ENTER' KEY!!!! :fire:

You know what's great about some of your posts lately? You're responding to all these posts that get/are deleted, giving you this nice schizo/Tourette's kinda vibe. ROFL.
