LEC Sun System 315W CMH/Philips Elite Agro 930 - Virgin Flowering Run

The veg babies coming up when I pull the remaining PPP's from the 3x3 run. The first 6 (left-most) in 3Gal will be going in there by end of the week to replace the PPP's. The remaining 3 plants (right-most) are in 2Gal fabric pots, waiting for the rest to go into flowering, then I'll up-pot the remaining 3 to 5Gal pots and veg them until the Blue Dream fixture is available. By that time they should be in decent shape/size to run the 3 under the LEC the BD is currently under.

Switched the reds on the LG panel Saturday to acclimate them for the switch to the flower room. I run that LG panel with the veg switch on/reds off until the last week or so. From several veg runs with these panels, imo they fare better in veg using only the veg switch and cutting off most of the reds, you just need bigger panels than normal, like for this 2x4x5.5' cabinet, the "450W" model is perfect and pretty well fills the 2x4 length-wise, pulls only 200w with the veg switch on. As much as I hate these LG panels for flowering, they do a damn fine job in veg. That DIY LED tube "panel" is another 40w @6500k and the plants respond well when I throw it in, not a lot of extra power but they do seem to like the mixed spectrum, much like I've seen in my breeding tent. Handy for pics too, I just shut off the LG panel, take the pics and turn it on again, don't like those purple pics

Will likely be starting a new thread for these plants coming up and post all my activities there, finding it a pain to post some stuff in threads and some stuff in Blogs/Journals. Will just run one thread in indoor and post whatever I have going on there. Once this 3x3 finishes (wanted the first 3x3 run to be on it's own and see what 1x 315w could do), will re-config the room to run both LEC's side-by-side, should gain some efficiency from bleeding them into each other and will run them 3x6 going forward, works well for the room layout as well and leaves me a corner to play around with other projects like DIY COBs and the like.


Some cool stuff coming up in the clone/seedling cabinet. Those will flower 3-4 runs out depending on what pops in my DIY reg seeds. There's 3 extra clones (left-most) that I haven't figured out what to do with, will likely run those in my 2x2 tent, just couldn't kill them, pretty well every seed/clone I've popped in the last while was viable. The smaller one's (6) towards the front/right are all from seed and the one's I'm excited about.

2x Shackzilla fems that I've heard some good things about and wanted to try, popped 2 fems and pulled 2 different phenos.
2x DIY Jack The Ripper x Blueberry regs. Trying to see if I can inject some more yield into JTR and should taste awesome.
2x DIY PPP x Blueberry regs. This is a long term side project for my son. He's into numbers and hasn't found a unique strain with good yield and good smell/taste. Plan is to find a couple of good phenos and eventually stabilize them for a unique cash-crop strain. This is a multi-year project and just getting started. With this one I'm hoping to maintain the decent yield from PPP but inject some flavour/smell into the rather bland PPP. Next will be some additional DIY seeds/crosses that are curing/drying and waiting for space to get started. Multiple crosses including AoS, JTR, Blueberry and PPP, will be running DIY stuff for a while once this gets going...

Was looking at the main veg cabinet as I'm getting ready to flip those 6 into the flower room tonight or tomorrow and observed some things worth mentioning.

In the main veg cabinet pic posted above, all of those plants came into the veg cabinet at the same time in 1Gal pots. I up-potted the 6 on the left to 3Gal 17 days ago, and the smaller 3 on the right into 2Gal at the same time to keep them smaller/hold them due to space restrictions. In that pic above, you can see a notable difference in plant size between the 2Gal and 3Gal pots. Only difference is the size of the pot, have the same strains other than 1 plant and clones were rooted at the same time, same feed/watering methods. Good validation, particularly in veg, you can use pot sizes to manage small veg areas when waiting for space or slowing down veg for any other reason.

The other thing I noticed which I've observed before but didn't document/compare, is the incredible growth spurt in veg once you up-pot and effectiveness of these LED's for vegging. Below are before/after cam shots of all the cabinets/rooms, 13 days apart. Flower room (bottom-left) of course is the same other than bud/cola size/weight (keep in mind, the 1st pic/before had 4x plants, the second/after is 3x plants). But if you look at the clone/seed cabinet, main veg cabinet, and tent there's a huge difference in size, that's all over 13 days, wow.

A long time ago an old school gardener gave me the tip to let them almost get root bound before transplanting/up-potting. Seems to work well I'd say Also a good confirmation of why I like these LED's for veg, I'd say they do "alright"

Chopped the 3x PPP's tonight, some shots before splitting them up to dry. Nice little haul overall, these lights are keepers

JTR should be dry in a day or two. PPP's will probably go until next Monday/Tuesday. Will post weights as I trim.

Cleaned up the room and moved the lights side-by-side. Will reload tomorrow night with the 6 in the veg cabinet.

Update while waiting for the plants to dry. Should be trimming up & weighing the JTR tonight or tomorrow.

Re-loaded the flower room Wednesday night. Will be running 6x smaller plants in 3Gal pots this round. Then 3x larger plants in about 2 weeks or so when the Blue Dream finishes. Will try a few different configs, pot sizes, plant size/height to see what the most productive config ends up being under these lights.

They went in averaging 16", one of them (Super-Skunk) is around 19". Put the trellises in and will tie/bend/shape them as they stretch out over the next couple of weeks. They should end up around 24" tall and fill the 3x3 or so. Have both lights side-by-side now, although the one over the Blue Dream is higher, that plant is around the 40" tall mark and fattening up well, tons of bud sites and colas, should be a good one. Regardless of light height I'll get some bleeding/overlap from running them side-by-side in about a 3x6.5' footprint.

Don't usually run as many Indica's as I prefer sats but looking for a good Indica-Dom pheno in this round of 6 to have some night time meds, searching for good punch/taste, decent yield and PM/mold resistance as my area is smothered in PM. Wasn't happy with the Platinum Bubba Kush as it was a magnet for PM, good smoke and have about 9 zips of it from an outdoor run.

In the 3Gal pots are the following strains, this round will be high maintenance trying to keep a somewhat even canopy and keep each strains/pheno's happy:
1x Super Skunk fem seed, 90% Indy/10% sat (Skunk #1 x Afghani Hash) ~49 days is the breeder time
2x THC Bomb fem seeds, hybrid, Indy-leaning phenos, ~56 days is the breeder time
1x Blue Dream clone, clone from the current BD in the flower room, great pheno pull, got lucky, around 60-63 days I think
2x JTR clones, my current fav 8 week sat pheno, finishes in the 55 day range +-3 days.

Couple of pics of the current setup including some updated shot of the Blue Dream, should be done in the next 10-12 days I'd say, will be watching it closely as this is a first run and want to make sure I don't pull too early or late. It's massive with tons of colas/bud sites



Up-potted the next round replacing the large Blue Dream when it's done. That round will run 3x plants in 5Gal pots to see what the yield is from likely a slightly smaller footprint than this last 3x3. LST'd/Trellised, super-cropped, FIM'd for the third time, now they'll just get some LST as they stretch out with some elbow room in the veg cabinet for about 2 weeks.

Ha, was just looking at the calendar, a little help from the CMH to speed things up a bit and at least one of these strains will be finishing right around Xmas day, should be a good Xmas and New Years when I'm on vacation...

Well JTR is trimmed up and curing. Almost a perfect dry over about 8 days, sitting at 68% RH in the curing tins. I'm kicking myself in the ass, my f'up, nothing to do with the lights but I'm thinking I probably lost 20-30% yield on these. Backed off the nutes early on to 400 ppm thinking it was nutes that was burning the PPP's and never brought it back up. Definitely suffered in weight/density, will be bringing the feeds back up to my original formula of 500-600 ppm, 400 is definitely too low for my medium. Live & learn I guess, good news is the Blue Dream has been taking 500-600 with no issues and dense so it should make up for any loss I took on these. Should still hit around 10 zips which isn't terrible but should/could have been 12-13 imo $#%!

PPP's are pretty well there, will probably start trimming one per night over the next few nights, the smaller one's are dry. Lots of plant/bud mass but definitely not as dense as last round so thinking 7 zips between the 3

Here are the numbers and pics for the JTR weigh-in:
Popcorn/sugar trim: 13g
Buds: 57.2g + 19.3 = 76.5g
Total = 89.5g/3.2 oz. (should have been a qp plant #$%!)

First of the 3 PPP's trimmed up and curing. This one and one other are around the same size/weight, then the largest one that's ~3oz, will trim & weigh those up over the next couple of nights. Notice the popcorn/sugar ratio to bud is quite a bit higher compared to the JTR. Speaks to the density of the buds, they're dense at the core but fluffy around it. Well at least I've confirmed the low limit for feeds in this medium #$%!

Numbers for the first PPP:
Popcorn/sugar trim: 17g
Buds: 50g
Total = 67g/2.4 oz.

Some shots of the current room goings on. Took one of the extra "450w" LG panels and centred it over the new 3x3. Put it on a separate timer to start 10 minutes prior to the main lights coming on, then right through until lights off. These panels allow the Bloom switch to be on by itself, turns on only the reds in the 620-630 and 650-660nm range. It's supposed to help the plants "wake-up" faster and want to see if some mixed/additional spectrum makes any difference. Looking around for some 730nm to run at the end of the cycle to put them to sleep faster. There's a JTR and Blue Dream clone in there for reference against previous runs.

Nights are getting cooler here, hovering around the 30-35F range at night. At these lower outside temps, even with the 2x 315's and now the additional LED's, the room is peaking at 83F. Even better, lights off temps are finally dipping below 70F, hit 68.5F the other "night". Should be able to get these down to lower 60's lights-off by the end of the cycle, maybe bring out some colours

New 3x3 with the 6x 3Gal pots are stretching fast and furious with only 4 days @12/12. Went straight into 12/12 with these as I didn't have anywhere to put the other plants coming up the replace the Blue Dream so I couldn't manage the 14/10 stretch thing I'd normally do. They're filling the trellises well, will keep weaving the colas through the trellises as they stretch over the next 10 days or so. The Super Skunk (bottom-left in the shots facing the door) is past the top of the trellises already, had to tuck some of the colas down already, looks and smells like a good pheno.

Took clones from most of the plants in the 3Gal pots over the weekend, they should be rooted by the time the 5Gal plants are ready to flip, then I'lll clone the 5Gal plants for a couple of rounds out. Will be flipping the 5Gal pots to 14/10 tomorrow night as they have the main veg cabinet to themselves and looks like I can ride out the smaller 1Gal pots in the small seedling/clone cabinet until the Blue Dream is finished.

Blue Dream is looking and smelling fantastic. Starting some fade on some of the fans but still very healthy for just past 7 weeks. I'm thinking another week or so, should be able to decide by next weekend's update. Frosting up, even some cloudy trichs showing up. Tied up some colas to the trellises this week and ended up with very sticky fingers. Really liking this plant, what a breeze it's been to grow, just starting to show some very slight tip burn on the odd leaf @600 ppm, seems to be the right feed for most strains in this 50% Pro-Mix/50% Triple Mix medium. Not too much to burn but enough to produce hard/solid nugs.

Hey thanks City, a little disappointed with the PPP's, could have been so much more weight. But I guess I can't complain heading towards 10 zips in a "bad" run with those PPP's Have never grown out a plant as large as the Blue Dream indoors, and this is the first BD I've run, really interested to see what she pulls, it should be a good one

Finally trimmed up the last 2 PPP's, below is the final tally for the 3x3 run. As already stated I screwed up and could have gotten at least another 20-30% weight, not terrible totals considering a 315w bulb. From what I've seen so far I'm pretty sure this light can pull a lb. with the right strain and no screw ups. I'll take a stab at it a couple of rounds out with 4x Blue Dreams in 5gal pots and run it in a separate thread.

Trimmed and weighed the last 2 PPP's together. Reason I've been posting multiple weights is that scale is the most accurate I have but the scale surface is small. The milk jug I'm using can only hold so much and it's the biggest container I can fit on it. We're going to need a bigger scale

PPP #2 & #3:
Popcorn/Sugar-trim: 21.3g
Buds: 39.9 + 49.2 + 36.3g = 125.4g/4.48 oz.
You can tell how fluffy these PPP buds are, that jug should hold ~60g full normally

Totals for the full 3x3 run:
Popcorn/sugar-trim: 51.3g/1.83 oz.
Buds: 251.9g/9 oz.
Total Weight: 303.2g/10.83 oz.
.96 gpw on the 315w bulb, .79 gpw on the total draw with the 120v unit/overhead.

Since the Blue Dream looks like it's only a week away from chop, I'll keep updates going on this thread until I weigh that one. After that I'll be running a single thread with all my grows unless it's a very specific run like that one I mentioned above.

Thanks, not complaining, I'm harder on myself than anyone around me. Certainly an acceptable yield for any 315w light. Glad I made the investment in these, paid back in the first 1/2 footprint run, no comparison to those LG panels for flowering.

A 7 day time lapse @ Day 1, Day 4, and Day 7 (last night) of the current 3x3. They've filled the trellises well, will even out the canopy on Sunday with some boosters for the shorter one's and should pretty well fill the 3x3 area by then. The angles in the pics are slightly different but very noticeable growth in one week with the trellises as a reference point...

Liking the look of the SS and THC Bomb (both THCB phenos are almost identical), both should produce well. only one I'm not happy with is the first JTR which is a clone from a flowering plant, didn't branch out like they normally do and it's a skinny-ass plant. Other than that the others should do well. All are just starting to throw flowers out, triple checked the SS/THCB seed plants and they're all definitely fems
