...better than the sun system 315w cmh...???...
imo from an efficiency standpoint yes for the 3070's vs. CMH, haven't used them yet but there a lots of grows going on in here with the 3070's and some getting as high 1.4 gpw. Depends on strain obviously but 1.4 gpw is pretty damn efficient, don't know if these CMH can hit that, would have to do a side by side with clones from the same mother to really know and haven't done or seen any yet. Don't think I've seen any grows with the 3090's.

Keep in mind, the watt-for-watt cost is in the range of 1.5 to 2x the Sun System for high-end COB builds, not sure if the difference would pay off in greater efficiency/yields. And not everyone is into DIY. From an ease of getting setup and running, the Sun Systems are a pretty nice option.

Hitting the final stretch for the 3x3 run. Day 54 of 12/12. Love the smell when I open the door at this stage, it's like a wave hits you.

JTR is looking pretty well done. Will be pulling it in the next day or two, throw it into the dark for a couple of days, then chop by end of the week. Any branches that aren't fully supported by the trellises are sagging, lots of weight/density in those buds. Will get some better shots of the trichs to decide when it's done but overall it's pretty ripe.

The PPP's should go another 10-12 days or so, they pack on a lot of weight and mature fast in the last stretch. The colas are sagging and feeling heavier, frosting up more. Side branches in the mid-section are flopping over with no support.

Some pics, likely last group shots with all 4 in the 3x3...

Here's the Blue Dream @ Day 36 of 12/12, Day 21 under the CMH, about 4 weeks left for this one...

This strain is liking the CMH, popping new bud sites daily, impressed with this HSO Blue Dream so far. It's been a breeze growing it, smells great, and looks like a nice producer. Have a couple of clones from this one coming up in veg, looking like a keeper pheno :D

...trying to decide if it is worth replacing the TMP450 lights...I feel they are entirely comparable to the Apache 120 series and a leg up on the (pre/back ordered ) A51 150 series lights...dispite much protest to the contrary...

...I noticed you didn't just buy any of those lights instead of the CMH light, but ARE considering/planning to build a DIY 3070 COB light...

...I noted your comments aboot efficiency and cost compared to the CMH light...and I am certainly not at that level of DIY...

...I guess what I am asking is why you didn't buy Apache LEDS...???...

Yeah, we all make decisions on a bunch of criteria unique to our situation. Mine was driven by a need for a good flowering light at the time (I had some plants that needed to flower quick) but wasn't ready to drop/commit the $2k (e.g. Apache). A51 was a consideration but at the time they hadn't released the RW line, I think they were just coming out and not available. I also wanted flexibility to do multiple runs/footprints, while the Apache has been shown to be a great flowering light, it's a bit large and inflexible in my setup/room. The smaller lights give me some flexibility, particularly right now as my veg cabinet is small (2x4') and would have a hard time feeding a 4x4 under an Apache or any sort of perpetual scenario. At the time I bought the CMH there were some folks building the 3070 COBs but few finished/documented runs so while they looked promising there was little to go by. Even then I didn't have the time to dedicate to building them and had to flower some plants. So I took a chance on the initial LEC unit which was only a $500 investment, was a bit more flexible for my room setup/expansion and gave me something close to the efficiency and output of higher end LED's. I had already tested and decided against any more investment in low end LED's, that was a given.

...you might say looking at your pictures has me second quessing my choice of lightin...(grin)
Once I tested the first run with these LEC's, the difference between efficiencies became a mute point. There may very well be a slight difference, but imo for the money, they're hard to beat and right up there with the best available efficiency. Not a lot I can say other than what you already said, pics tell the story ;)

JTR hanging out, chopped her last night, nice heavy colas bent down to the floor when released from the trellises, should be ready to trim by Monday/Tuesday. Interested to see the final weight on this one, guessing close to 100 grams and could be the heaviest of the four. The remaining 3x PPP's are just cruising and fattening up the buds, should be ready by mid next week :bigjoint:

Hi all, weekly update @day 61 of 12/12. PPP's are pretty well done, going to watch the trichs for a couple of days and chop this week sometime. The buds/colas got quite dense this past week, a little more weight on them, quite noticeable on the larger colas.

JTR is still drying, will be another 2-3 days before trimming and the weigh in.

Should be some nice bud and numbers for this run :D

Blue Dream @ Day 43 of 12/12, Day 28 under the CMH.

Plant just continues to plough through flowering, no defs, no issues. Drinking heavily, having to water every it 2 1/2 days right now. Smells great and stinks up the whole room, it takes over even with 3 PPP's in there.

If it continues at this pace I can't see this one going any more than 2 - 2 1/2 weeks more. Had to start tying the colas to the trellises as they're doing the lean. Looking like a good haul :D
