DIY led grow

My friend, remember when you make cross's, that are cross's themselves, you just get a mot of genetics. It does not mean it will not turn out good or produce something worth saving, but how are you going to keep the genetics alive of what you like when you are not sure what parent contributed it. I know I am being over critical, but you do so well with the LED building and spectrum manipulation. Okay not being an a$$, just some food for thought.

everythings a cross. Only pure bread strains left are probably some landrace sativas found in remote regions of south America, Africa, china, Thailand. or some old hippy that has been holding on to the same strain for 35+ years

Hey realhigh...I see what your saying..

But this seed run is just a little insurance. If times change and seeds are hard to procure I'd rather have a bad cross then no seeds to sow. Although the future looks good for mj you never know what the future holds.

There is only one male, the peyote purple. As far as I know it's a pretty well worked line and should be stable enough for me. Lots of peyote purple f2s.

The cross to blue dream is just for fun and because she's there. She's only going to be minimally pollinated. I've had good experiences crossing strains where one parent is a really good quality selected clone.

Theres a good chance I'll never get to sowing these seeds. But...I like knowing I have something to show after spending quite a bit of money for these seeds.

If mj ever goes completely legal I'll be having lots of fun with the crosses I've made over the years..

I do understand POS, not picking on you, I guess we all differ in out take on it. Do you save some of the original pollen that you used the first time when making seed ? One can have better success and stabilizing their traits if you have the original pollen to use again and again from the same male donor. You can do a few things to keep it for a year or two.
Over time I have found the plants from the same seed batch can be similar, but always a bit different, so once you isolate what traits you like in a plant, male and female, that is when you mate the two to make seed and keep the original female and male pollen around so you stabilize those traits. It takes time, notes, and space, but it is worth the effort my friend.
Like all that you do, just keep doing it POS.

Ughhh.

I was warned about blue dream getting bud rot. I caught it early though and just lost a few nugs. Time to get another fan and start moving some air. Having a hard time finishing things when their this fat. These cxas suck..the buds are way too big and dense..

Pos do you ever have issues with draining on the planter box / soil bed?

Maybe you need a dehum too. or one of those ionic ones. that prevent mold.

Yea...I kinda expected it.

My humidity gets near 100% all the time living in a tropical locale. The tight confines, lots of vegetation, and slow airflow are all combining to give me predictable problems in the larger buds.

So, I think my only option is to put a dedicated 4" inline in my flower room. Now that I'm consistently getting larger buds I'm going to need to control my environment better.

My minimal airflow worked well enough with the smaller buds I was growing with 1w and 3w LEDs. But these full size plants need more airflow.

I don't want a/c, or dehumidifiers. My space is confined to a shitty area for now with no airflow. So, the only thing I can think of is to step up the ventilation.

air exchange should and lots of fans should definitely help.

I was asking about the planter boxes because I was planning on using them outside for my next breeding project. Mohican told me he had problems with drainage. So either I should drill more holes or add lots of aeration or both. . Maybe a layer of perlite at the bottom. My outside area is very limited to space too. That's why I was considering those. I may just do fabric pots outside. I'm not sure yet though.

I'm using geopots right now. Their just like fabric smart pots but a little thicker and stronger material. They stay consistently medium wet with the blumats unless I give it a drench. There's usually never any runoff which I love. The plants and medium are in a pretty happy balance that doesn't need flushing or runoff.

Think that's what you mean hyroot...or did you mean water not soaking into the medium?
If that's the case...I have lots of different sized aeration amendments so the water gets soaked right up.

Edit....not familiar with planter boxes at all. I've just been running the heavier duty fabric pots. I've never done well in closed up pots though so I'd imagine more aeration and drainage the better. Maybe soma bed style with lava rock and PVC pipes..that'd be the trick..

i thought you were using the white planter boxes in your last grow where you got a pound.
