as far as growing with micro's in hydro my 2¢ is not to bother. if you run a sterile rez then root issues are non existant. i have heard great things about dutch master's "Zone" and have started using it recently. it basically kills everything in your rez so you cant run it with micro's but hell you dont need them and i personally feel a safer way is sterile.
Well I have seen a few issues with sterile res's as well lol. Just saying its not fail proof. Touch wood, i have not had to deal with much. Last run was an issue with temps getting higher than 70 but the clear res (expensive!) helped keep things in check. IMO if the temps are kept low, lots of DO made available, and PH/nutes kept in balance, you'll be fine. No more dirt and pots everywhere, no more gnats, and way more efficient!!! When the start date?

Bennies are cheaper, easier to use, and more effective than sterilizers, but it takes a little research/learning to get it right.
