If it's the size you quoted at the beginning of the post then you have the wrong fan and filter. 36" x 20" x 62" ? just plug in 3 feet x 2 feet x 5 feet and should be 4 inch fan 12 inch filter at 200cfm's

Does your tent have 6 in vent holes or 4 inch? If 6 inch I'd go with it and use the fan speed controller..

The bigger the better. The fan will be way too fast. Need a speed controller. The cheap ones are hard on the motors. Get a variac if you can afford it.

Yup 6” vent holes and my main light is going to be the MaxBloom high yield 400W X4 Plus led grow light (2017 X series) (CREE 400W) - and maybe a couple of CFLs if need be.

I got the Hydrofarm Active Air ACSC Duct Fan Speed Adjuster ... was about $23 - hope that’s the right thing!!!

It will work. Not preferable. Its works different than a variac. The cheap controllers cause more wear on the motor and a bit louder. No biggie though.
You will barely need to run that size fan and filter. A tent that small needs less than 50 cfm. Good news is the filter should last a long time.

Took a quick for “variac controller” in Amazon and (lol)) I have to admit being a bit lost with those - its a tad bit beyond my electrical knowledge and skills!

I have the same tent and am running a 200 watt timber framework with veros. It is a great light and the price was reasonable. I think it is the perfect light for the tent and the temp is very manageable. I also went with a 4 inch filter and it is only slightly less huge 
I am glad you posted your questions. I had no idea it was my cheapo fan controller making things loud. I just got a 5 amp varaic for 100 bucks all in and I think my closet grow will be a quiet closet grow very soon.

Its works the same as the cheap one. Plug in the fan and turn a dial. The variac adjust voltage. The cheap one actually starts and stops the motor many times a second.
The cheap one is used on electric motors with brushes. Inlin3 fam motors don't have brushes.
Just use the cheap for now since you ordered it.

To clarify the fans are loud. Will always be loud. The cheap controllers cause extra noise. It will be like a buzzing noise.I have the same tent and am running a 200 watt timber framework with veros. I ended up deciding to go ahead and return the 6" and go with the 4" Vivosun fan/filter combo instead - seems that it will be sufficient based on what everyone is saying. Everyone's input has been very much appreciated! THANK YOU

Damn, sorry all - one last question: do I need any type of converter to convert the 4” fan and ducting to the 6” openings on the tent??
