Blue Mystic Northern Lights A/F: The Grow Series.

Let me introduce myself, I am TheLordDab. I am new to this forum, only found it a few days ago after looking up other blue mystic grows. As you've probably guessed this journal will be about 1 Blue Mystic A/F and 1 Northern lights A/F. I have already started the grow and need to fill you all in to where we are currently so lets get things started!

I got the seeds through Nirvana, along with some 5 gallon root pouches to grow in late game. This grow will be a little bit more difficult than normal because I am currently living in the Caribbean and do not have access to all the things that the plants need. Regardless we will soldier on and grow the best Bud possible!

Below we have a picture of the seeds. The packing was incredibly discreet lol

Decided to go LED for the power savings. 300 Watt. Wanted a bit more wattage because of the multiple plants but it should be alright.

DAY 1:
Soaked my seeds for 4 hours. They had hit the bottom by 3 hours so I didn't feel they needed to soak any longer.

Due to the fact that i'm living in the Caribbean I was unable to find decent potting soil so we had to go with a random company that is here on the island. Unfortunately it was too coarse and had way too much sand, wood chippings, rocks, you know all the stuff we don't want lol. So i sifted it lol

You can tell the soil isn't very good from the pics above. There's is hardly any perlite in it at all and its not fluffy.

Here we go! Decided to germinate on paper towels because its so simple. Just make sure you don't damage the taproot...

The Blue Mystic taproot popped through very quickly. She was in the paper towels for less than 24 hours when I took that picture. The Northern Lights has been slow at everything so far lol poor girl.

DAY 8:
So please don't riot but I forgot to take pics of me transplanting the seeds into the soil. I do however have these nice day 8 pics to share.

This is the Northern Lights :D

As you can see the soil is as nasty as I have been saying, but don't worry there might be some hope in the future ;). Also you can tell by their stunted growth, the soil wasn't allowing water to drain and has cause some serious problems, but don't worry just yet we will get everything back on track.

DAY 12:
Day 12 is not the best day as you can see.

These poor poor little ladies. The soil as you can tell its keeping the water in and no matter how many holes i poke or the amount of water I pour it stays wet. So we gotta fix things...

DAY 13:
Obviously the soil wasn't working so after some adventuring and asking around we found a store that had some good potting soil. I went ahead and transplanted them into the new soil right away because I didn't want them to die. Pics beloooow.

Realized I never uploaded pictures of the air circulation in the grow tent.

I have 2 120mm computer case fans that I spliced into some usb to micro usb cables. They are only for ventilation. Cold air in hot air out. By cold I mean mid to high 70's. Also the larger osculating fan to help strengthen the stems.

Looking good brother and welcome to RIU
Thanks its awesome to be able to share and learn more about the lifestyle of the plant we all so love haha.

Also I have a question, if you look at the pics of the blue mystic the bottom 2 leaves are brown at the tip from early plant stress. Should I clip those off or is it too soon to worry about clipping? This is my first time growing.

Some quick helpful info-
1) Dr. Who and Justugh are a few names that I would recommend for you to get to know on here. When I first joined last year They both helped me more than I could ever express and they know their sheeeut. If it wasn't for their help I'd probably still be maxing out at around 1oz per plant instead of 3-4oz per plant.....
2) 95% of the people on RIU are good folks who know how to grow & are willing to help, just like OnePrays & myself for example, but there are a few that will either give you terrible advice because they either don't know any better, or just because they like being difficult, so if someone suggests that you should do something that your gut is telling you is wrong then don't be afraid to ask someone else first. I learned this lesson the hard way...lol
3) Good Luck & welcome to RIU!!

1) I noticed that you started those off in a small cup, Alot of growers swear that transferring autos from a small grow medium to a larger grow medium will stunt the growth due to stress. I was told this from quite a few auto growers when I first started to grow, so I've always just planted my girls directly into their 5gallon smartpots once I see the taproot, just to be on the safe side....
2) If you reach out to Justugh (or some of the other members), and tell him exactly what's in your soil & what kind of food you have access to I bet he can give you some great advice on how to make a quality rich soil pretty easily. I currently use Fox Farm Ocean Forest but I'm thinking about trying this super soil recipe that he gave me last year once I use up all of my FFOF....

Yes when I first planted them I had read and believed that started off with a smaller cup was better but after seeing all the success on here with people starting directly into 5 gallon I would have to agree. I already made the decision that next grow I do will start in the bigger pots.

DAY 21:
I wanted to leave them in the cups till Wednesday but I think they are growing too fast for that. I'm thinking i'll put the dirt in the pots and flush them with water today then transplant tomorrow. Hopefully they don't mind the stress too much.

Pre-gamed the 5 gallon pots. Figured I'd take pics of the soil and process in case I'm doing something wrong or y'all think I should tweak stuff here and there.

The soil seems to have a lot of good things the plant needs in a soil lol I added 1 cup of vermiculite to help boost the air penetration and water retention.

Flushed the pots with water. Wasn't really sure how much water to use so I poured a bunch in there then stirred it up then poured even more lol
