DAY 28:
Moar pics. Both have good steady growth.

I read somewhere that curving/twisting leaves was a bad sign and in the pic below you can see the center leaves are curving. Also the smallest seem to have lost color on the tips. I thinks that's due to light burn. I had to move the light up, it was only 8 inches off the canopy and that's too low.

Only time will tell. Not worried about it for now.

The clawing in leaves is due to N toxicity. And those tips might just be a very small bite burn. She'll be fine but they're doing great!

Do you think its N toxicity? They've gotten much worse since I took those this morning. The NL's new leaves are literally twisting like a corkscrew. I don't have the proper nutes for the plants so I'm using a basic 20-20-20 which I diluted pretty hard. I diluted it more than the packaging instructed just to be careful.

Also, I've read that N toxicity will slow plant growth. Can anyone share on the subject? Assuming its taken care of fast how much damage might this do?

Do you check your ph? I think first you should check your runoff ph and ph going in. How often do you feed with nutes? And how often do you just use water?

I don't currently check the ph. Straight up don't have a PH testing kit, nor do I think I can find one where I'm at. Still gonna try and find one though. I've watered them twice with nutes. The first time was 1 week ago. I used less than half a gallon of nute water, and another half of just RO water. I checked the soil and watered another gallon of just RO water on Thursday. The soil was hella dry probably 4-5 inches down so i figured it was go time for watering.

When using chemical fertilizer it's very important to be able to monitor ph. In organics it's not nearly as big of a issue. You can surely find ph strips used for aquariums in your area if you do not have the time to order something else online. Usually the first steps to diagnosing Any grow issue is to evaluate your ph going in and coming out. Nobody will be able to properly say what your problem is unless you have the ability to give more information on the finer details of your grow. I hope that helps. We have all been there and once you get things dialed in it will be so worth it. Don't get discouraged. You are on the right path

I know I need one I just haven't been in the position to get one yet. There's is a very small chance they have one where i'm at. They barely have human food lolol Like I said i''m gonna try and find one if not ill be buying several when I'm back in the states next year.

The only thing I can think of is I got a new unused spray bottle to mist the plants. I washed it out thoroughly. I sprayed it once and then the twisting occurred. Do you think it could have anything to do with chemicals there were on the bottle? Just weird how they were growing like champs and now are turning into green leafy Twizzlers lol

I think it was just a coincidence that the symptoms started around the same time you used a bottle to mist with. It looks like a ph issue to me. Probably low ph. Does your soil say it contained lime? Peat based soil tends to gradually get lower and lower as the grow goes on

I just looked back on your soil and it does contain lime. It seems to be a good soil. I can only guess what the issue is and anyone else will just be guessing also. Without knowing ph it's very difficult to begin to evaluate the problem

I hope I'm not clogging your journal. Does your fertilizer contain micronutrients also? I'm struggling to narrow down what could be happening.

Yeah it's not amazing lol. But your right and if that's all you have access to then it is better than nothing at all. I do commend you for still making something happen despite your location and limited access to supplies.

Thanks man. I'm trying to make it happen. At least this stuff is happening on the fist go that way the next time it should go even smoother.

DAY 30:
So in two days we went from happy healthy plants to these two sad twisted creatures. But don't worry ladies im gonna do everything I can to save you lol

I decided to water them today with just RO water. The soil was completely dry on top. I was able to stick my finger as far as I could down the side of the pot and I didn't feel moisture. Hoping this might flush out any excess nutes. Poured enough water to see around 10% runoff.

Thanks I'm really hoping they get well. Just re-orientated them after the last watering to how they've been in all the pictures. Not gonna check till probably 10:30 pm just before the light goes off. Hoping to see some improvement. How funny would it be if this was all just under watering lolol

@Bunnybrew I think I might've solved the mystery. I believe the smart pots where soaking up the runoff water because of the tray I had them in. Put the pots of some flipped bowls to keep them off the trays. Compressed the bottom and a large amount of water leaked into the tray. I'm guessing the pots were soaking the water/nutrients from the last watering and storing them in the bottom of the pot and now that the plant has grown enough the roots are starting to reach the bottom and are being shocked by the excess nutes.

Just a small update:

Woke up to some good signs. There is definitely growth from yesterday and the leaves seem to have calmed down a bit. The twisting is starting to go away which is good, but there's still tons of clawing and drooping. Lets hope those symptoms dissipate soon.

The BM looks like she will be okay but little miss NL isn't having a good time at all lol There's small growth on her from yesterday but not much bouncing back.

interesting. That very well could be what was going on. Nice job on figuring that out at checking it
