400w-500w of Cob led to replace a 600w hps depending how hard or soft you run them to make them more or less efficient.
Lots of grows in the led thread, but just go look at on youtube for growmau5 and watch his early comparisons from hps to COBs

400s are inefficient compared to 600s. You're not going to replace a 600 watt light with half the wattage in LEDs with current technology. That's a statement of fact.
I used to run 2 vented 600s in a 4x8 tent. I've replaced them with 900 watts of cobs and am still getting identical results in terms of weight. PCBs are badass, but 300 watts of them will not replace a 600.

An average 600 is recommended to flower a 3.5 x 3.5 area. Each quantum board can flower a 2x2.
I have my driver dimmed to about 70% so around 170-190 watts.
So even 4 boards at 340-400 watts would be a worthwhile swap imo.
And if you've already switched to cobs you know that there's a quality or density improvement on top of the heat management savings.

To replace a 1000 watt HPS, you'll need roughly 800 watts of COBs. So to replace a 600 watt HPS, you'll need roughly 450 watts of COBs. 400 would do okay. Timbers 400 watt framework would be perfect.

4 quatum boards run at 500watts will give same yields maybe a little more than a 600w hid. That's dried and cured for 2 months not wet, or uncured.
Will you will noticed over hps is that the buds are really really coated with thricones, like bricks, have a really nice taste and smell. But they are not the magical button some would have you believe. If your shit at growing it won't matter what light is used.

With a 600? I have done a SOG that went 3.41 GPW.
With a 400? Done 2.8 GPW
You don't even want to know what I did with a 250! (Aw, what the hell - 4.48 GPW)
With a 1 K - no SOG my average is 1.72
In reality, GPW is meaningless!
Now just what do you say is not a "shitty" LED? OUTSIDE of COBB's, your overpriced and overrated LED's won't keep up with what I do and not get near the quality results either!

Yeah, of course. I was able to also cut out another 100 watts by eliminating the fan that was venting the hoods. This tent is my flowering room closest to a west facing garage door that gets roasted by the sun in the afternoons. reducing heat was important.
I have a 5x10 cmh/cob room as well, and that combo produces some amazing results.

One of the most noticeable improvements I've found is even lowers are dense and frosty.
I'm not claiming better yields using less wattage alone.
But equal yield with denser bud and at considerable wattage savings.

I'm not a fan boy of the company and they are a pita to get. Hate recommending products that are mostly unattainable tbh but they work.
I was the biggest skeptic and I've been blown away by what I've seen from them so far.
