Have you thought about just getting a light mover instead of a second 1kw burning?

the third prong is for the ground, if you are really worried you can tie the ground to the neutral (wire going to the smaller prong on the plug)

you could try vinager dripping into baking soda but I have no idea how much you'd need.

If you wire the light to run on 240v it will cut the amperage load close to half. Either way you should get a higher amperage service, at least 100 amps.

look at the spectrum not just the lumens, the super blue looks better to me the super hps is all yellow

I am still in the planning phase and I was wondering if it is worth the trouble of getting a mag ballast and using a cmh or just getting a hps grow bulb. Please share your experience if you have actually done this not just what you think from what you have read online.
