ya correct scrubbin and cooling with one fan but I have a small intake fan and and circulation fan inside the grow.. I see what you saying all the CO2 would get sucked out and it would be kinda pointless or I could turn off the fans but my babies would bake...So I'm thinking when the light is off, and my intake and out fan shut off, but I keep the circulating fan going, what if I only use CO2 then.. would that work??

thanks for the feed back man, I worked my ass off building this and spent quite a bit of cash on it too, I do think my set up still has a ways to go!

First question is what size are the pots you plan on to finish with? you should try and keep temp around 72-74 also get a small fan inside to blow around air Makes the girl stronger And to let ya know it will smell a bunch when in flower watch out for spider mites myseld i stay in veg till the plant is 12 -16 inches tall i have a small cabnet and when they are done they are 40 inches tall Good Luck

Thanks wildcajun, my pots are 11" wide by 9.5" tall, I do have a small fan in there but maybe I need a bigger one..dude I don't think I'll ever get my temps down to 72-74, not with out an air conditioner, but I don't plan on getting one tel the summer

hey RIU so This is week 4 give or take a few days, one week after transplanting. have them on 18/6 light cycle, under 400 watt MH.. so I plan on updating weekly every Thursday with pics hopefully next week they will be a lot bigger, I was thinking of LSTing my plants, but I'm am a noobie.. but it looks like it is hard to go wrong with LSTing unless be break the stem. do they look ready to try LSTing? thanks for any input and say high!

no that would not work. the plant only uses co2 in bright light. When the lights are off, no co2 is used.

Oh well I guess co2 isn't going to work, I just hope they dont get heat stress, but my temps were good today at 26.3 but is was up to 29 the day before but they seem fine so far

LST can be started anytime, tho persoenaly id reccoment waiting till some of the plants have 3-4 nodes. Do this so that axuins(hormones) become centered at the top of the plant. Then when you do LST a plant the auxints will move quickly to branches that have already formed at nodes 1 and 2.

You can LST now, that would make your plants bushy also it would even out the quality and thc levels in all tops...Here again my opinions are such I like to have certain tops (main shoot) more potent then the others. This is so the potent ones are used by me or friends. Other tops are used in other things...

While reading your thread and understanding your issues looks like all is set to do good, those temps arent dramatic only uncomfortable. So the vent that you use in your window, you can make a intake there as well???

Also some of those duckting jobs you have could use a little work. The less bending in the duckting and the less the air has to travel the more efficient it is.


Those are just the things that i saw.

Thanks tabi lots of good info plus rep, lol that's funny you noticed my shotty ducting, I plan on redoing it sometime soon maybe my next grow.. And yeah I could make an intake on my window vent, that was my plan B if heat was too big of an issue.. But at the moment it seems under control, but I here HPS lamps burn hotter? That could make a heat issue a problem

So I decided after much though not to LST, because this is my first grow so I just really want to get all the way through the grow with out fuckin it all up, and plus I've heard Northern lights grow fat colla buds, next grow for sure I will LST

Hey RUI its week 5 and as promised here's some pics for you viewing pleasures. I've seen some impressive growth.. they all grew but the big one has exploded with growth, it has its first set of 9 fingered leaves and filled out nicely, the second biggest one parallel to the biggest is keeping up nicely, the third seems to have topped itself, you can see its now growing two shoots.. and the smallest one still looks retarded but its growing so i'll let it grow. I'd love to hear your thoughts on my grow so far, everything look good? stay high RUI!

Hey RUI, week six now and wow have they grown, things are going smoothly haven't had any problems.. one thing that is a bit weird is at the end of the 18 hour light cycle the plants seem to wilt but when I check them in the morning there are fine.. hope thats normal.. So how much longer would you say to veg for? are they ready to flower soon?

hey RUI just another weekly update here, so I'm thinking I will switch to 12/12 in the next few days.. I think my biggest plant is ready to flower for sure but the others I want to veg a bit longer. The biggest one is 16" tall then 13", 8" and 7"... I'm for sure cloning off the big one

So now I'm running a 12/12 cycle and put in a 600 watt GE HPS bulb but have dimmed to 400 watts. I'm a little worried thatI made the switch a bit late, you can see my biggest one is 18" so assuming its a female (I grew from seeds) how big do you think she will get? or more important how much bud could she get?

you could try vinager dripping into baking soda but I have no idea how much you'd need.

YOU CANT DIM THE BULB!!!
THE 400W SETTING IS FOR 400W BULBS!!
PUT IT ON 600W OR GET A 400W BULB
FIRE HAZARD!!!!

ya my friend did that with a 1000w dimmed to 600 and his ballast started smoking in a few weeks, so he brought it back to the hydro store where they told him you cant dim them without dimmable bulbs or simply matching bulb wattage to ballast, no warranty.

I have a digital ballast, so yes I can dim it with out a problem.. What kind of ballast did you friend have?
