l.e.ds vs hps

I realized that yesterday . You can't explain it to someone because they are hard headed and think they know everything. 500 with 4 lights is a pretty good power bill. But yeah it is definitely hard to reward yourself when your barely getting enough to cover overhead
I never said DIY led is a better value. you made that part up. Look back through this thread and find where anyone is arguing value.

What I did say is that it's a better lamp. It produces more quantity of photons per watt dissipated, and more watts of photons per watt dissipated. What's a better value depends on many factors, including cost of electricity.

It's just like how you made the purple part up. You're making up your own straw-man arguments so you can knock them down.

I'm pretty sure this entire thread is talking about efficiency.. Which would mean how effective the fixture is for the cost put out and the return meaning gpw grams per square meter whichever is more important to you,and circumstances of growing between the two. We can all argue this til blue in the face . But until you are a big grower, it is sheer nonsense for people to be talking how this is a better buy for big growers. I wouldn't use an LED fixture it was free. Unless there is an led that can penetrate max lumens at 36inches and push a 5x7 canopy and produce 2.5 pounds from said 5x7 canopy for under 1000 bucks with 1 fixture, And it comes in a box I don't have to rig up some ghetto shit myself.. If you can find me an led that will meet that criteria I am credit card ready and will buy it right now. If not, sit down and shut up

No... GPW is NOT efficiency. Efficiency is the amount of light power you get out for the amount of electric power you put in. It's a number between 0 and 1.

Effectiveness is how good something is at producing a certain effect or result.

Value takes money into consideration.

You're hopeless... Have fun bragging about your own incompetence..

Btw, you can penetrate 36 inches easily with led.. I even showed you pictures with a yard stick, but like you said, you can't rig it up without it being ghetto, because you have no clue wtf you're doing.

What kind of fool gives me a challenge to find an LED setup that penetrates 36 inches when earlier in this thread... I show my 36 inch tall plants....

Why are you guys so mad that people don't use led? Would it make you happy if he said he was going to tear down all his lights and switch to led?

Really? Maybe when you grow for fun but not as a business. So your electricty is worth as much as your nugs?i told you, big growers don't give a fuck about the electric bill or how much power theyre using . If I can get an extra few pounds to spend another 1000 a month on electricity... It's clearly worth it

That's not what efficiency means....

Stupidity in general makes my head hurt...

Maybe you should be making fixtures for a living instead of wasting all your time arguing about it. Yuh clown

When you see someone saying their DIY lamp is 49.1% efficient, it means for every 1W of power dissipated, 0.491W of light power is emitted. It has nothing to do with how many grams you yield.

So I should make less money to be more efficient ? Explain this from a business stand point
........ When did i say this? This is the same straw-man argument you just made earlier. For you, maybe HPS is the right choice. I recommend HPS to most people that ask what type of lamp they should get...

But that doesn't mean HPS is more efficient. HPS has an efficiency between 30-42% depending on the type. My DIY CXB build is 49.1% efficient. It's a clear winner in terms of efficiency regardless of whether it's a better choice in terms of money.

2 pounds per 5x5 space. 1 fixture in that space. And that fixture cost 350 bucks for top of the line setup.
If I got 1.5 lbs and only used half the light .. I would be using my electricity efficiently .. But not my space. And considering electricity is not an issue for me.. There is no benefit to this
