So for a 2x4' space I would only need 2-3 watts?

for diy would these work run off this driver?
my pontoons run probably 18-24 watts over a 5x5. No reflector like flood lights and no secondary lenses.

Cap when do you normaly flip back to 12/12? I ran 12/12 for the first 2 weeks. Then 13/11 and flipped back on day 43. My strains are 60 day strains roughly.. I couldn't seem to get a straight answer from spliff. Just a long epilogue of his grow.

It's strain dependent, but as a general rule 12/12 first and last 2 weeks. I usually up mine after about 1 1/2 weeks with my strains to 13.5/10.5 then back to 12/12 the last 1 1/2 weeks,my critical kush can finish as fast as 50 days using one.

Do you do that with all your flowering lighting or just the 730nm? This whole thing with 730nm flower trigger and faster flowering times has my interest.

I just got my heatsink bars in finally for my R/B string. Im going have 10 Luxeon ES EX6 660nm at 650mA that should satisfy the 660nm portion, right? And then for my space use like 2 3w 730nm for like 15 minutes after lights out or 5 minutes before, 10 minutes after the rest of the lighting shuts off and have the 660 coming on right away at lights on with the other flowering lighting to 'wake' them up quickly.

Is that pretty much how it works?

And what you are saying about 12/12 then 13.5/10.5 and back to 12/12 is just your flowering lighting changes?

Sorry I never read about this effect until recently still trying to figure it all out.

edit: ok just watched a quick little video on youtube I guess it only needs to be on 5min after lights out and that makes the plant switch from Pfr to Pr rapidly in that 5 minutes or less rather than over 2 hours of darkness allowing you to increase the amount of lights on time for more yield and still faster flowering due to the 730nm at dark. Pretty sweet.

I understand now. I know what Im buying next.

Thanks for the help Capt.

Nearly 15 zips off those last two CK's in the COB cabinet, these new girls had a short veg so I'm not expecting big numbers on this run. I have two clip on fans in the cabinet but decided to turn them off,the 6 cooler fans move the plants around nicely on their own. The plants look beautiful and very happy under just the COB's this run, last run was a real mishmash of lights jambed in there.

Why start 12/12 and then up to 13.5? Why not start 13.5-14 then slowly lower?

PET is going to love me for this..

you showed me a link to a $200 dollar flood light with 730nm..

BML have to 7 inch bars for $100 which they claim are osram... do you think this would be better due to having them cover more area..IE one at each end of the tent/room

Im curious as to just how much 730 is needed

I use the 10 watt version that lists for $150 and it covers a 8'x8' area.

I actually have two 10 watters and two 7 watters from growlightsource.com.
The 7 watt ones are factory defect units for $99,they have a 9 LED multi chip and one row of 3 does not function.
They work fine for me because I grow in 3x3 tents and cabinets,my largest is just over 11 sq/ft.
