Fark, I run 9 in a 3X3 array.

...and my tent is closer to 4' X 4' too.

...but I really get tops more than side growth.

Tall plants...

P.S. My initial hesitation, on the posters behalf, was whether an auto can really
take full advantage of a 5 gallon hempy in the time it has. I Veg my plants
separately and so I know that my plants get the time they need. Verdict --> go for it! :0)

Well I haven't jigged anything yet. I did burn a bowl in my new Arizer Solo though. I love that thing and I am ripped. That's basically my question. Is the 5 gallons too much for an auto?

HHmmm...I would assume the tap root on an auto grows at the same speed as a photos tap root?!?!?!?

JD - But those TOPS look nice!

Yeah, but basically a Reg plant gets twice the time.

i.e. 8 weeks of Veg then 8 weeks of Flower (good ballpark...I go 9-10 usually ;0)

I am thinking that they will do fine with the extra material,
and if it makes them take a bit longer to finish then it will
be, in part, because they are also bigger and will yield more.

Simpatico?

I'll give it a shot. I think I'll keep one a 5 gallon and cut the other one in half. A comparison grow.

Thanks peeps.
always good to experiment to see what works best in your environment....but more work looking after different sized pots as the watering pattern varies with each size

Yes I know this is a dumb ass question. I'm making a few hempy buckets tonight out of 5 gallon buckets from ACE. This is new to me. I have only grown in dirt indoors and want to try something different. I've been researching this for the last 4-5 hours. On average it seems 2.5 gallon buckets are mainly used. I'm only growing autos. Is 5 gallons way overboard? Should I just jigsaw the mother in half so it's 2.5 gallons?

No I did not read all 404 pages. :bigjoint:

Thanks guys/gal

The question you need to ask yourself is: how often do I want to water (i.e. feed)?

Smaller pot = more frequent watering. I start my clones in a bubble bucket and then transfer into 32 ounce foam fountain cups from the gas station with a hempy hole popped in them about 2 1/2" from the bottom. After about a week or so of rooting in those cups, I transfer them into 5 gallon hempy buckets. Eventually in peak flower (weeks 5-9) they will be needing watered nearly every day (at least every other day) so if you go with a small pot, you very well may be watering twice a day which is no fun at all. Having to water means having to mix nutes and all that ensues with that process which just equates to more time consumption for you to maintenance your garden.

Hope that helped!

ok...IMHO I would think a 5 gallon pot is a bit on the large side for your size of room
I have 3 vegging 5 gallon hempy's in my 3'x3'x6' DR90 tent and 3 flowering girls in 5 gallon buckets (shit's a little tight, yes) in my flower tent of the same type and size and space is sufficient but I would be better served on my next round by only flowering 2 5 gallon buckets and maximizing my canopy space rather than over stuffing 3 big bitches in there. In short, if your space is at least my size, 5 gallons is acceptable. Just start them in smaller containers first so the roots have a chance to develop before you put them into a larger pot.

Yes, it really depends on whether you are growing Indoors or Out. If indoors, then the plant simply wont use the space of a 5 gallon bucket in the 3 months you have them, but outdoors is a whole other animal. I am an indoor grower and flower in 2 or 3 gallon buckets,, my plants end up about 4 feet when all is said and done.

Hey WoH, update time. Okay the WLH (Jackie-O & Sour Diesel (right)) is Just a stellar bucket, I'm sure if I could let this go it would produce over 3lbs. I never topped either plant, so that's all side branching. I'm considering topping all ends just to stunt her. Every time I tried to lst it would slow the growth a bit, but they would take off again. Still hasn't started flowering, I'm gonna have to force it some how.

Now the auto crosses that I thought had no auto ability, started to flower 5 days ago, and to stretch also. They're near the top of the fence again.

So yesterday I decided to scrog auto crosses, again some heavy bending.

I've tried soil hempy before but haven't gotten results like this; the plants are flowering vigorously, and i only water every 3-5 days!

hope everyones doing great in here it's been a real long while since i've visited!

What's up y'all. Haven't been doing hemp lately. Been messing around with coco and dwc. But I had 2 extra super lemon haze's that I couldn't throw away. So for kicks I put them in 2l's. It's vermiculite and and perlite for the medium. I always veg my plants in a aero cloner and transfer to what ever medium I use. To me they grow the fastest that way. I put them into flower yesterday along with my hortilabs sour star, slh, and tangie. Yeah I know I will probably have root bound issues. I'll keep ya posted.

That's a lot of plant to stick into a 2L sky, I'm sure it will work but you'll have to water it like it was dtw...

Yes you are right but I hate to throw away good plants. My space is already tight so that's why I put then in 2l's. Yeah I'm probably need to feed those girls frequently too.....when I do coco I use canna, when I do hempies I use house of garden, when I do dwc I use dutch master's. My cabinet is full of freaking nutes and additives....

I could never keep track of that many different feeding regimes. Hell I'm really proud of myself for just mixing nutes for the outdoor pots, and not killing them......
