Will LED lights ever....

Oh? Please elaborate? I'm still trying to figure out how to dial my system in?
Just Space your COB's 10"-12" on center and you pretty much can't go wrong if using Vero 29/CXB3590. Especially when reflectors are utilized.

Massive numbers per square foot if you know how to train plants well. I nearly doubled the yield I'm used to getting under my 600 HPS.

These LEDs are truly amazing at growing plants.

Yea i got a question. You mentioned about 58% lower cooling costs. How do we know what the dollar figure is in the first place? For instance if one was running a 3 ton a/c to cool hps lights how much of his power bill is the a/c?
I put a slide in the webinar at 17:07 that compares the BTU and the calculated dollar savings for the all LED, all HPS and checkerboard rooms.

Super interesting thread. We recorded a webinar with the growers at Silver State Relief in Nevada. We tried to address some of the questions that commercial growers ask regarding yield, quality and energy consumption. We're planning another webinar to get more data and information.

If you don't have 40 minutes, here are the highlights:

- Dr. Hopper and Dr. Wheatley are seeing improved cannabinoid production profiles under LEDs.
- Silver State Relief has 3 lighting scenarios: all LED, all HPS and checkerboard LED and HPS.
- The aggregate yield for the facility is 1.5 lbs per fixture.
- Lighting electricity costs were reduced by 43% in the all-LED rooms.
- Cooling costs in the all-LED rooms were reduced by 58%.
- Cannabis strains respond differently to various spectrums.
- Experiments with adjustable spectrums are underway to optimize cloning, - vegetative, flowering and mothering.

If you have questions or criticisms, please share. It'll help us with the follow-up webinar in April.
Thanks for sharing, interesting to see lumigrows in a large scale facility in Colorado.

what I haven't been able to figure out about lumigrow is why they still haven't moved forward with a whiter light

Total minus the lights, fans, etc?

How about adding up the draw of the equipment and multiplying by the percentage of time it's running?

It's not hard to quantify
This is what I was yelling in my own head this whole thread that I power read yesterday. What these guy are missing are the simple concept's. The main concept being. Pay less now for equipment or pay more and have your equipment pay you back. IE: save 50% total grow energy saving over a life span avg of 50,000 hrs for decently driven cobs.
IE: AC,intake/exhaust fans, chillers, pumps, wall fans, Nutrients,c02 generator and my favorite being My own time. You gotta have a price tag on what your own time is worth,
I'm sorry but reducing margins for business is a huge advantage. That's how people get financially comfortable instead of just squeezing bye. But hey if they want to run 30 1000 watt hps's and it works for them that's great. It makes no sense to me in the long run of things. 2nd concept is the quality and quantity is superior from everything I've read and personally seen these days.

Disclaimer: I run Hps's. I've been on the side lines about led's until last year. I didn't think the tech was there until I saw these newer style Phosphorus cobs stacked with some pretty damn good finish numbers and quality. The side by side comparisons and chemical breakdowns have helped a lot with my decision.
just my 2 cents

One more thing. To the person who stated NASA designed HID lighting is superior. I sure as hell don't see NASA growing flowers/Veggies on the ISS with HID lighting.
Sorry I don't feel like scrolling through the 17 pages to find that quote. But it definitely made me laugh.

Right? Sometimes I think a few of these noobs have a better future in comedy than a growroom!

You are where I was 6 months ago. I'll be sharing my COB LED results, vert style, in my thread, link in my sig line.
