What is the point in transplanting, can you give me all the reasons why people don't just plant straight in to the final large pot?

well the idea of transplanting is, of course, to give your girl more room to grow her roots.. the bigger the roots the more nutes she can absorb and the stronger she'll be...

starting in the final pot you are going to use is best... but it is not always convenient for everybody... if johnny has 2 rooms, a veg and a flower, and has a bunch of 4 week old vegged plants ready to move to the flower room, but has clones that are rooting or seeds germinating, he may need to use a smaller pot or dixie cups or whatever to start his new girls in until he can open the space up by moving the larger plants to flower... or is johnny has a seperate clone room for them, obviously that room would be the smallest of the 3 rooms... so johnny would need to start them out in smaller pots to save on space in his clone room... basically not everyone has the space to start out 20 seeds/clones in large pots, especially if they are using the same room to veg and germinate in...

Mostly, all the extra dirt gets very heavy. This makes it hard for the young roots to grow, slowing the growth of the top as well. It also helps prevent overwatering.
